Or get into PVP! As you level your PvP rank you get trophy crystals, then turn those to wolf collars, then into wolf marks. You can spend those wolf marks to get glamour prisms! Almost each time you level you get 1000 trophy crystals you can get 40 prisms if I remember correctly! And while doing that you get wolf marks to spend on more prisms too so you can get loads of them in PvP. 😊

@@kjtt17 Grand Company is another easy option for Glamour Prisms. Just bump your ranking in the Grand Company you choose during MSQ, you can use the Grand Company Seals to buy Glamour Prisms a little faster than grinding PVP. (plus it's better for folks who aren't that into PVP) They're 200 seals each, and depending on your rank, you can do "turn-ins" to get rid of old gear you don't want for seals, in addition to earning them through other content in the game.

another way to do glams if you dont know a omni crafter is that every expansion has tombstone gear. its all dyeable and glamable. plus its super easy to get early game tombstones. the gear for heavensward looks pretty nice and the weapons for ARR also are quite nice. for weapons i recommend the ramuh weapons. another thing about the market board is world hopping. the marketboard is usualy tied to its world so if its expensive in one world it might usually be worth using a main city atherite to hop worlds and seeing if u can get it cheaper. hope some of this info helps ya cause i had the same issue. also as a final bit at level 90 in endwalker just doing a daily level roulete gives you a large amount of gil. @@ToastyDIY

One way to make money by killing things is to do the treasure dungeons. There's a blue quest to unlock treasure maps. A treasure map has a location marked on it, you go to the location and dig, defeat the mobs that spawn, and collect treasure. Maps are either solo maps or 8 person group maps. The group maps have about a 70% chance to also spawn a portal into special treasure dungeons where the best loot is found. The rarest items can go for 100,000 gil or so. If you don't want to get a group together to run treasure dungeons, Gatherer classes can easily collect one treasure map per day, and these can be sold on the marketboard for decent money too, so 5 minutes a day will make you about 10,000-40,000 gil per day, depending on the level of the map. You can also make money from rare drops in the Deep Dungeons like Palace of the Dead. POTD is a dungeon with 200 randomly generated floors with unique mechanics, lots of mobs, rare drops, and a boss every 10 floors. You can go in solo or with a group. If your group wipes, you get kicked back to the last save point. There are 2 other Deep Dungeons later in the game in Stormblood and Endwalker.

Infact I'd argue this is underselling the value of treasure maps. My FC do regular treasure map runs where we do 8 or so treasure maps with portals. We make a million gil each time before selling any items we gain from it. Also the rarest minions sell for 60~m with them being even more insanely priced when it's current content

In Stormblood, there is side content called Eureka. In Eureka, there are unique character levels, at max level, on the 3rd and 4th map, there are "bunny quests" where you save some bunnies and they ask you to follow them. Follow them playing a hot and cold minigame. Once your find the right place, you will find a treasure chest. In that you get 10k, 25k, or 100k gil FLAT based on the rarity of the chest. They will also give you items that can sell for 5k-60k minimum. In total, I made 10mil over about 15 hours of semi-afk second monitor bunny fates while watching RU-vid. Hi, welcome to our community 🎉 first of all, you can view back missed cutscenes in the Unending Journey desk in every inn room. Helps for if you've accidental missed something big. Like a lot of other people said, unlocking Eureka and Bozja is a great way to farm gil. Treasure map runs are also good, try to stick to the 60, 70, 80, 90 8-person maps that trigger portals to dungeons (you will need at least a minimum of 5 players to complete treasure dungeons comfortably). Keep in mind also you can only gether one map every 18 hours. Another thing that isn't mentioned much is tribal quests - you can find some really cool mounts and emotes among the different tribes. Dyes that are rarer sell pretty well, you can get the from trading in fete tokens or skybuilders scrips at the Firmament from Enie.

Glam collection comes from a variety of sources. Yes, leveling gear and dungeon gear is *a* source of glam, but since dyeable glams are preferred, a lot of dungeon drops aren't going to be high priority. There's PvP, which awards both crystals and Wolf Marks which can be exchanged for various dyeable glams. There's Raids, both Normal and Alliance. The glams from Normal Raids are usually undyeable but the Savage iteration, which can be unsynced if it's old content and you get some friends or are SEVERELY overleveled and overgeared, are dyeable. Alliance raid gear is sometimes dyeable, sometimes not, and sometimes the models show up in later dungeons or in crafted variations as dyeable. Later raids (Shadowbringers and later) have all been dyeable from the outset and it's massively increased the perceived value of the gear, which makes getting the queues to pop that much easier. For instance, and this is the best one I can think of at the moment, the gear that drops from the Level 50 Alliance Raid, the World of Darkness, is undyeable. However, that gear shows up in the endgame dyeable crafted gear for, I think, Heavensward or Stormblood, so check the L60 and L70 sections of the Market Board and they'll be "green" items. (The gear from the L60 Alliance Raid "The Void Ark" is definitely repurposed as L70 endgame crafted gear in dyeable variations, at least for the Casting/Healing sets. The L60 raids have inconsistent implementation as dyeable options elsewhere.) However, they *also* show up as dyeable dungeon drops for the L79 dungeon in Shadowbringers, with some style variations for Tanking gear helms. If you want the L50 gear from the Labyrinth of the Ancients, though, you're going to need to PvP because dyeable variations are available for PvP currency. There's a formerly tomestone purchased endgame gear set available for Hunt currency in Heavensward that ended up repurposed as undyeable dungeon gear in the L67 Stormblood dungeon. One of the Stormblood endgame tomestone gear sets that is now available for Hunt currency (the Ala Mhigan set specifically) was later re-used as the Ovim Wool crafted set at approximately L76, I believe. The L80 endgame crafted Neo-Ishgardian set was repurposed as the regular crafted L88 set and my brain blanks on what it was called at that point. Repurposed sets are usually recolors of some form or flavor, so fashionistas will sometimes prefer some variants because of what the secondary colors are in terms of matching their outfits. This is likely to become a WHOLE new thing in Dawntrail, though, with some of the upcoming changes to the glam system that have been revealed. There's also the Moogle Event, which is a recurring thing every time there's a major patch. The month before the patch drops, the Moogles send the player base into old content/various content for a special form of tomestone that can then be traded for items. Sometimes those items include L1 Unrestricted variants of various glam pieces. And then there's the glam drops from maps, Deep Dungeon, and Exploration zones that you can sometimes find for really affordable prices on the Market Board. There's some pieces from Eureka that I tend to call "Babby's First Glam" because of how affordable they can be. Sorry for the infodump. Glam sources in FFXIV is something of a Special Interest for me because apparently my WoL is my Barbie Doll and half the point of playing Barbies is to dress them up.

@BlindTaleTeller

As a crafter main for four expansions now I can confirm.. Crafting and Gathering is a whole other half of the game, that often can push you into content you might not have explored otherwise and isn't something more casual players catch themselves trying outside of a friend requesting their help in an instance. (lol this was definitely the case for me but.. I'm the sort who likes making stuff for people and their houses lol! 'oh you want the lightning lamp? TIME TO UNSYNCH RAMUH FOR HIS ORBS BRUH! >:3 [drags two friends with to speed run multiples]') Getting straight into crafting as a new player CAN be super expensive: *UNLESS,* you get smart about it and invest in appropriate gathering a little ahead of your crafts. Up to lvl 50 they're incredibly easy to level. After that however, it does get harder (more consuming in both time and materials; and an added type of timed nodes, and instances just for treasure chest hunting for higher end materials that aren't collected through mobs themselves.) As with any job, you want to keep doing your job quests for each one. I recommend (with gathering) trying to collect those ahead of time if possible.. they ask for a lot in some cases, and the XP does help towards levelling that job as well. Gear does matter after level 20-25.. especially accessories that make HQ turn ins easier. By appropriate gathering I mean.. at least get your main ingredient gatherer going: though be warned they throw other gathering stuff at you as secondary components, like adding leatherworking and some weaving in, if not woodcraft for weapons. If you wanna craft swords and heavy armor, go botany and woodcraft as secondary, and mining/smith for the first fifty levels of main components. If you're a transmog/glamour fan? Crafting can feel a little slow compared to running content as far as getting gear but... you do obtain teh avbility to craft dyes about halfway through? I think it's 25-30, it's been a long time since I passed that benchmark: but I do know it's been streamlined overall since) A major issue with the high priced items is the fact that many of the items required to make them; often require you to run PVE content anyway (8mans like shiva etc, dungeons (omg don't get me started on how many time's I've done hauke's manor for the wax), post-Heavensward treasure instances (...LOTS of those PVE gambling dens lol,) deep dive dungeons (this one gives out the most overall static rewards actually) are the examples I think of off the top of my head. If you want faster more steady Gil.. first you need to get your crafting and gathering to at least lvl 25-30 or higher. Why? Because that's the material cutoff for in-game vendors material supply. Almost anything 15-20 sells for dirt cheap in the housing areas if not at the job vendors themselves in your job guild. Honestly gathering and the refining end of crafting at lvl 30+ nodes is the best way to up your intake FAST. Iron, silver, electrum, cobalt, and black alumen are base mining materials above copper that cannot be bought for cheap from an in-game vendor (houses, apartments, etc): which means either you go get it yourself to continue crafting gear, mounts, airship parts and furniture (the three of which are a slower but more lucrative market.) And depending on the teir especially, you can make a crazy amount of money just supplying other crafters who don't want to, or don't have the time to put the work in, in that way. What do I mean by refining end of crafting? Each job has two types of crafts; gear/main craft (for culinarian it's buff food as the main craft, rather than say weapons or armor): and refining crafts that produce another material from the base collected through gathering. The alumen I mentioned for instance is useless on it's own.. but for a leatherworker at level 15 and again at higher levels with black alumen especially? That alumen is a required to craft your raw leather into the type you use to create gear from shoes and belts, rings for your gathering classes early in, to main gear pieces: and you can only get black alumen through mining. It is not sold by any vendor in the game. Likewise, for as much as some of these will sell unrefined.. they sell even better when for instance: you refine an entire stack of iron ore and bomb ash into steel ingots as another example. And, the higher up you go in level, the more the supplying herd thins: for the most part. Some teirs from heavensward to SB for instance (51-60) are often blown through.. and teh result is: not a lot of supply for the demand: meaning the price tends to stay relatively high even for basic/white gear, leve turn ins and job class turn-ins (yes you can craft most of those and sell them at a decent price: though for some it can be a waiting game.) Anyway, if you do get into crafting: early in the best advice I can give to also make it go faster is this: USE YOUR CRAFTING JOB LEVES.. AND ALWAYS TURN IN HQ ITEMS OVER REG QUALITY FOR EXTRA XP WHEN YOU CAN. You can find a kitter most days (a person who will craft you the items for your leves and your job quests in HQ ahead of time, usually at a price unless you have a goomba like me in your FC who does that kind of thing free for FC mates) but honestly, the first 50 levels are very easy to manage; can be done in under two hours: and will teach you a lot about how to craft and where to get your stuff without paying for it in anything but your own time and effort as you gain levels too. Anyway rambling, lol! Hope some of that helped...?

Eh crafting isn't as expensive if you use the crafting tribes to level
@BlindTaleTeller
@BlindTaleTeller Месяц назад
@@Ladywizard It can be cheapened that way too, yeah! You have to be pretty thorough depending on what you're doing and at what stage of crafting/gathering as well though. ARR's pretty much cover a craft or two per tribe as far as their shops go: but and again.. they do only sell mats up to a certain level; which is part of why those mats are exponentially cheaper than those not in even the beast tribe shops too: especially in regards to timed node items and crafting your items (HQ especially) for job quests. (PS and gawd I personally despised those last ARM quests out of ARR back in the day lol.) Either way beast tribes are stupid helpful all around, especially if you can get them all top tier. Still won't help you terribly much when it comes to actually getting the stuff without paying gil, though. Some of the Ix used to help a bit with that, but not so much since they changed them entirely to quest specific mats like the moogles etc.

The items that drop from the current extreme fights - not something you’ll have access to yet, but a future potential - are usually worth a lot, and can be an excellent prize while grinding out your mount drops. There’s also Eureka, the relic exploration zones from Stomblood. There’s good drops in there, too, but they’re rare. Generally, I’d recommend treasure maps (with portals, so all of the 8-man maps from heavensward on) for gil making, as a lot of people have already said. More of it will come naturally as you try to find something on the marketboard, realise it’s very expensive and/or very few available and then work out how to farm and sell the items yourself.

You can desynthesis gear you find in dungeon you can get mat to sell on market board that sell usually higher than the items themself. And if you really want to grind money, lvl a blue mage, get some spells and farm the vault solo synced, use to be an okey way to make money maybe better tech now. Or treasure map that someone said. **RETAINERS!** Others have mentioned Treasure Hunts as direct gil making, but don't forget about retainers. They're the absolute best passive way to get gil and glam at the same time, you'll build up your dresser and coffers before you know it. This will be a long tip, but trust me. Retainers can only be as high a level in their job as you are at that same job, so give them the same job as one you have at max or intend to max and level them using the 18 hour expeditions. It will take a little bit, but once they're maxed you get them into at least the highest tier crafted gear (NQ is ok). Then you send them out on 1 hour Quick Ventures, and they have good odds of bringing something of value back. It can be anywhere from 1 crystal (ouch) to a venture coffer. Coffers contain dyes, including pure white and jet black - those are good money makers if you're lucky (450k-500k per dye on my server). Retainers will regularly bring dungeon and raid gear back too, and sometimes those make for cool glam. Lastly, you will randomly get expensive (150k-600k) crafted glam from Quick Ventures. If you don't want to keep it, you can sell it and get the ones you do want. Alternatively, you can tell retainers to get specific beast drops for you so you don't have to go farm them yourself if you want a consistent, guaranteed income. Or if they're a gatherer, they can gather specific mats to the same effect. I personally like using Quick Ventures because receiving the dungeon and raid gear to turn in for GC seals ensures that I always have more ventures to spend, continually feeding the machine. But there are lower level mats required in higher level crafts, meaning there's always a demand there since nobody wants to go back and kill mobs to farm them. And if you are able to pay the extra money per month to get even more retainers, absolutely do it. The passive income generation by retainers is unmatched. Side note, look into doing Frontlines roulette. You don't have to win, and you get a good amount of Wolf Marks for doing it as a daily roulette. Most of that 70+ gear is all really cool. Plus PVP series exp, which gives access to more glam and emotes via crystals and series rewards. Also a great way to passively level other jobs, because you can change jobs while in there and get exp for the one you queued on. And it's a LOT of exp. That was a lot, but I'm actually decent at making gil in this game whereas I'm normally very bad and I was excited to share when you said you were having trouble! I hope it helps, and welcome! Most of my glams come from dungeon and raid drops in ARR and HW. It costs zero gil to look badass but you gotta explore side content to get the good stuff. Moneymaking is done passively just by doing daily roulettes (especially Adventurer in Need) and sending your Retainer out. Retainers can bring back lots of stuff. Make sure you're high enough rank in your grand company to be able to turn in old dungeon and poetics gear for seals. Use grand company seals to get Venture tokens and use those to send your retainers out on Quick Ventures. You can sell or desynth what they bring you. It often doesn't sell for much but occasionally you get lucky and can get 200k+ items, or they'll bring back dungeon gear or even crafted glams. If you level gathering classes, darksteel ore is always going to consistently sell well and if you make your retainer a miner you can send them out on hourly missions to collect it for you so you don't have to worry about timed nodes. You'll need to give them decent gear (meet the minimum Gathering stat and then as much Perception as you can stack) so you can get 11 ores per venture. Grand Company seals are often an underutilized form of currency/income, not just in ventures, but some items like Coke or Hardened Sap can sell for a lot. Check your local marketboard for whatever material is selling the highest currently, and sell them in stacks of 10 or so. Check your allagan tomestones of poetics currency. A lot of people let it sit capped at 2000 tomestones. This is a massive waste. If you can't get anything better for your current job, gear up another job, or buy tons of the highest ilvl rings available just to spend your poetics and turn them in for grand company seals which you then turn into ventures or gil. If you're short on tomestones, go do blue quests and unlock new content and run it. You get massive tomestome bonuses for first time completion bonuses. You'll cap very quickly. while leveling, you should be using poetics to buy capstone equipment (Lv50, 60, 70, etc) and dungeon gear to gear up. Instead of equipping crafted gear you get from normal quest reward coffers, sell those equipment instead. They're often 20~80k crafted pieces from those coffers and is better off being sold than equipped when poetics and dungeon gear outclass it quickly if not immediately.

For gil, there's a specific dungeon you can run, I recommend blue mage, otherwise, you'll need a friend. Run through this heavensward dungeon synced and you get around 500k per 30 minutes. So this several times and you'll have a mil. Also, sell stuff, anything, on the market board. You can get a lot of stuff you don't need or want and sell it, you can spend tomes on things in more dhona or buy mats with seals from your grand company. Find which ones sell the best, you can check pricings online or in game with your retainer.

If you play this game long enough, you will have plenty of gil and glam options. I've been playing FFXIV for maybe 2 years now and I have all the gil and glams I could ever want. It's been pretty painless to get, too. So I decided to get into crafting early in my FFXIV life and had all the crafting and gathering professions maxed out before my first combat job if I recall correctly. To do it properly, I needed more storage for mats so I decided to splurge and get 4 extra retainers in addition to the 2 I already had. Then I found out about sending them out on retainer ventures. Pretty soon, I had them going out on quick explorations bringing back random items every hour. Some of those items I was able to sell on the market board for insane gil. Some were just nice to have for myself as gear, furniture, glams, mounts, and minions. And all it cost me were ventures which are easy to come by. Well, that and the IRL $ of the monthly extra retainer fees.

Great video! I love some of the things you brought up about WoW vs XIV community, esp the mention of how people in WoW would throw your damage meter up in the party chat. I was like traumatized by that behavior and over the almost-a-decade I played WoW, the group experience just got worse and worse and worse. Been playing XIV for about 1.5 years now and I love the community so much. I was able to try things in this game (like tanking!) that I wouldn't have dared to even try in WoW. If you get into crafting, whenever you do the crafting quests while leveling up, craft 2-3x the quantity of items you need to turn in for the quest, and sell whatever you don't turn in to the quest giver on the MB. You'll learn how to craft better, and make easy money from lazy people in the process. Another one that's been suggested that I agree with is doing treasure maps: not only are they just fun to do in and of themselves with some friends (or randos), but you make decent gil from prog'ing treasure dungeons that you can sometimes get teleported into from completing treasure maps, and sometimes end up with rare mats that can be sold as-is on the MB for decent gil (~2-5k+), or easily crafted into highly-sought-after transmog/glamour pieces that sell for pretty good gil (~150k-1M+, depending on the item). The more you learn about the game's content, crafting, and gathering, and your server's economy, the more gil you can make.

One way you can make money without being at end game is running deepdungeons like palace of the dead and heaven-on-high. If you can find a couple chads to run with you to the high floors, you can have a chance at good drops. Palace of the dead can drop the nightmare pegasus mount (floors 150+) which can sell for 10-20 mil depending on the server. Otherwise, the dungeons can drop other minions, gear, dye that can sell for up to a 100k. I'm sure there's a video on youtube that explains all of this. I'll just add a caveat that the dungeons can be quite difficult at the higher floors where you can find the good loot, so that's why I suggest joining some friends or putting up a party finder.

Gil making is a fairly mindless endeavor for me, mostly revolving around gathering and/or crafting. 1) New patch/expansion hustle. When a new patch drops that has new craftable gear, the materials to make it will be in high demand, so mindless grinding gathering stuff works well. For the combat class focus, then treasure hunting specific maps will possibly net you some valuable materials. 2) High end crafters will need stuff when they are first setting up. Mostly, materia. To get materia there are a few things you could do... Find something easy to make, to get white/purple (colour will change with new patchs/expansions) and trading them in for materia that sells ell at a good price. You can do crafting and spirit bond a piece of equipment and extract materia from that. Do your weekly Wondrous Tails book and try to get 1 line, take the bronze scroll and trade for the correct Cluster or Crystal to exchange for 3 materia.... Right now the Craftman's Cunning VII goes well, as most crafting gear is capped at +7 CP from melding, for example, and most guides I've seen have you put this on last and it can take 1 or 100 attempts to meld... or more... 3) Buff food/drinks/items. Again I deal mostly with the crafters, but the highest end food like... I think it's Jhinga Biryani, and the craftsman's draught are still used by crafters for some of the more expensive gear that gets shelled out. I remember using a ton when making the relic tools... and they are consumed, so repeat market. 4) Retainers can be sent out to gather goods for you as well, some of the more annoying items may not sell for a ton individually, but go pretty fast and reliably for a good amount. I'm collectin g a lot of Berkanan Sap right now with mine for example. 5) finally... and I don't SUPER recommend this one but if you're only after money... (been playing for quite a few years, I have a bunch of friends online and we keep in touch with Link Shells, rather than everyone in one FC as we all have different wants from an FC)... me and one other friend made an FC, got a house, and setup a workshop for subs, and they can spit out a decent amount of gil if you're willing to learn how they work. I'm going to be 100% honest, my friend does most of the heave lifting here and I did a lot of the grind to get the materials to get things off the ground... or in the water... FCs however are a great way to meet people, build a community and have fun, so few new players I would recommend that over selfish grinding.

7:30 --- Well phrased. We got it seared into our brains that MMOs are not about lore and story but gameplay and doing it with other players. Thats not the case here - the former part that is... Devs actually take great care of their world building and as someone comming from WoW and GW2, who dont give a ratsa** about pre-established lore, (and someone who actually likes Fantasy and reading) this was a welcome respite. May not be everybodies cup of tea, but I would still say, "give it a try, you wont know if you like it if your former experiances were these other games". 12:40 --- At early game... yes, its hard to get proper glamour. What I do on my alts, that dont have any money on them, is picking one good chest piece and combine it with the lvl1 glam items you get as log-in rewards for your first, I think, 30 days. You can also mix and match your race-specitic armor and the "undergarments", chemise and pantalettes, and dye them accordingly - as a catgirl, that should be no problem at all. Also, PvP has some very good glam pieces you can farm. I would recommend doing Frontlines: they give a ton of XP for alt jobs and are actually even fun with all the chaos and flashes and death :D You can also scour the Marketboard for some cheap items, that wont blow away your hard earned gil in one go - but yeah, you have to search for it. - Another way to get glam is... making it yourself as a crafter. But Crafting is... not easy. Or rather, it is easy, but it'll take a lot of time if you're low on funds and have to gather everything by your lonesome. - And, of course, the cash shop: I dont know if you're on the Free Trial, but if not, there are glam sets from previous events that go for pretty cheap (depending on your rl funds, that is...), so its worth checking that out, too. ... As for getting money... this early, all you can do is MSQ and dungeon rouletts. You might want to start gathering, meaning Mining, Botanic and Fishing, and sell the mats, but keep in mind, these are seperate jobs that you need to level, too, and it will take some time out of your schedule. Of course, if you want to stick with FF14, it will be a good thing to have your gatherers up and going because you will need them when you start crafting - if you start crafting, that is... though that too I would recommend for later (much later...) : if you level all your crafters (yes, all of them... best if you do that simultanously), you can repair your own gear - you only need the corresponding level of Dark Matter, but thats easy to come by, and your crafters can be 10 levels below the gear that you want to get repaired. - But this is info for when you have finished MSQ. Gathering can be fun if you want to take a break from MSQ or if you just want to do something else. Ocean fishing btw is a super fun mini game (unlocked at lvl1 or 5), and your XP will go through the roof :) 13:45 --- Ah yes, Treasure maps. If you are lucky and get deep enough, you might get the expansive stuff. Personally, I'm not the fan: the RNG-gods never seem to favor me ^^° Talking about maps, you can also do Hunts. Though I do recomment to first get to their discord ("Centurio Hunts FFXIV") and track it: they do world bosses of varying levels/ranks and they usually drop gil, tomestones and nut sacks that you can exchange for minions, sometimes mounts, sometimes glam, bardings... a lot of stuff. - Also, glam: Gold Saucer got you covered. Some of it is silly, but some is actually really good to mix-and-match. 14:20 --- Do NOT buy gear. You dont need it. Trust me: you dont need it. You get gear from MSQ and you get gear from dungeons. When you have finished one expansion (except EW at the moment, but that'll change when DT drops), you will unlock vendors from Rowena's House of Spendor. These vendors are located close to the big Aetherite in the big cities and they sell raid gear from that expansion. And that gear... it will carry you for a looooooong time, basically the next 10 levels! The only jobs that might have to take care of better gear after 5 or 6 levels are the tanks, but even then you get it from dungeons - you might want to run them more than once, though, but dont make yourself crazzy: you can still tank the whole way through, just not wall-to-wall, except if the healer is a god :D So, yes, again: do NOT buy gear from the MB. Don't. Just dont. Yes, it looks cool but there are other ways (that I have just listed, and a ton that I forgot) to get it. FF14 is more like GW2 in that respect where you farm a certain currency to exchange for a certain set, and way less than WoW (except maybe when you do Treasure maps and get lucky - several times in a row). 19:17 --- Its similar here: do not go to the RP night clubs if your aim is proper RP. I can recomment the Endless Nights discord: though they mainly advertise the nightclubs, they also have a many smaller venues like simple cafés, bars and libraries. Might be worth your time to find likeminded RP friends? Maybe there are other RP discords, but I wouldnt know... I read in every game. I started with Guild Wars (the real version) and read every quest in WoW. Yes, a walking encyclopaedia, at least until 8.3. That FF14 requires a lot of reading, thats no issue for me, especially since my attention is rewards - as you already pointed out. I couldnt say which scene had the most impact... honestly, I loved the game from day 1, or rather hour 1: I picked FF14 over ESO after quitting WoW because of the Free Trial (back then only until lvl35). Yes, there are slow moments, but I like those, too: in GW2, I felt like the world was on constant fire and I'm the fire figher rushing from one emergency to the next. Go to your friend - there's fighting. Go to the city - there's fighting. Hell, go to your grandma - there's fighting! It was so tiring, and annoying... Must be a me thing... Anyway, seems you're enjoying yourself sofar and unlike WoW, the ride will only get better and better. That at least is something you can count on :)

My first thought on making money fast is 1) selling furniture items - there are some fairly simple crafts that sell well, like simple curtains and wooden lofts. 2) selling crafting crystals - you can get these from special nodes, they sell in huge stacks for fast cash, but there is a lot already being sold usually. 3) crafting special drops from dungeons/trials into items - this includes glam gear, minions, barding, weapons, and orchestrion rolls. 4) sending your retainers on quick ventures and selling the goods they come back with. These can be less valuable most times, but every now and then they bring something lucrative. Using GC seals to buy material containers and selling the mount/minion is similar. Doing bozja/eureka for fragments might make you steady cash too. Overall, find something that is either required for content or that collectors might want and it'll sell nicely. Goodluck! Re glam gear, there are so many cool items sprinkled through all the content, I'd suggest checking out eorzea collection and finding out where they are all hiding

@@ToastyDIY Pretty good comment from andream I'd just like to add that gathering/crafting at the release of a new patch can net you huge profits if you can gather/craft the stuff needed for the newest gear. If you don't have crafters/gatherers up then using tomestones to get some of those materials and selling them on can also get you some gil. You can farm out bicolour gems from fates to get some mats to sell too but you won't have encountered that system yet. In terms of money, ive been a gathering main for several expansions and dont really interact with the other side, crafting. Gatherables are often a consistent, reliable if slow source of gil that ebbs and flows with the progress stage of each expansion. For instance, right now, gathering is pretty lucrative even at the end of am expansion, because latecomers and procrastinators alike are leveling jobs and will often need basics. Cheap sales in large quantities is the life for those who like to pound sand.

one way to think of the story of the game is that its like book, all the early boring stuff is to get you familair with the peoples and area's. It really dosent mean much when your doing it but its laying foundations for later stories that will be so much better with that understanding. Its not for everyone, but if you enjoy story, trucking through the boring bits will will payback ten fold.

For glam, you can get some nice pieces off the market board, or from PvP if you don't have gil (just do the daily pvp roulette for easy points). One of the wonderful blessings that so many streamers playing XIV from scratch has given us is that great VAs have taken upon themselves to voice act all the cutscenes, including the unvoiced ones. Sebbywebs is one example of a streamer whose voice acting has elevated XIV to a level of humor unseen in any other Twitch stream to date (including a lot of extra aussie flavor profanity, and New York cabby Tataru.) So if you absolutely hate reading but need to catch up on ARR, find someone who has an archive of voice acted cutscenes out there and have fun. (We've also currently got the actual singer of some of the songs doing a play through with her own voiceovers as Crystal Mommy, with bonus extra spontaneous musical interludes.) Edit: XIV does have some toxicity in its community, but we mostly limit it raiding at endgame, when everyone is expected to perform better. True ire is reserved for players wearing mentor crowns who play poorly, not newbies. (It's me, I'm the player wearing a mentor crown that rolls into a normal raid and starts to get it confused with Savage mechanics and wipes the party. Whoops.) Edit II: FFXIV's version of Goldshire is on Balmung server, the Quicksands in Uld'ah. Balmung and Mateus are the RP hubs in general, so feel free to drop in, but if you're going to Ul'dah, turn on your Busy tag unless you want to get solicited for back alley kinky stuff with strangers.

Welcome to FFXIV You're right about the laziness though, my first million I was selling ore I bought in Limsa for cheap then sell higher prices on the market board, once the average price got too low I stopped. I have had some lucky pulls from retainers (rare dyes and minions, sometimes valuable armor pieces or even just glam armor pieces). Once I got my house via the old housing savage, I also used my little patch of soil to grow plants and sell seeds on the marketboard for a decent amount or even the thavnarian onions. I did do some gathering/crafting and gaining money via the market board, just looking at what is in needed. for example, I was making some oil for a while near the end of SHB that was used to make raiding food, it wasn't hard to make since it was just 1 component but imo the price for the effort was worth doing and I didn't spend a ton of time doing it. I'm not the richest (just hit 69 million last night) but my gil was mostly from the market board the items my retainers bring back or other items I craft/gather without investing a ton of time specifically on things just to make money.

However, there will come a point where gil just simply doesn't matter unless you're looking to buy/furnish houses. In all honesty, gil really doesn't matter while you're initially levving. The game will provide you with all sorts of gear to get you to cap. Just take your time. And trust me. The glam is incoming. Homie you named one of the waist ways to make money, right after you said you don't know how to make money lol. Treasure hunting! It does require a little startup, but no more than 40k. You'll usually end up making your gil back or luck out Leveling factions and buying material with that currency, then sell that on the market board. This only requires some time to level the faction and some research to see what sells. Or you can buy venture tokens for retainers to go on missions. They can bring in good items on the rare occasion. They tend to bring in furniture and that usually sells pretty decent, too. But yeah, market board is the way. The reason its so expensive is that gil doesent matter in this game. you literally get it from everything, and if you are a gamer, you want to get that stuff from in game, and almost all glam on the MB is obtainable, like anything else on the MB, from actually playing some content.
