This is the Star Trek I remember. Maybe it's a different cast, production, music... But the heart and soul of what made me love Star Trek is here. I think this is something that Paramount has lost.
Agreed 100%. Imagine starting off the new series of movies with the destruction of Vulcan. Paramount ruined everything that made Star Trek special and turned it into a mess!
It was nice to see the return of Mason and Archer. The characters were missed. And a wonderful cameo by Captain, I mean Admiral, Garth. Looing forward to the future of the Avalon Universe.
Well, that's one way to bring a character from the dead. The wonderful and strange world of Time travel. Plus at it's heart, Star Trek is all about exploring the Unknown both outside and inside of ourselves. Talk about a First Encounter to remember.
The use of lighting in this episode was EXCELLENT. TOS Trek sets really shine (literally) with the flood lights turned down, it lets the buttons and screens really stand out... this was done to great effect in "Mirror Darkly", and proves that TOS sets can look great, engaging, and modern. Just kill about 50% of the overhead lights. In the hallways, so many buttons were visible, spotlights on the conduits, etc, the lighting took this to the next level. No need to match TOS ultra bright lighting meant for 19" low res CRTs, this new style should be the standard; already giving us updated designs, aspect ratio, don't hesitate to resist that "ultra bright, no shadows" TOS lighting. This looks SO GOOD, and very expensive. Easily at least the match, or better than, most official network Star Trek shows. And the acting is also VERY GOOD. Please keep up the great work, this is amazing work, can't thank you enough for the quality Trek you're creating!
I realized what this episode reminded me of. Star Trek Generations. Everyone thought Kirk had died on the Enterprise-B's shakedown cruise when she sideswiped the Nexus ribbon; in truth, Kirk was pulled into the ribbon.
True, just like a good afternoon TV Soap. So, unless you see the body at the funeral ... and even then somethings it was, just the body of their unknown twin brother or sister they can always, come back to help the daytime viewership ratings (smile...smile).
Another Excellent Avalon Universe Star Trek FAN FILM...🚀.All Hands...Writers Actors directors, props, storyline...Intriguing, engaging...exciting...stuns the imagination indeed.🤔...As Stated WELL DONE INDEED..🗣So Say WE ALL
Awesome job on this fan film it truly shows and is an example for compassion for those who have lost love ones in the past and how to move on after a great lose.
I came across this by accident and a happy accident it is for me! I remember about the shuttle exploding from that previous episode. At first I wasn't sure where it was going but I was patient enough to understand and I'm glad that I got to see it in its entirety. I say Bravo! A job well done! Please continue this fine work hey you people do and bring more for all of us to see and share. Live long and prosper!
You guys ROCK!!!! Not only is the script top notch, but the cast are great too. You're SO very much better than most of the so called commercial TV that I see. I am looking forward to seeing more or your excellent work.
I really enjoy Avalon so I lit a joint and started watching. Half way thru, mary jane kicked in, and I had to re watch this like 5 times to understand what the heck everyone was talking about. But it's actually a great little story. Please keep the vids coming!
Avalon Trek Crew, never met a TOS set it didn't want to make spooky af. Thank you actors who we were told had moved on to other things, for coming back!
I love it! GREAT story and production value, acting, everything. I think that Avalon is the best Star Trek fan production going. Can’t wait to see more! I’m so glad that you brought these characters back!!!
This was fantastic !! Well done !! The cast was phenomenal !! The special effects a 10 + !!! Michael J. Fox out done himself in "Back to the Future Too?!" I love how he saves the universe and his offspring so that he can return back to 1985 again. The Academy Award should go to Michael J. Fox for this performance. "Whoopsie Daisey !! That's not M.J. Fox ?! That's another actor ??" *Sigh"* "Thank you Avalon for making this !!"
This is so great, the attention to detail is incredible and the storylines are right on Star Trek! Acting maybe a bit sketchy but the enthusiasm makes up for the shortcomings. Loved the line ‘I’ve never died before’!
This story brought me to tears. I've lost two children to miscarriage, so I understand that indescribable pain more than most. The film was simply done, yet incredibly powerful at the same time. Now, on a lighter note, I need to know a few things... First, how and when did Mason have a "subspace" wife?! Who was Franklin to Archer? And now that they're four years in the future (convenient but useful trope to bring back dead characters), what ship will they end up on? Will it be the Excalibur and will they keep her intact more than Ramirez did (no offense, Lance!)? Will we get to learn where Ramirez and Beck are now? And it's interesting that you've included Garth in this in your universe, this must be sometime before he went cuckoo and ended up on that prison planet... if, in the Avalon universe, he ever did. I knew it would be some kind of bubble universe they were in, but I love how you made the place subspace itself, with time, space, energy, and thought combining to create subspace itself. I already can't wait until the next film to see some of these questions answered. Well done, Tyler, Victoria, Josh, and team.
It’s mentioned in Ghost Ship that Mason did a subspace (long distance) marriage. They were together on the Saladin before Mason transferred to the Oberth, as mentioned in Demons.
So sorry for your loss Christina. Josh drew on his own real life experience for the writing of this one. I myself get teary-eyed at the scene in sick bay and when Mason gets to see what his daughter would have looked like had she been born.
Thank you for watching Christina! In answer to your questions: Mason and Archer will have their own arc. Garth didn't go crazy in this Universe, he continued on in Starfleet and became an Admiral. As for what ship they all end up on.. Well, you'll just have to watch and see!
Wow! I am truly amazed by what you did here. This is a wonderful story keeping with the best traditions of the Star Trek saga. Once again you presented a wonderful story that has depth and substance. You touched our hearts. The production was amazing. The sets are incredible. Let me share a thought with you. Gene Roddenberry was ahead of his time. Much in the same way George Lucas was with his creation. My thought is this. Star Trek TOS lasted for three years. You know the behind-the-scenes story better than I do. The last season was lacking, in some stories, due to management, as you know. Later, Star Trek TNG came around. That franchise prospered due to many reasons. They managed to create 7 seasons. That is an excellent achievement. You have emulated many of them. _If TOS had been produced by Avalon I have no doubt Star Trek would have had at least ten seasons._ I mean that sincerely. You are on a bold adventure! I hope that you continue to grow as you have in a relatively short time. Whatever your formula is: keep it! Don't compromise your standards, your creativity and your vision! If I were a very wealthy man I would support you! But, alas, I am approaching my seventh decade! I live an a slim income! (Sorry). Keep using the writing devices that Gene created to advance great stories: time shifts, the transporter, and all the others! Keep the style of telling a story AND edifying us. Unfortunately Hollywood is forgetting that. They think that merely entertaining is enough. It isn't. Study Serling and Joseph de Stefano of Outer Limits fame. They had great writing formulas! Treating the classics is always a sure bet! Thank you again! As Darth Vader would say: "Impressive".
I've really enjoyed all the episodes I've watched thus far, but I have to say that this...especially the end, was absolutely outstanding. And Alec Peters' cameo...awesome!
Now I feel better seeing Mason alive again. That’s the great thing about Star Trek. You can make anything happen. LOL! I never died before. Yes ya did and now time has made you alive again. Yahooo!
The was so amazingly wonderful hit the heart and soul like a 10 ton brick. The actors doing the actors truely brought each one to life. Felt like I was interacting with each one them. This one truely made me cry couldn’t stop crying For an hour. The Special effects where out standing couldn’t get enough of this episode I have watched it at least 20 times so far. And each time I watch it I can never stop crying. Great job to all the people behind the camera and it front of it you all where outstanding and excellent my hats off to you all what an incredible job well done can’t wait to see what ya have in store for us again. God bless you all, take care, stay safe , and be excellent to each other. Theirs to much negativity out their in the world. And time is to short to waste. Love you all greatly tel next. Live Long and Prosper.
The story is a great example of why Avalon is so good and IMO, league's better than current ST series. Instead of just pulling some half-ass deus ex machina to bring Mason and Archer back, you actually brought it around and deepened the original story, gave new story line, and flrshed out Mason's character. All at once and all in 20 minutes.
Loved it, Loved it, Loved it. So glad they were brought back. This was better than some actual Star Trek shows, we won't say which but we all know. Loved it.
Great episode. If i hadn't been watching Trekyards i wouldn't have known that this video had been posted, and I'm a subcriber. Anyhoo, great work from all involved, anything Samuel Cockings is involved in is bound to be superior!🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖
So good with the acting compared to other fan content. I hate the 2x4s in the shuttle craft though. If you guys want to film a Klingon Shuttle from the TOS era, I have a doozy design for you all that I have 3D modeled, and am wanting to build a full scale filming replica. The challenge to myself was to pretend that I was making it for the original series, so I designed it to be made out of Plywood, and I intend on making the full size prop so that the walls could be removed like they did with the Galileo in TOS so they could film. This probably isn't necessary any more though because or how small the camera's have become.
