Incredibly colorful supercell time lapse with a white rope tornado, brilliant double rainbow and intense lightning activity as this storm journeys through the magic hour lighting. To license footage contact hankschyma@gmail.com ..... This video is composed of over 5000 still images animated to create a time lapse. Several events of isolated thunderstorm activity are used to tell the story of a single thunderstorm and associated phenomenon. All storms were photographed between April 1st and July 1st of 2015 in tornado Alley except the rope tornado footage from 5-17-13. The music "Pillbox" was composed by Pecos Hank Schyma and originally recorded by Southern Backtones and can be purchased online everywhere. The narration is by the multi-talented Bee Xoomsai. Contact her at BeeXoomsai.com
Blue skies soar over an increasingly unstable atmosphere as tornado watch is issued.
An isolated thunderstorm rises high into the atmosphere and precipitation begins to fall.
Sheets of rain reflect, refract and disperse sunlight into the visible color spectrum.
Cloud-to-ground lightning activity increases as the storm begins to rotate.
A tornado warning is issued. Source: Radar indicated rotation.
The mesocyclone lowers from the base of the storm.
A confirmed tornado has been reported.
The explosive updrafts flatten into the ceiling of the troposphere.
At sunset, the isolated thunderstorm creates a dance of light and color.
Decreasing sunlight reveals more and more lightning activity.
Bursts of cloud-to-air lightning reach out into the naked sky
Downstream, mammatus clouds sail underneath the storms anvil.
A full moon emerges from behind the storm clouds
Icy cirrus cloud crystals refract moonlight into a lunar halo.

It's hard to imagine that your productions could get any better than they have been, but this is easily your finest work to date. Your narrator here is first-rate, to be sure, but I do prefer hearing the easy, laconic timbre of your own vocal narration -- since you were there and I get a sense of you re-living the moments in a kind of awe-humbled tone. Nonetheless, there is nothing out there in the natural photographic profession that tops these captures.

Oh come on guys, be nice. He still may have been inspired by Nat Geo, and even if you are professionals, there's no need to be so harsh. If you have seen any of their "Wild" series or their "Paradise Islands" series, then you'd know what I mean. If you haven't, check those out. Just hearing those programs puts me right there amidst all the scenery and the action. Even the music they chose to accompany those episodes is so beautiful. Pecos Hank has his own, personal way of bringing everything to us, and we can all do with more of this inspirational material. Besides all that, I know I couldn't ever do as well as he or Nat Geo can do. That reminds me; I'd love to record some vocals to accompany some of this material or anything else like it. If only I had the equipment to do it, I would. That's what I love about music, because sometimes, there are no words to describe what I'm feeling whenever nature comes alive and shows her awesome and sometimes fearful strength. Glory to God! We dont tend to get many thunderstorms here in the UK and if we do, they're usually fairly weak single cell storms. In summer big supercell storms often brush past the very south east of england tracking NE from southern france and onto belgium. Ive never seen a supercell in the uk myself but occasionally we do get them in summer but nothing like the big US storms in tornado alley or the ones they get in australia. I did see a spectacular thundersnow event in cheltenham/england a few years back though. The storm approached as a near vertical wall of pink cumulus, very very tall and a long storm front, i couldnt see the anvil though. It was december and it was an approaching arctic cold front. The temp dropped from 7 degrees celsius to -2 celsius within about 30 minutes to an hour. It started as rain, then sleet, then total whiteout within about 10 minutes or so. Very bright vivid blue lightning but no thunder strangely. The snowflakes were huge and it was snowing very heavily. It passed after about 45 minutes and went clear and very frosty.
@revenevan11
@revenevan11 4 года назад
Old comment I know, but it's not unheard of for thundersnow lightning's thunder to be quiet. The snowflakes dissipate the sound in a much shorter distance than in clear air. Thanks for sharing the story of such a cool (no pun intended) experience!

I have exactly one criticism. Why did you choose a commentator with a British accent? Let's hear and celebrate American regional accents in American work.

I like it too, but what's wrong with an American regional accent? I mention this because it seem in recent years that a lot of American TV shows, and even commercials for everyday things like household products feature announcers with BBC styled British accents, also know as "received pronunciation". It seems a bit contrived to me. Another point is that most Brits do not talk in this manner since they have their own regional accents, some more "desirable" than others.

Beautiful work Pecos Hank! You have inspired me so much about storms and weather, I wanted to thank you for that. My friends and I are going storm chasing this summer because of people who appreciate the weather so much just like you.

You know that sound that Sideshow Bob makes when a rake handle clocks him in the face? That's my reaction whenever I hear someone say "light-en-ing". Fantastic video non-the-less.
