Because humans relationship to fire is so ancient, tangible and universal - it is always in touch with our souls.
You cannot talk about wood and fire without mentioning the Cold. For the Vikings it was the matter of life or death. If you had a little firewood you would freeze - If you had too little you would die. Every year you needed to supply yourself with enough or suffer the consequences of poor judgement.
Firewood warms you many times. The First time is when you chop down the tree. Second time when you transport it home. Third time when you cleave and stack the firewood. The last time it warms the whole winter for you and your family.
A man can be greedy on the gifts, slow to get new furniture or choose to build a garage instead of going on holidays. But the man that let’s his family freeze - has a flawed character.
