In 2019, the Columbia Big Band was invited to provide the featured evening entertainment at the Columbia, MD, Independence Day Fireworks at the Lakefront of Lake Kittamaqundi. Naturally, the band was incredibly excited to perform at the hometown celebration, in front of an enormous standing-room-only crowd. The band performed two sets, right up until the fireworks began.
The audio mix is taken directly from the console as the stereo-out mix sent to the mains.
Jerry Grey and the Glenn Miller Orchestra make their second appearance on this setlist with “A String Of Pearls”. This version, though lacking Eddie DeLange’s lyrics, resembles the instrumental released by the Glenn Miller Orchestra on November 8, 1941, as the B-Side to “Day Dreaming”, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard Best Sellers for two weeks in 1942.
