Anyone who says the Champ can't be put in a pants pocket or isn't suitable for a EDC has never carried a mobile phone. Or keys. The Champ is an incredible feat of engineering, so compact for the versatile toolbox that it is. Using it around the house as well as during voluntary works, I'm impressed how useful each of the tools is, including the fish descaler/ruler tool. Well done Victorinox.
Bargain of a lifetime-I scored a Swiss Champ at a yard sale for $5. The guy said it was a gift for his son’s graduation, but he never used it and it sat in a drawer all these years. I researched it and it appears to be pre-1970, indicated by the steel bail, rather than the current keychain/lanyard style. It’s as close as I’ll get to one of those “Porsche in a barn” stories.
I’ve had a Huntsman for years and received a Champ as a gift about 6 months ago. It’s now my everyday carry and I only tuck my Huntsman in my pocket if I don’t want to wear the Champ in its sheath. Both are excellent and so versatile. The Champ is my dream EDC and this is an excellent video!
The stripper can be used as a wire bender....the chisel as you used it, is the scraper function...flip it, & you have the chisel function...the fish cleaning tool can be used for cutting & designing pumpkins...the tip can be used as a screwdriver for certain types of electronic equipment...nice method of opening the can...thanks...good video! Subbed....😊
Very nice purchase, I was always swipping between the explorer (for the in-line phillips and scissors), the camper (saw), the angler (pliers), and the mountaineer (metal file), when i bougth the swisschamp, I did never need another, and the size is not THAT big, very manageable.
I love my Champ. The fish-scaler/discorger/ruler can also be used as a scribing marker for penciling parallel lines along from the edge of a piece of wood/plastic. The U-shaped bit at the tip can steady short nails/screws for driving, too. Not a fan of the pen, though - I think it should be repurposed for something else, like nail fastenings, thread, or fishing line. Although I get the idea if in a pinch to write something. I love the pliers on it, they're perfect for jewellery repairs, fine grip, third-hand, the works. However, all this time I've been using the can opener by gradually piercing, instead of running it forward 🤦 thanks for that!
I have been carrying SAK's for 54 years, starting with a Tinker, then 39 years ago a Craftsman, and then last year, a step up to a Champion Plus. One thing I wish Victorinox would do would be putting a diamond file on one side such as Leatherman has done.
Totally understand! Have you checked Swiss Knife Shop (NH, USA)? Established in 2002 and family-run business. They sell Victorinox, Buck, Leatherman, Case, Böker, etc. Prices are fair, and they do run specials and discounts from time-to-time. (You can also sign up for their e-mail notices of specials & discounts.) Hope this helps... Happy Trails! 🇺🇸 🏕 🌲
i didnt get the booklet or that nice form fitting box with mine....i just got the standard SAK grey box...... love my Swiss Champ tho.....EDC fa sho....
Hi Jony. Congratulations for the channel and thanks for the video. One question. ... Which SAK model is your favorite, to carry in any situation?. Thanks
I like the SuperChamp, as it still resonates with my inner 12 year old 😁 However, for me, it's too heavy to make for a practical EDC, so I'll stick with my weekly rotation of climber, compact & companion with plus scales for urban use. When Outdoors, I often carry a camper, huntsman, hiker, or farmer. Thanks for sharing, ATB Gus 👍🏼
Jony Fire - Enjoyed your video featuring Victorinox's Swiss Champ. Really liked how you filmed opening out the tools and segued to a functional example; and your tactful & clean use of the fishscale demo. with the toy stuffed fish had me laughing 😂. Awesome job! Love the Swiss Champ - it is so compact & versatile for the amount of tools in it... many of which can be creatively utilized for many other tasks other than the main design purpose (e.g., the multi-purpose hook can be used to easily carry bundles where handles or cordage would cut ino the hands, bend/coil wire, manipulate accommodating hardware, etc.). Happy Trails! 🇺🇸 🏕 🌲
I have the now discontinued Champion Plus which just lacks the pliers. I already carry a Leatherman Wave, so I have pliers, and given that you frequently need another tool such as a screwdriver to use with the pliers, having them on the SAK just makes it too bulky for my taste. That is not to say that someday I may wish I had the pliers for some delicate task which the Wave won't accomplish.
Tried most multi tools im uk champ is number one only thing comes close leatherman juice pro or xe6 i edc the champ ,champion before that and a pair of knipex xs lol😮 and whatever uk legal beauty in my rotation
Not that big at all ... I have carried a Swiss Champ or Champion in my front pants pocket for over 40 years ! ! ! ( all my Victorinox knives are PRE "pin" style ) Actually I can say I am carrying the SAME knife for all those years ... nothing other that the scissor spring has needed replaced ( like 6 times )
Ironic you're scaling a pillow instead of a fish I have never seen anybody scale of fish with one of those tools actually you're the first person I've ever actually seen use the hook removal tool I had no idea how to properly use that
