Thank you! I've tried in the past a Line 6 HX Stomp and the EHX Mono Synth for bass synths, but I always wanted a MIDI out to trigger an external arpeggiated synthesizer. It would be interesting to see a followup video with MIDI tracking to external gear.

The FI does not send MIDI notes. If you wanted this with good tracking you should look out for the Axon AX 50/100 and a special pickup for your instrument.

Don’t know why my previous comment didn’t post. I run an FI Facebook group which folks are invited to join to exchange ideas about the FI. I have been heavily involved in the development of this pedal from v3.00 onwards and quite a lot of the features and improvements in v3 were mine. I also wrote the user manual for this pedal. Folks are also encouraged to install the editor as it also gives direct access to the many presets I shared in the cloud. About 1/5 of the v3.5 factory patches are mine, some of which were demoed in this video.

I am like you brother Mc G I go way back in my days with these types of Synth effects. Some are good some not so good. This one sounds pretty nice. I have been looking for one lately, trying find something that will give me the EXH Tube Zipper sound :) This with the right distortion may do it.

A killer demo on that bass synth. I'm getting one. Just imagine if Tim Starace broke that out for a song or 2 and how the audience would react. I really like the versatile, yet simple interface in the software. Like you won't need a degree in sound engineering to use it. Right In My Wheelhouse!!!

Hi, great video. I purchased one. If i got it right you said that de FI send out the notes you play also thru midi out, is that correct because i've tryed it but nothing happend.

I wish it did, but it doesn't. As far as I know they ran out of memory making it impossible to add new features to the unit. Maybe the V4 will get this feature, who knows.

I really like this pedal and it's modern technology flexibility. I find it hard to get a synth pedal that gets that tom sawyer tone. This seems to grab that more. Go from bass to Jordan rudess in one step.

Wow, love it - some brilliant sounds out of that! I think this unit could be slightly enhanced by being able to interface with something like a Boss FS-6. That would allow you to move up or down the effects quickly with much bigger foot switches. Where an FS-6 input would be really useful is if you wanted to flip from one soundscape to another in a track, then go back down to the previous effect again really easily without having to worry too much about the accuracy of where you're stepping combined with getting a double tap right if you're moving down. One tap to go up a preset or a double tap to go down a preset, could get a bit tricky if for some reason you needed to go up a couple of presets but went down instead, or needed to go down a couple while playing. Bit of a horses for courses type thing too - it wouldn't be a deal breaker but I'd prefer the ability to use big foot switches for something like this (easier to use in dim lighting conditions) plus the unit could likely be programmed relativey easily to flip between banks by stepping on both FS-6 footswitches at once. That said, I imagine the pedal would be fairly jam packed with electronics already so whether it would have enough room inside to accomodate another input or not would be another question...

I use my Morningstar MC6 pro to access all the deeper functions (modulation, note freeze, filter cutoff. Panda make a dedicated unit (MidiBeam 4Control) that allows footswitch and pedal operation of any parameter.

@@RodneyMcGYeah I missed that part for some reason in the video. 💀 I think it would be kinda muddy though because of how deep the Taurus is. I know in the 80s a lot of pop bass tracks were doubled with a minimoog. So maybe the future impact-> Minimoog with some bass cut and maybe higher octave would be better than just 2 sources of raw low end.

The Future Impact V3 does not send MIDI note information. If you want to trigger synths via MIDI there's in my opinion no way around a setup with those special pickups. I have both one of those Roland units and an Axon AX 100. The Axon tracks way faster. As long as you don't need polyphonic input or oscillator sync the Future Impact can do almost everything you wish. It's really well thought out and the editor is quite easy to understand. The new V4 even adds oscillator sync so I think there's not much to be desired if you're looking for a monophonic synth.

Correct. It's a monosynth. I'm not sure if that the tracking would translate to external poly instruments though. It's possible

Yes, it uses some standard CCs that do work on all presets for cut off, portamento, sustain asf. In addition to this you can use the editor to set up flexi controllers to change any parameter in real time.

Haven't tried that, but my fist thought is that without an additional controler if it's l;ike other SA pedals, you only have access to a few presets on the unit, and have to switch them manually. The app doesn't look as full featured either. But again, i haven't had it in hand

Until now I have been able to withstand the urge of buying the C4. Peter, do you already have the FI V4? Will it be much more powerful than the V3.6. The only upgrade I found concerning the synth engine was the addition of OSC sync which is something I don't necessarily would need.

I have the c4 its awesome cuz you get to personalize your sound exactly how you want, but it still can sound very artificial and digital. With the future impact you get all these presets that sound exactly right with no disturbing dynamic inflation that you sometimes get with the c4. So the answer is both.
