Working out of her garage, Anushka Naiknaware designed a sensor that tracks wound healing, becoming the youngest winner (at age 13) of the Google Science Fair. Her clever invention addresses the global challenge of chronic wounds, which don't heal properly due to preexisting conditions like diabetes and account for billions in medical costs worldwide. Join Naiknaware as she explains how her "smart bandage" works -- and how she's sharing her story to inspire others to make a difference.

This is really awesome. I never would have known about chronic wounds if it wasn't for this, let alone know that a 14 year old is doing something to help people with them. And then the fact she used her own money and cared about doing all this to help people instead of for making money.

randomgirl L Well her Parents are owed an immense thank u.Because I'm sure she gets plenty of support&encouragement from them..
@iogssothoth666
@iogssothoth666 6 лет назад
randomgirl L well, if her device is useful, and there's one put in bands for chronic wounds, and she earns even a single cent for each, she won't be poor. To say she preferred doing something useful rather than to earn money is nonsense. If you make something useful, you usually earn money. I hope she will earn some money on this (and I don't mean "you go girl, here's 1000$"). If at 14 she invented a thing that useful with the amount of ressources she had, I want her to get as much money as possible from it, so that she can go on and do something even more impressive with it.
@disruptivetimes8738
@disruptivetimes8738 6 лет назад
iogssothoth666 Thats so true. Most people who earn good money actually earn it by doing something usefull. Your salary ist mostly an outcome of your competence. So yeah, she will get some good money out of it and thats how things (mostly) work.
@iogssothoth666
@iogssothoth666 6 лет назад
Stephan Sockel well, there's always the possibility that she didn't patent her invention, so it can be reproduced by anyone without her getting anything. There are also cases of people making groundbreaking discoveries while they work for a company, so at best they get some bonus while the company makes millions. All is not fair and we'll all the time. That's why I said I hope she will get some money out of that. that's not guaranteed.
@iogssothoth666

There's plenty of things out there you just need to see what there is and find your niche. Don't give up keep looking and investigating everything you think you could get on with and then make a conscious decision to go for it. You and only you can do it, you are in charge of your life not anyone else, so get out there and make a difference

World History With Dan She hasn't either. She doesn't understand what she's doing, by her own admission! She shouldn't be using wireless and she should DEFINITELY have a more experienced person writing the software. She won't be able to easily overcome buffer overload or a frozen OS/program. I like her ingenuity, but I really hope no one is pushing her. I'd hate to see her get burned out early and hate electronics.

When she mention the moisture in wound it reminds me the things my father did to heal his chronic wound. My father is diabetic and he had a wound in his shin. He apply a white powder ( its maybe powdered limestone), sometime antibiotics, he wrap it then he did get it wet. He change the white powder frequently. It take months for it to heal completely. Maybe powder absorb the moisture.

I'm right along with those who gave her a standing ovation! What a refreshing example of a young person who believes... Believes.... in one's capabilities.... That a problem needs a solution.... That a single person can make a difference. She is inspiring others to think critically... And believe in themselves. She has an amazing visionary mind. Wouldn't it be great if more kids would begin taking on the problems at such an early age? Just imagine how much better prepared they would be to create and Excell in all the sciences needed to move mankind towards being a multi planet people.

@nowheremap
@nowheremap 6 лет назад
Let's break down how impressive she is: - She found out about a problem few know about: that takes curiousity and hard work. - She researched the problem until she got novel results. That takes broad thinking and hard work. - She designed a piece of technology that solves the problem. That takes creativity, expertise... and hard work. In short, she took over every phase of science-driven human advancement in order to make an actual difference in an important medical issue, in an era when science seems to belong to large organizations dedicated almost exclussively to refining preexisting things. All it took was that special little attitude over a foundation of natural smarts. It makes me feel hopeful for the human potential and the potential of science both!

Nothing is said about what her equipment is trying to achieve When I get a wound that don't heal, it flood the wound with white blood cells and prevent it from healing So for me I need to redress the wound every 2 day, also if I see it doesn't heal I need to scrape of the part that been healing and is currently preventing it from healing Problem no 2 is when blood circulation is low like on the heel, I use powder antibiotic on the wound (the antibiotic powder and the blood dry out usually make it heal from below) You probably get the same result from Antibiotic cream but they don't have it where I am living now! Still think not caring for the wound is the biggest problem when a wound not healing...
