More nerdy analysis please! Seeing how you name the patterns and how they show up in actual recordings from the masters is always enlightening and helps to process and absorb new language. Love it!

You don’t need to apologize for these videos. They are awesome and as a professional musician with over 30 years experience I learn so much from you. None of us can please everyone. It’s not possible. And no one is forcing anyone to watch these. So the haters can go fk themselves. Please keep doing what you’re doing.

What a way to set up Art Taylor's tasty little fill as well. SUCH a delicious example of tension and release!

You really are the best at explaining Enclosures and how they're used.

I've been listening to jazz most of my life to the point where decided to go buy myself a sax. This is the thing hearing music doesn't equal understanding the how's and whys of the music in order to replicate the language !!! Enclosures are a vital part of this. GOD I LOVE THIS ART FORM.

Sherman Irby (JALC lead alto) suggested listening to this album by Red Garland. I put it on most days just in the background - it's sublime 😁

Do not EVER apologize for analysis of great works. If someone gets offended by this or anything like it, it’s pure politics.

Underrated and underexposed. Red Garland was a legend.

This might be nerdy. But you are helping me understand the language. I’ve asked myself, “Why don’t I sound like Red?” By listening to Red, and others like him, I’ve internalized some pieces of the language. However, your analysis is helping put the pieces together. Thank you!

Sounds very similar to Bill Evans' lines! Red preceding Bill of course.

Yeah, that's particularly beautiful. I had this record on vinyl back in the day. I love Philly Joe, but Arthur Taylor was an even better choice for this setting.

FUN, thank you! BTW, pretty sure the 1st note in bar 8 is an A, not a G.

Please, Adam, Red and Paul play C9 on the first two bars of the A section. Try giving up theory and listening to what the cats play.

When you say the first two bars of the A section, are you referring to the third and fourth bars on the top line that have been notated as Gm7 and C7b9 ?
