Thank you for this. ❤ I noticed when i moved my awareness to my brain and began to express gratitude, a thought that came up was "what good has my brain ever brought me?" i had a difficult time feeling like my brain has benefited me at all. I know that there definitely is alot my brain does for me logically though. But im not going to search for those answers because ill go down a spiral of thoughts and mental exhaustion. Thanks again! Xo

That's great. I find it really useful to explore how to feel gratitude to something even if it is this messy thing we're unsure of.

Hi mark this is a brilliant video that I’ve had just found I have never thanked my brain in fact I have always been angry at it for all the ocd intrusive thoughts it gives me but after doing this exercise I feel better & thankful for all the good things my brain does it sounds strange but I feel more at peace with it/myself. Thank you p.s I am really enjoying your book that I have recently bought it is really good & helping me a lot thank you 🙏🏻

Great!! The sole of my feet where really powerful to notice and be thankful of. Obviously the brain was not that easy. But still... I found myself both noticing it and beeing thankful of all the stuff ive felt through my life. Loads of emotional memories/emotions came to my mind while doing this. Thank You :)

Hey Mark..Greetings from India.....I have cut out all type of compulsions that is physical compulsion...But I am still struggling with mental compulsions...Like if I get any intrusive thoughts now my mind is in a constant confusion,like these are my internal dialogues.."Are you absolutely sure,that it is safe to have this thought".."What if you are wrong"..."And even if you are right,is it right to feel the way you are feeling right now"..."Are you going in the right direction or doing the correct things which will help you to recover"...Mark I have this constant chatter in my head..And if I ignore it or as you said stop being certain..The feeling does not go away..It's like always sticking in the back of my head"I am going to make you feel this way in Till,you give me a suitable answer for why this thought is not dangerous and the way I am feeling right now is a normal"...What should I do Mark???

This is a very common experience to run into. Here's a video on understanding mental compulsions that might be useful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ArJrrM_XaDE.html One of the biggest things that helped me with this type of situation was cutting out mental compulsions that I liked. Often, we react to uncertainties in our heads that we want to solve and we like thinking about. That might seem fine, but it only trained my brain to do it all of the time. And then my brain would want to solve uncertainties I didn't like to think about, but it's difficult to stop because I didn't stop engaging in compulsions the rest of the time when it wasn't a thought that bothered me.

How do I recognize things that are bad practices, like things that are bad for my mental health. Like you've mentioned watching countless RU-vid vids about kittens is a bad practice of distraction, my question is how do I find other bad practices in my life?

I define a compulsion as anything a person does to cope with, check on, or control uncertainty, anxiety, and other feelings they don't like.
