What I like about this guy is that he isn’t saying that like the gpus are a disappointment, he just uses them as intended and makes the best out of things
👍 ETA is really helpful for folks who do not already have shelves full of PC parts or who are not trying to build a $2k+ rig. Really has fiscally sound ideas for devices. "It's really up to you," is deep philosophy.
A lot of it is the fact that people's expectations for resolutions have just been completely spoiled. The games actually are still impressive at 1080p to someone who isn't intimately familiar with the finer points of video game graphics
Agreed. It sucks that we can't build a Gaming PC that is more powerful than the new-generation consoles (XsX), at a small console-like size. Not even mentioning the current parts costs. During the late-PS3 era (2011) to the (2015) PS4 era, and then Xbox One X era (2019). It was possible to build a HTPC that would rival the consoles in performance, size, and to some extent cost.
Been looking into sff builds and decided on a velka 3 3.9L case build. Managed to find a msi aero 3060ti to fit into the case. Wish me the best of luck once it all arrives. It's gonna be fun putting all the parts together.
@@chromerims less than that, i use the r5 5600 and the rx6400 with the same motherboard as him, nvme ssd + sata ssd, albeit with a different case, and with a 250w flex psu, and it works just fine
@@mparagames Too cool, neighbour 👍 Also since the time of this video, now the Minisform HX99G (with an dgpu) looks competitive with this eta SFF build . . . at least on superficial specs. Kindest regards, friends.
Just a heads up for folks wanting to try a build like this - the CPU cooler is actually too tall for this to work with the case side panel closed. It pushes the GPU against the CPU fan in a way that causes the screws on the back of the GPU to impede the CPU fan spin. Conceptually, it still works but you need a lower profile cooler like the Noctua NH-L9a for the case to close.
Yup , just found this out the hard way, I ordered the same 47mm cooler thinking it would be fine and its impossible to get the GPU mounted up without it hitting the fan. I just ordered the noctua cooler instead
I just ordered one of these to downsize a 5600G APU Build from the GEEEK A30 V2 as I wasn't a fan of the Acrylic pieces and i don't need a dedicated GPU. I didn't spot this video on your channel but found it in searching. I enjoy your content.
this was the exact same build i planned to do. im feeling regrets now that i didn't push through with it but im happy you did the exact same build to prove that when building sff, just do it haha kudos sir!
@@tpvgg well it's an absolutely terrible card for the money. Gtx 1070 used costs the same with literally 75% extra performance according to techpowerup... If you have a half decent power supply you've bought in the past 10 years then you'll be able to power it as well.
@@JudeTheRU-vidPoopersubscribe you were right my dude, but as for small form factor and low profile thingy the rx 6400 fits it, actually i go for the gtx 1070, but the wattage be fuckin up my bill since i barely turn off the desktop but its kinda worth it tho
@@JudeTheRU-vidPoopersubscribe i had a bad experience about psu that live longer than 3 years, they tend to becoming weak and in conclusion i shouldve bought the 750 watt gold tier 1 psu
Yes I like this form factor for a semitruck running car racing games. The extra cool thing was the lighting. I wanna build one fully tricked out with alot of storage for flight sims too. My last big PC build I added Corsair fans but the CPU never ran it hot enough so the fans never turned on. I think this the mini rig for me.
Yep PCIe 4th gen really does help and I noticed you DID buy a PCIe 4th gen extension cable. I personally would have gone with a 4-lane cable and ensure it is secured on both ends since the 16-lane cable impedes airflow and the RX6400 ONLY using 4-lanes. Also, the RX6400 aluminum cowl from this company is poorly design and I found air leaks around the PCB causes hotspots on the system motherboard. I use my go-to Tesa 51016 high temp wrapping tape to seal the sides open between the cowl and the GPU PCB to ensure airflow is directed out the back and front. I also have a problem with the way this card allows hot air to flow across the auxiliary circuitry in the front of the card. I have also found you need to make sure the air is vented out the case otherwise you are defeating who whole purpose in the use of this card. In my own slim mini-ITX version, I chose to modify the cowl so that it only covered the fan to ensure the upper vented case does not impede the fan from spinning. Then I used copper shims to ensure a gap is kept between the upper case panel (with air grating), this allowed it remain in most situation a cool (35c) and no more than 70c when in full use. More important the hot air is directed out of the case instead trapped in the case, keeping the CPU cooler by 5c-10c. The fact you also have power supply in the case, means you have three fans running making this louder than need be. I for one like external power supplies because you can replace the 19VDC with 6-10AH Li-ION power tool batteries for 1-4 hours of operation. With a simple USB based voltage monitoring tool, you can create a simple way to monitor and power down the PC before the battery goes below minimal voltage (about 17VDC). One last thing. You can find adhesive backed silicone sheets that can be cut to ensure the back of some of these cards provide electrical and heat insulation. I have used it on several builds, including the M6/RX6400 foldable - which is pretty cool to stuff a full operational dGPU/CPU Windows based system in your back pocket or cargo pants pocket. Why? As you would say, because I can. :)
I was able to build the same PC, although the power supply is getting pretty hot and loud. The AMD Radeon RX 6400 specs says that we should not use less than 350W and these power supply are around $100 right now ($60 more expansive than the 300W: which disappeared from Amazon). So I guess I'll just use it until it explodes
It would be nice too see an RTX 4050LP now that the RTX 4060 got released in this kind of format, it could be a nice alternative to get a Single slot GPU.
The case has a version 2 now that uses pico module to power it with external brick. This allows an LP card like A2000 to sit in perfectly without the use of riser cable, and it's 2x as fast as this setup yet maintaining it's 3.8L form factor.
I bought the xfx 6400 card based on your video and commentary and paired with the HP Pavilion desktop with the Ryzen 5700G i know the 6400 is being hindered with the gen 3 pcie slot but using only a 180 watt power supply and i will say i have not been disappointed. So thank you ETA Prime your vids are entertaining and informative
Looks like from Taobao , search SKTC A09, exact same case cost about 25 $USD with riser cable please put ambient temperature in the future for reference PS. new intro is good , but the old altered beast still gives the cyber-nerdy vibe
I bought a Thermalright 47mm low-profile cooler, and my RX 6400 does not clear the fan. I have no idea how you did it. I'll have to go with the Noctua 37mm cooler. Noticed the cooler and the riser cable models were not listed. I went with the 50mm riser cable "Linkup" same brand, which I am convinced is shorter than the one in the video. that silly thing was $92 CDN. not cheap. I did everything the same but I have the 5700g and 50mm riser cable... I really enjoy your content!
awsome!!went air cooled in my q58 itx build, ryzen7 2700 65w tdp chip with a noctua l9a cpu cooler added a fan grill and a 120mm halo fan over top of cpu fan and fits, awsome temps, 4 cooler master halo fans glass on top on both sides ,2top intake fans, side intake and bottom exhaust, 1tb m.2 on mobo,a 2tb laptop drive in front panel, fit a 4tb 2.5in 15mm thick drive dehind psu, also fit another 4tb in front of the other drive at the end of the 2fan gigabyte rtx 2060, the 4tb has an external black shell over it and double sided at empty area at end of graphics card, got a vid on here of it...love the vids!!
@@lorenzovanoordt7894 dude, it plays in 1080p at over 60 fps. With FSR and new tech you wont even notice a drop in resolution. For many many people, this will be more than enough. Not everyone spends 2000 to build a pc and watch youtube/twitch like you
@Fred Manson on top of that you can argue that 4k is unnecessary entirely, and new top of the line hardware cant run it at high fps anyway. So you end up with an extremely expensive machine that gets the exact same fps as this machine, but at a higher resolution. Not worth it for gaming in my opinion.
@@lorenzovanoordt7894 I can probably bet your PC sucks shit lol. Been building PC's for nearly 15 years. Not everyone has the space or lifestyle to fit a full build in. Hell, some people like myself do have their own powerful builds and still choose to have SFF's on the side for living room/office PC's and travel solutions. Not every game needs a 3090ti and i9 to fully enjoy. This tiny beast is cranking out 60+ fps on 1080p on medium-high settings on new AAA's. This is about as good as you're gonna get in a case this small, perfect for those always travelling or on the go, low-powered, powerful build. Comparing it to situations where you don't have to make the compromises you do on a build this small is apples and oranges by every metric.
@@alksdng97834y I don't disagree entirely. For anyone used to 1080p it's great. But personally once I went 4k I couldn't go back. 60hz / 60fps is acceptable and maybe 1440p at a push, but 1080p just isn't enough for me anymore.
Yes, it's currently at the top of my list of cards for transforming retired low profile business machines into 1080p gaming computers, though they are generally limited to PCI-E 3.0 and thus a little bottlenecked.
I did a build with this exact setup and I would recommend a 36mm cooler if you have a GPU. My Pulse 6400 would rest on the bottom of the cooler and kinda was at a bad angle and would slightly bend when I put the side panel on . For the Riser I was able to get a 5cm to barely reach. The A09 case I would recommend a modular PSU or it’s kind of a nightmare trying to tuck all the cables so they don’t get in the way. Otherwise it’s a good build.
I just had the exact same experience, actually. I wonder if the fan he installed on this isn't slightly thinner than what comes stock with the thermalright 47mm Cu cooler
I absolutely love this small form factor builds! I love to see what parts can all fit in such a tiny space. you should try a build in the sky reach 4 mini!
What's the best gaming PC or laptop for $500 to $600? It's for my kids..they want it for Minecraft,Roblox, and etc. Nothing crazy. They have Minecraft for PS4 but apparently there is way more to Minecraft on PC or Laptop. Need a durable, reliable, and solid performing for it's price range. I mean these games aren't or shouldn't be that demanding so there hopefully won't be an issue with playing these with high to ultra settings.
holy cow ive been searching for something like this since rx 6400 came out and i found that a09 was the perfect budget sff case but it seems you were the first dude to make a video about this build, good job.
ive seen some videos with this build and i found out that the sapphire rx 6400 didnt fit in on this kind of case, could only be needing around 2 inches long of a gpus.
wtf am i talking about yes it will technically fit and rx 6400 pulse on a09 but the long ryzer cable wont be able to make those happening, try consider getting the short one.
Idk about this case, I don’t like how the gpu goes infront of the air cooler. Questionable Air flow. Nice build tho. Can you please use the K29! I have this case with the asrock z690 itx/tb4. I’m waiting for the 13100 to put in this and then use my eGPU.
The airflow should be okay with both of them even under heavy loads, these aren't parts that'll get particularly hot. The loads of mesh around the parts should also help a ton. I personally would've gone with an i3/Ryzen 3 for this build, which would just help the thermals/airflow situation a bit more.
Man, I bought some components that you had linked in the description. I was super psyched to build this little thing, but when I actually went to put it together I realized there's just no way that these components are going to fit. I probably should have been paying closer attention, because I noticed that the cooler that was in the link was not the same as the one you used in the video. It also seems that the riser cable is not nearly as flexible as the one you have in the video. I had to pause because I was pretty sure I bought all the components from the links you provided, have you removed any links from the description?
I had similar issue, thought I bought identical parts but ran into an issue with the back of the GPU interfering with the fan blades on the CPU cooler. After checking over the video vs my parts multiple times it looks like his CPU cooler heatsink mounts different to mine (rotated 90 degrees with the curved heatpipes facing the GPU slot. Mine had the curved heatpipe facing the RAM instead, I think if my cooler installed the saw way as in the video I could have slid the fan higher up the cooler and made enough clearence for the fan blade but it wasnt possible for me without using some janky method of securing the CPU fan down. In the end I gave up and just ordered the Noctua cooler, its only a few degrees hotter but give plenty of clearence
the new deskmeet from asrock combined with the rx 6600 is also very nice and just a little bigger than this. There are some variants of the rx 6600 that fit like the fighter card from powercolor or the sapphire one.
@@Ultranique Isn't that case extremely small and doesn't have a cutout for a gpu? How did you manage to fit a 6650xt inside? Edit: my bad, I was thinking of the deskmini as the deskmeet isn't sold on Amazon
Most DIY builds should as small as this by now, but no, bling RGB and excessive fans is the thing. Personally, I'd like a case like this but with the GPU card being external to be visible and no air restrictions. edit: additionally, we should get rid of rivets for cases so that it is possible for building inside-out especially for tight cases like this.
You can use an R5 5600/i5 12400 to save a few bucks, even an i3 12100F would be ok. I saw you use your 5600X in a lot of videos, so I think you don't want to buy a new CPU and use the same CPU for all videos, so its understandable that way.
*****I’m not criticizing **** I’m constantly blown away by how much hardware you can get in a small space. I got the i7 nuc 11extreme into a 5 liter case with a 6700xt recently. I was pleasantly surprised it was tiger lake and supported pcie 4 ( the i9 does not )
For having set up a similar machine, this case is a OVEN for everything inside. The cable management is a nightmare if you don't have a modular flex psu (and even with) ! The electronic front USB panel needs to be definitively removed depending on your mobo. The HDD led is present but doesn't work even when the wire is plugged. The holes on panels are badly designed and don't provide sufficient air flow for cooling components : you need to crank your fans on max to blow sufficient cool air, and by doing so you litterraly transform your pc in a vaccum cleaner. It's interesting to see videos of building a SFF pc, but what people doesn't tell you is how bad and how difficult is the thermal optimization for such cases. By the way, we don't see temperatures of the setup on this video and this for a good reason : it would have made everyone panic !
love the build...I'm planning on , maybe, doing the same one after watching your video. I have 2 questions: 1 - do you think a more powerful GPU can be put into this build and if so which one? 2 - I was also looking into an MSI trident, which AMD graphics might fit into the TRIdent's case?
the only people who should not like rx 6400 are game streamers! but really if you are going to game stream you should use a graphics card with the power to run max settings 1080p 60+ on all games!
Hey I'm an I.t technician at different school sites and i thought about putting together a build like this for when i get bored would u recommend this to be portable with a portable monitor and keyboard? do u think it would be small enough to carry in my backpack too??
Love the build and the small form factor. The two fans spinning on top of each other looks so steampunkish. I'm still struggling to find a small case with a single low profile gpu slot that doesn't have a power supply slot, I want to go for a pico instead. Less noise and I can hide the power brick behind my furniture.
Great new intro, but im still a fan of the older one. Probably because the atmosphere was caught perfectly. It always reminds me of the day it was raining loads and i was alone playing columns lol the rain hitting the roof etc. My room super dark and had a cold damp feeling. It was awesome.
Why would you wonder if an RTX A2000 would fit in there? Why would you buy an A2000 just to put it into a small computer not designed for sizes like those? You know there's better, more viable alternatives, right?
I was just about to buy this case for a small build. Glad you posted this because it gives me more ideas for what I wanted to do. I’m a recent subscriber and I’m in love with your content!
Did you ever consider using A09P case instead? It is 4.2L, same height and width, just about 19mm longer. Basically just as compact but you get slightly more room to work with.
Personally I would have gone with an i3 12100F Cheaper, lower power consumption and about equal gaming performance when compared to the 5600X Only productivity workload and high end emulation would maybe suffer a bit
Hi, I'm really really really tempted to buy that gpu and get a sff going but I'm concerned about how things like screen sharing on discord and RU-vid playback are affected by the lack of video encoder on the gpu.. please respond as I've seen no RU-vidr take on these aspects
