Is there Electric in the tiny homes so they can at least have a lamp and Heat and a fan? I think it's great that they thought of the best thing to give a person is dignity and provide on-site jobs.

Thanks John. This was a great video. Too bad one needs to hit the lowest form of destitute to live in a place like this. Adult orphans could appreciate such an environment. The manager sharing seemed to understand compassion without being intrusive with wounded souls. Very few people get the huge transition in being a homeless recluse to becoming part of a welcoming neighborhood/family. Bravo to him for understanding how homelessness is not just about not having a home.

I think bureaucracy prevents it most of the time. But it also takes a lot of dedicated people, money, and a very long time to develop.

Remembering one family with a small home. Simple with a fireplace and everything within reach. The most cosiest and comforting home I've every been in. Not saying a large home is bad but it was your very own cave. Don't have much to clean. One of the biggest stress relievers.

It’s not enough to just give a homeless person a place to live. It’s not enough to have food. People need connections and purpose. People need to feel useful and valued. Government programs have it backward. I keep hearing that the richest country in the world should not have such terrible poverty. People think that if you give someone a place to live and food to eat they’ll get a job and become a valued member of society. You have to treat them as a valued member of society first.

@@rainbomg they may deserve it but they often reject it. I am acquainted with some of the homeless population in southern Oregon, and it's the reality. Many choose to remain homeless because they don't want to abide by the rules that go with accepting services. They tell me this. This is not a put down.

@@sophirichmanfletcher4657 many of the rules imposed on people by these overnight services are demeaning or unrealistic or worse, force moral and religious expectations on people in order to receive services, and they tend to be very temporary, not to mention dismissive and insulting and risky, when you could be robbed or harmed or turned away for slight infractions or mistakes. There are differences between changing your life to obey a rigid system of control as if you were 13 years old and simply having somewhere safe to sleep. It’s not the rules of society they balk against. They are clearly obeying the rules of society or they’d be in jail. It’s arbitrary rules set by self important people who think they have the right to tell someone else how to live their lives. These are all private charities, not state solutions, which we need. Charities tend to have an agenda, or don’t have the reach or resources to be fair and permanent solutions. Either help them or don’t, don’t give people hoops to jump through before they can qualify as worthy of the most basic dignity. This is, of course, unless you think they deserve to be homeless until they do what you want them to do first and you’re fine with increasing numbers of the unhoused complicating every urban center until then, you know, because they are just so dang obstinate.

That is awesome! And I've wanted to do exactly that for almost 20 years. I don't know why the Lord didn't see fit to allow it to happen though. My previous husband died of cancer and after that, I moved back to FL. Got remarried. We are both disabled Seniors. Reckon if the Lord still wants to do something like that then He'll work it out. I've been sober for 28 years now and I have been homeless. Hubby was homeless also, before he got sober. We've got a friend that is helping him get his VA benefits. They injected him with something years ago and it poisoned him. At least that's what the medical records code says. All of those years, before his parents died, they tried to find out what was done to him and they never got any answers. We are finally starting to get answers. So God isn't finished with us yet! He works all things together for our good.

Totally impressed!! Why cannot people like entertainers, put their monies into communities like this. Especially in Los Angeles, areas where homeless is on the rise. I am sure ALL states can use a community like this. After my own heart! Love this guys, lady's! As I continue to watch this, I have to go back in and edit. I am interested in the project. Question: do you have city water and sewer line for this project? If not, how to solve the issue? I saw you are trying to get water using rain barrels or water well to get water, right? How about sewer line?

Hi mike lai, Thanks for watching and connecting. I have now done a little bit of volunteering for the organization, however this entire tiny home community is definitely not mine. I am a big fan but I do not own this. However from what I can tell this looks to be both city water and city sewer. They Do Collect Rainwater as a way to stay eco-friendly, however this seems to be city water and city sewer. I hope this helps and answers your question. Thanks again for commenting. Thanks for commenting and replying. The set up this community has seems very interesting. Throughout the video we show different jobs that there are to do around the community and outside of the community. All of these folks that live in the park do receive jobs or have jobs, and a place to live. Hope the video answers this question more in detail as well.

I want to do something like this in Huntsville, Alabama...Not sure where to start, but homelessness is a growing problem across the country. Recently, I traveled home to Kansas City to spend time with friends and family during the holidays. Shocked by the staggering number of homeless people! There are makeshift tarp/tent communities under bridges and overpasses across the entire city. Cars pass by as though these people are invisible. Anyone in Alabama want to get a community like this going?

Its not the size or construct of where these people live, thats not difficult. Its behavior and consequences and motivation and mental health that need to be addressed. "Will the individual empty his toilet appropriately? Respect neighbors? Contribute? Abstain from criminality? Not be a burden?" THATS where the problems lie.

I got a better Idea, lets use the tiny homes to help people who want to be helped? people who work? people who will never be able to afford a home of their own? people who will pay outragiously high rent their entire lives, and never get ahead. How about we help these people. May children, will need a million dollars to buy their first home, All while laying 2k a month in rent. Corporations have destroyed the middle class. Lets get homes and shelters for the poor, before focusing on the homeless. Or do the poor need to be homeless before they can get help? Instead of tiny home communities for the homeless, how about tiny home communities for people living of like 20k a year.

Thanks for commenting. It can definitely be frustrating to think that some folks are getting a lot of free housing. However in the video it mentions that everybody in the community has a job and does pay one way or another. I believe the cheapest rent is $200 a month. It is a really interesting concept. There are a number of businesses within the property that cater to the local public. That's were a number of the residents work and make their own money. However I do like your ideas though. Hi Randall. I wish I was taught that kind of stuff back in grade school. Every community needs an education center like the one you described. Perhaps that's where some online video platforms or free groups can be helpful. However the problem there is likely that some of these groups may be taught by folks that really don't know what they're talking about or may be teaching something to promote their own personal gain. I live here in Springfield Missouri. We just had about 6 inches of snow. Iced fist temperature dropped down to 10 degrees. All I could think of was the homeless that was trying to find a place to stay warm.We have so many here. My heart is breaking. I am older with fixed income. I pray for more to be done here. We do have couple who has started a place like this. We need so much more. We have such a drug problem with a lot of the homeless here.

Nation wide is what will help the homeless populations, that are absolutely becoming a major issue for people, due to the pandemic this year, lost jobs, no income because of shutdowns, and no incomes, aside from the medical bills. For Canadians, the pandemic is more or less covered in our national health care plans, but we pay the other way, in not enough hospitals to manage the patients. Waiting lists for surgery is almost two to three years.

I do not know for sure. I would guess probably at least one. However I hope nobody was hurt in the process. They really do have a zero tolerance policy and kick people out fairly quickly with any kind of loud music, drama, drugs, etc. It is cleaner than most other mobile home parks I drive through.

I'm a Jewelry/ AAccessories Designer who has been homeless for the last 6 years due to illness for 3 and 3 for being a Domestic Violence Survivor fleeing. I want to do a lot for the homeless and want to teach volunteering so they can make a living and get off the conditions they might be facing.

How do chronically homeless people afford to pay rent? Judging by your infastructure where did you get the millions of dollars to fund this and how will you ever make it back?

They obviously help them find ways to make money. A lot of times the homeless can’t hold a job bc they don’t have a stable home base.

Very good to hear from you. There was definitely not much of a security force that I could see. I did ask and they said that they do not have many disruptions as they have a one serious strike and you're out policy. If you get into a fight or start doing drugs your immediately thrown out. There is a long waiting list to get into this community so as you can imagine people are usually on their best behavior.

That's amazing. They really need more communities like this all accross the country. Especially for those that have been finding it impossible to rebuild their lives since the system is set up to keep them constantly failing. This just shows how the homeless problem could be solved quickly and even help bring in money. It's really cool to see a self sustaining community and how it can really teach a lot for people. This kinda thing really needs to be made all over the country in every state and fast to help homeless of all kinds.
