Hi dude I like your video. I bypassed Fullerton a couple of times. I have a couple of questions: 1) What was that BNSF train doing in the middle of the tracks throughout the whole video? 2) On 22:33 why is the bottom signal green instead of the top one? Normally I would see that the train with the locomotive would have a green light on the top and if a Cab Car is pulling it, the green light is on the bottom. Is the BNSF locomotive pushing the metrolink train or what?? 3) Regarding to #2 why is there a pair of signals on both sides for each track? I think it is pointless and a waste of signals. Should't there be only one facing in both directions 4) Whats up with the BNSF trains switching tracks like crazy? They keep switching A LOT lol
1) It's in the description near the top. 2) The bottom signal is for trains crossing over to the middle track, the top signal is for trains continuing on the same track. Whether it's the engine or cab car leading makes no difference. The BNSF engine may be powering the train, but it's on there mainly because Metrolink is researching the safety specs of their Rotem cab cars (due to a derailment in Oxnard where one of them fell over) and they're using leased BNSF engines until the results come in. 3) The signals on the right are for trains on the track the Metrolink is on and the signals to the left are for trains on the middle track. 4) You practically answered this in question 1. There's 3 tracks and a freight is occupying the middle track. No change of tracks = head on collision.
