It's a destroyer, not a cruiser, in the same way that China is a developing economy, not a developed one.

Well that's how NATO classifies them, although it's not really that simple. The Chinese don't really use the Type 055 for the sorts of C&C roles that define a cruiser in the NATO classification, and it's development is much more a continuation of the Type 052 series of destroyers rather than a fundamentally different warship (compared to, say, the Ticonderoga and Arleigh Burke). The PLAN has never really had cruisers and they don't have much need for the classification, whereas it is very convenient for the Americans to call it a cruiser because it makes the PLAN sound much more threatening and thus justifies more spending. In particular it is an effort to revive the cancelled CG(X) project. It is worth noting that the CG(X) project was cancelled because they decided the task could be completed by the DDG(X) instead. So even in the United States, pretty much the last holdout of the antiquated "cruiser" term, the ship type is being phased out. The reality is that there aren't going to be any cruisers (except for maybe a couple of relics) in a decade or two.

It's possible to have spacious living quarters if it was implemented into the design, Zumwalt has similar design/layout as well. I think the ones shown in this videos are SNCO or JO quarters.

apparently the PRSM is going to be a non-hypersonic, non-stealth antiship ballistic missile which basically means its going to be fairly easy to shoot down. Its only saving grace would be that it can be fired in large volleys, but somehow I doubt the US can afford to lob large volleys of them at chinese warships over and over.

@@hughmungus2760 All ballistic missiles reach hypersonic velocities in the terminal phase, it's called gravity. The question is whether or not they are maneuverable in this phase. I have no doubt that Chinese hypersonic missiles in service today are superior to the PrSM 1 in every way, but the game is not one of hypersonic missiles fighting outer hypersonic missiles. American PrSMs could be just as devastating to Chinese ships as DF-17s are to American ships. The Americans would just need to fire more of them, which is fine, since they're cheaper.

@@theredbar-cross8515 depends, some shorter range ballistic missiles don't actually reach mach 5. it can maybe be compared with the DF21d, except it doesn't have 1500km of range which is what makes it really effective. Also the PRSM has a warhead of under 100kg, whereas a chinese df21d has a warhead of well over 500kg The DF17 is in a completely different league as the PRSM, its a hypersonic glider which means it spends the majority of its flight in an aerodynamic profile and can perform evasive manoeuvres that make it extremely difficult to intercept at range.

T 45 is slightly more advanced.

@@chester1234ificationI’ll have to disagree. In general I think the 055 is about a class higher than the 45 in almost all areas except for CIC. In terms of radar capabilities, the variety of lethal weaponry in the vls, the amount of power it generates, and it’s electronic warfare capabilities, in other words in every aspect that makes a modern warship dangerous, the 055 has a significant edge over the 45.

That would be implying the Soviet Navy was actually a threat at some point. The actual threat came from the hundreds of Tu-22M bombers built towards the end of the Cold War. Soviet doctrine would throw 100 of them at a single carrier group.

A single one no, the YJ21s it uses are good but rather inaccurate for modern missiles, adding to that with the us testing there new SM missiles it will even further decrease the chance of a hit meaning a full strike group would be able to out launch a single type55. Best way for such a attack to succeed would be by having multiple plus type 052s to provide additional threats

believe me you don't want to know, these ships are equipped with YJ-21 hypersonic missiles, with 112 VLS cells, this ship is heavily armed and much more than Flight III Arleigh Burke, no doubt that both are advanced in tech but if the two enemies are nearly the same tech level then if you are 1 step ahead of me that doesn't mean you are better than me.
