I also highly recommend the mountains, especially Evrytania where I was born. I have been in the States since my teenage years after immigrating here in 1960. Currently I reside in North Carolina near Winston-Salem. Thank you for the island tours I have not a chance to visit...

Cheers from Greece lover ✌ I would definitely want to see some Greek mountain scenery someday. I've been on the Lefka Ori and Psiloritis mountains on the Island of Crete but of course they're nothing when comparing with mountains of mainland Greece. Skiing trip to Northern Greece would be a not-so-typical holiday 😄 I think that in general, it would be worth visiting areas of Greece that aren't saturated with tourists.

@@asianfacility5682 North Carolina is the home of the Great Smokey Mountains, Mt. Mitchell (the highest peak in the eastern US), the Blue Ridge Parkway - all part of the Appalachian mountain range. The Appalachian Trail runs from Georgia to Maine and many people hike it over several months! As far as rivers, the state's rivers are relatively small. Some are: the Catawba, the Yadkin and the Roanoke. All of them are dammed to supply water for the major population areas. One river, the New River, begins in the NC mountains and goes north to join the Ohio River! I hope this helps.

Was in Greece end of May with my family of 3 young adult kids and spouse. Athens, Nafplio, Santorini and Rhodes, over two weeks. Epic trip. Have to say Greece is our favorite country. Watching these wonderful RU-vid videos is my way to deal with nasty post-Greece travel blues... oh well, there's always looking forward to next time! And thank you Gabriel! Opening my eyes to so many more opportunities for travel in my favorite place in the world.

I visited 10 ish Greek islands and most of the mainland. Kalymos is the one of the tops. Serene, peaciful, kind locals and best dishes. Good memories. You may cut some points from transportation. There are some buses but we couldnt catch and had to take taxis. Love your content as always Gabriel, safe travels. 🙂

Hi Gabriel, Interesting Island, much bigger than the two others you were on. The churches you went to seem to have frescos but due to the fact of the age of the churches and the amount of damage, they replastered the walls covering them to restore the structure of the churches. These structures are constantly going through rebuilding because of their age. It must be very tedious because you are trying to maintain the existing structure and build around it. You must have had feta cheese in those salads, it's incredibly good.

Both of the salads in this video were a local Kalymnos salad which is a little different from a Greek salad. Instead of feta cheese it has straight goat cheese. Feta is made from a mix of sheep and goat milk. Quite similar but different. I prefer the feta cheese but both salads are delicious.

Kalymnos, yes! I knew your next hop it had to be the sponge island 😜! So now from there , you could catch the cheap boat Nysos Kalymnos and head to Agathonisi, Arkoí and maybe Marathi!

Till 9th century there wasn’t Orthodox, Catholic, Protestants.We all were just Christians.Human ambitions, human stupidity created all the separation.I hope one day we will join together again and end this separation.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos Im amazed you have not visited Patmos for that is where the cave of John wrote the amazing epic Revelations in the bible! they have built a complex around it but it is preserved and apparently ive heard there is a face on the cave ceiling of apollo ie antichrist!God bless you brother and loving your work especially on the greek islands 👑🔥🕊

In Orthodox churches, facing the iconostation ( the partition between the altar and the main church) the middle entrance at the center is called the Ωραία Πύλη (beautiful door.) To the right one finds Christ's icon and next to it is St. John the Baptist's icon. To the left of the center door is the icon of Mary holding Jesus as a baby and next to it is the icon of the church's patron saint. The left door depicts archangel Michael and on the right door is the icon of archangel Gabriel. I n larger churches other saints fill the extra spaces. This is true for all Orthodox churches everywhere in the world.

Gabriel, I'm loving every second of your Greek videos! I developed a seriously weak spot for these islands over the past years and to me watching your vlogs in cold January is the next best thing to actually being there. However, it isn't risk-free for me, as I am now eagerly contemplating an island-hopping tour myself next summer (particularly the Dodecanese and/or North Aegean) 😀 So a tiny question if you still remember - and if it isn't too private - can you tell the approximate cost and duration of your whole trip (not including the flight into Greece) and how many islands you did?

I don't keep track of my expenses so not sure about that, but you can travel in Greece for as little as $50 a day or so if you keep it real tight, or more like $80-100 a day is more typical. Depends a lot on your accommodation. A few years ago I traveled there for $30 a day. Not sure exactly how many islands I visited on that trip, I went to Greece three times last year, you'll love it.

the US town of Tarpon Springs, FL, is Kalymnos USA .....they even sell sea sponges in the streets ......in the 1890s, some divers from Kalymnos settled in Tarpon Springs, as the local sea sponge industry was taking its early steps .......then, many more divers from Kalymnos were brought over by local businessmen, to join the sponge diving force ........if you are in the US and you feel that you have missed Greece, you can always go for a quick visit to Tarpon Springs, FL ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-25EUVdVbG2A.html en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarpon_Springs,_Florida

I've stayed in Olympic hotel in Kalimnos as a solo traveler. The worst ever. I do not know about you Gabriel but the guy at reception was very rude...I hope you found better treatment

Crete has EVERYTHING. Modern cities and random villages, traditional towns and all the kinds of beaches, gorges and mountains. It's like a smaller Greece.

It totally depends on which islands you go to. I'm sure that Santorini and Mykonos are mobbed right now. And it will get a lot busier in July and especially August. By September it slows down a lot.

It's very busy this year generally. But there are differences between different places in Greece. Rhodes is packed with tourists, but I think the smaller islands and the less known places in Greece are not so full.

Hei Gabriel, what about Kos island. I mean it has great archeological sites green mountains and beautiful beaches and villages. And an an interesting town (Kos town). I know it's a bigger island and maybe to cosmopolitan (I don't know what's exactly your liking) but it diserves some attention. I hope you won't just passed it by. Have a nice time and enjoy our summer as much as you can. Hope to see you exploring the mainland a little bit more, different things there, although I know you already have in some degree travel there as well.
