Strolling through the streets with you is an engaging experience, but could you also pan the camera to capture what they are selling, local fruit, handicrafts, souvenirs, menus? As a tourist, I navigate through the vibrant streets with a keen interest, not merely focusing on the path ahead, but also swiveling my head to capture the exquisite details that surround me.

Around 9:00 I was struck by the view with the cool skyline in the mist. Then broke out laughing as you came into the main square and cars and motorcycles and pedestrians were in complete chaos, horns beeping everywhere, colors bursting out of the grey, but you just kept moving and talking like it’s nothing. Got a good giggle from that. Cool shot of the birds flying overhead. Loving the mystery.

India is one of the oldest Civilization in the world and Kashmir was always part of it. Pakistan was created by splitting India into pieces by creating tension between communites by playing divide and rule. before the British left they made their faithful Nehru in charge of india. while going away British gave India's 562 princely states option to be with either India or Pakistan or be independent country. when king of Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh wanted to join India he was thrice denied by Nehru. then Pakistan attacked Kashmir and king looked at India again. this time the paper was signed by British Mountbatten, then Governor General of India meaning now India can defend its land from Pakistan resulting in India Pakistan war of 1947. British had their influences in the war because at that time India Pakistan were not fully independent as they had Dominion status with British royalty being head of their states and Nehru being their faithful. by the time Indian Army entered Kashmir Pakistan already taken lot of it. but Indian Army started reclaiming Kashmir. Indian Army was about to take all of Kashmir. then Nehru stopped the war from Indian side on January 1st 1949 went to United Nation for solution. UN then came up with resolution which was dismissed by both the countries. based on there land taken by India and Pakistan UN drew the border between them. in 1959 China entered Ladakh build Roads Infra and took control of the highest mountains there all under Nehru's watch. then in 1962 China invaded Ladakh officially and took a major portion of it. basically Nehru gifted it to China like gilgit baltistan and Azad Kashmir were given to Pakistan.

There are minimum 30 hydro electric power projects in Jammu and Kashmir (kashmir) but all are under centre or India Kashmir face Curtailment approximately 14 Hours out of 24 Hours per day and night. Moreover Fees or Bill hike every year Unemployment Inflation Crime Rate Frustration Depression Food stores.... Water Bills Taxes And much More Increasing day by day

In all my travels, I have learned that it's the people that make the deatination. Unhappy people with their negative energy will drain the place no matter how great it maybe. Example of this is the Pyramids of Giza in Cairo, Egypt. Try and see if you can enjoy the place with the rude, aggressive touts chasing you. My experience in Srinagar was not great, I found most people to be cold, aggressive and unhappy. I found the touts to be very cheeky and aggressive. It was a miserable experience, so much so that I cut my trip short. Leh on the other hand was far more relaxed.

Interestingly countries have banned call to prayer on loud speakers. Noise pollution, inconvenience and the fact that others who do not particpate shouldnt have to be disturbed. Those who are interested in attending can do so as they please. Not very inclusive when the call to prayer includes that there is only one god and he has only one messenger...

Historically speaking Jammu and Kashmir has always been a part of land called "BHARAT" that is India. The name Kashnir itself comes from a saint named Kashyap. In 16th and 17th century there was a wave of islamisation in Kashmir both through Sufi saints and swords. During the partition the king of Kashmir was a Hindu while the population was largely muslim while still having a large Hindu population. During partition the king decided to stay neutral and didnt join any sides. In 1947 Pakistan army attacked Indian borders forcing Kashmir to join them since it was majority muslim dominated, but Maharaja of Kashmir hesitated and asked Indian side for help, Indian side agreed to help on an agreement that Kashmir will join Indian side. That time Kashmir was formally a part of India. India didnt mind if the majority was Hindu or muslim because it didnt matter to us since we werent formed on religious basis but pakistan was, so we werent entitled to listen to pakistans plea.

king of Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh joined India in 1947 without any condition. but suddenly in 1949 India supreme leader Nehru created article 370 which gave Jammu and Kashmir its autonomy. it meant Jammu and Kashmir had its own flag, own national anthem, own constitution completely different from India. basically Nehru made Kashmiris feel separated from India. so it was easy for Pakistani terrorists to enter Jammu and Kashmir catch the poor youth and brainwash them into terrorism. in 2019 Indian government abolished article 370 and integrated into India. not long after that Covid19 lockdown happened. but in 2022 and 2023 on Independence Day India's flag in every house and Indian national anthem while played at every corner in Jammu and Kashmir. now Kashmir is going at Rapid rate. some big developments are coming up.

Its funny that even from watching this after all the other India content, you can immediatly sense something is up. Just how drab everything looks, not the people's fault but the place obviously lacks investment. Plus how the people themselves behave, much more introvert, much more aware, or should I say suspicious of their surroundings. When you have lived in cities all your life you develop this sort of 6th sense and that telling me here this is the first place from these series I probably want to avoid walking alone at night in. Not blaming anyone, the political situation makes things very complicated, and as always, the regular people in the area end up holding the bag, so to speak. So I hope any conflict that still is there will resolve itself and that some outside investment will come in and give the place a bit of a boost.

I noticed a lot of the signs are in English.

They call Kashmir the land of sufis because there are so many Sufi muslim shrines there. One of them called the Hazratbal shrine which is in Srinagar contains the Islamic prophet Muhammad’s hair. It’s usually displayed to the worshippers on certain religious days. It’s not like the hair is kept in a museum or something like that.

Dude, you should go through the real story before commenting on such topics. The Indian subcontinent was 100 % Hindu population before the Islamic invasion started in the inland of the Indian subcontinent in the 7th century when the Arabs conquered Sindh and later arrived in Punjab and North India in the 12th century via the Ghaznavids and Ghurids conquest and has since become a part of India's religious and cultural heritage. During the 8th century, the Kingdom of Kashmir was subjected to several attacks aimed at its conquest. Several attempts to conquer Kashmir were made by the Arabs who had established themselves in Sindh (711-13 C.E), under the leadership of Muhammad bin Qasim. But Muhammad bin Qasim was recalled by the Umayyad Caliph to Damascus, thus averting the possible invasion. In the reign of Caliph Hisham (724-43 C.E), the Arabs again marched towards Kashmir under the leadership of the ambitious and energetic leadership of Governor Junaid. Lalitaditya Muktapida (724-60 CE), the Raja (ruler) of Kashmir, defeated Junaid and overran his kingdom. However, this victory was not decisive as further attempts to invade were made by the Arabs, but Lalitaditya was able to stem the tide of these advances. A last attempt at the invasion of the Kashmir Kingdom was made by Hisham ibn 'Amr al-Taghlibi, the Governor of Sindh, appointed by Caliph Mansur (754-75 C.E). Though he reached as far as the southern slopes of the Himalayas, which were a part of the Kashmir Kingdom, he failed to enter and occupy the valley. After the Arabs, it was the Ghaznavids who attempted to conquer Kashmir. Mahmud of Ghazni, defeated Raja Jaipal (1002 C.E), the ruler of Waihand (near Peshawar, in modern-day Pakistan). Anandpal, the son and successor of Jaipal, also suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Mahmud in 1009 C.E. and died a few years later. Anandpal's son Trilochanpala, whose power of influence was now confined only to the Salt Range, appealed to Samgrāmarāja (1003-28 C.E), the king of Kashmir, for help against Mahmud. A large army contingent was sent by Samgramaraja, who joined Trilochanpala's forces, however their combined forces were defeated by Mahmud in 1014 C.E. Mahmud advanced towards Kashmir and tried entering the kingdom via the Toshamaidan Pass. His progress was checked by the strong Loharkot Fort, which he besieged for a month. Owing to the heavy snowfall, which cut off Mahmud's communications, he was compelled to retreat. However, the Sultan again set out to invade Kashmir in September-October 1021 C.E., but was again compelled to retreat due to bad weather conditions. So, the British artificially created Pakistan to break India further after 200+ years of colonization because they knew that someday these people would rise up and give tough time to the British for the atrocities they did in 200+ of their rule. So, they created a religious fanatic country on the basis of religion called Pakistan. Since 1947, it has attacked India numerous times which ended in 4 major wars and numerous terrorist attacks. First Indo-Pakistani War of 1947 Indo-Pakistani War of 1947-1948 The war, also called the First Kashmir War, started in October 1947 when Pakistan feared that the Maharaja of the princely state of Kashmir and Jammu would accede to India. Following partition, princely states were left to choose whether to join India or Pakistan or to remain independent. Jammu and Kashmir, the largest of the princely states, had a majority Muslim population and a significant fraction of the Hindu population, all ruled by the Hindu Maharaja Hari Singh. Tribal Islamic forces and the army of Pakistan attacked and occupied parts of the princely state forcing the Maharaja to sign the Instrument of Accession of the princely state to the Dominion of India to receive Indian military aid. The UN Security Council passed Resolution 47 on 22 April 1948. The fronts solidified gradually along what came to be known as the Line of Control. A formal cease-fire was declared at 23:59 on the night of 1 January 1949. India gained control of about two-thirds of the state (Kashmir Valley, Jammu, and Ladakh) whereas Pakistan gained roughly a third of Kashmir (Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan). The Pakistan-controlled areas are collectively referred to as Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. I recommend you to read the book "THE RAIDERS OF KASMIR" by Maj. Gen Akbar Khan of the Pakistan Army. How Pakistan attacked Jammu and Kashmir merely a few months after its creation by the British.

Anglo-saxons love to divide and conquer others, so they like to find differences, and utilize those. Kashmir is a special place in Indian history, both for Hindus and Muslims. Many Kashmiri Hindus had to leave the valley and move to Delhi and other cities, they were persecuted. Kashmir Shaivism is from Kasmir, many non-islamic ancient texts were written by Kashmiri scholars( e.g. Rajtarangini by Kalhana)...Kashmir didn't move from Arab or Iran, it's an Indian land. Yes due to the geographic position there has been more mixing and cultural influence from Central Asia and elsewhere.

When you talked about the history of the region, you said that ruler of Kashmir (it was a monarchy, therefore a King), acceded to India as he was under threat of invasion from both India and Pakistan. This is factually incorrect. The reality is that Kashmir was not just under threat but was actually invaded by Pakistani soldiers and tribesmen who had almost reached the city limits of Srinagar. It was at that eleventh hour that the king acceded to India and India sent soldiers to push back the invaders.

I have been through this area many times. The main shrine you went into first is of someone commonly known as Dastgeer sahib. He was a iraqi mystic who founded hanfia school of thought within Islam in Iraq about 1000 years ago. Few hundred years ago, a afghani muslim/sufi traveller brought his hair and gifted to then afghan king of Kashmir. Hence a shrine was built at this place in remembrance of Dastgeer sahib. The tomb of jesus is known to be few feet below the one you saw on top , with his burial direction being in opposite direction of muslims i.e. exactly like jews. Also few nail marks were found in a relic kept along side it which showed that nails were passed through them as when a body is kept like that on a cross like jesus is claimed to have been killed. Its believed that jesus came to kashmir as young man and learn meditation from buddhists which were in majority then in kashmir. Hence at the wnd of his life, jesus again came back to kashmir and died here. Also a tourist place in kashmir is called yusmarg, which means the meadow of jesus in local language.

This is such a small area , a few kilometres atmost and the local people have nothing to do with the tension between the countries yet have suffered immense hardship which the seems unending so hopefully things will look up and violence will stop in that area so that noone suffers and people can get on with their daily lives peacefully because maybe irs noone' s fault but the person who suffers the most on the street feels the pain ......

When Jesus was born, this and all the surrounding region was under total Buddhism influence. Slavic pagan symbol and early Christian symbol (IXOYE or fish) both are same as eight spoke wheel symbol Buddhism. There is definitely some connection even if many religiously blind historians won't accept it.

India is not Kuwait. There is no military on the streets, only the local police (khaki uniform) or the federal reserved police (CRPF, military-like camo). Unless you act like a real threat, they will treat you very well, you can film them. You need a Jammu and Kashmir issued postpaid SIM for your phone to work in the UT. Go to your nearest Airtel or Jio retail shop.

I don't think military would get mad at you filming them. Infact, so many Indian travelers now travel to Kashmir because it gets them views. One of the military personal was saying they want more and more tourists to come and film it. That way it will be harder to spread false propoganda. There are many people who believe Kashmir situation is same as Gaza thanks to western media like BBC and Al Jazeera, which is not true at all.

Maybe the Story of Jesus Burial is, Jesus Disciple Thomas was in India. 2000 years ago St. Thomas Student may have been taught & Buried in Srinagar, Kashmir!
