Laz Alonzo losing all that weight and shaving, whether intentional or not adds so much to this. When he says “look at what it’s doing to me” while looking so different from his season 1 self, that hit so hard
Reminded me of Starlight's line this season, " You should hear what they say about me" after the whole world is bullying her for her appearance. That line made me feel sad for her.
"Because for once, i didn't hate myself" broke me to pieces. While he was a jerk at first, deep down the dude actually wanted to be better and despided what Vought turned him into.
A-Train honestly has great development across the seasons. I love how the show writers dove deeper into his family life and never strayed too far from what was going on with him. In a show where bad things is the norm, bro deserves a happy ending
From A-Train to Homelander i could see everyone having been a way better person if it hasn't been for Vought. Someone should make a reverse Injustice on The Boys and show a universe where they do a decent(-ish) job at being superheros.
I love how they didn’t just turn him into a good guy suddenly with no rhyme or reason. His character development was earned. He had doubts about what he was doing but it took seeing how Vought treated minorities and his family losing respect for him to finally come to terms with how shitty of a person he had been. It’s funny, after he almost died in season 3 I thought there was no way they could give him a good arc, I thought that was his chance to go out like a hero, a very flawed hero who never truly redeemed himself but one who at least did something good in his final moments (yes I know the way he killed Blue Hawk was brutal but Blue Hawk was actively harming black people and spreading hate, he deserved it). But I’m really enjoying his arc this season. Didn’t think he could fully redeem himself but I think he’s there because HE finally realizes how terrible of a person he used to be
He will die fighting Butcher in White House. He will protect Ryan and give time for Boys to pacify both Butcher and Homelander. I also think that virus they will create will work in different way than everyone thinks. It will not kill supes but strip them of superpower. This will lead to ending where Starlight can finally become normal.
@@mr.l8723 i don't think so, this adaptation it's very different to the comic, but the final season of course will be diabolical, there's no doubt about it. A lot of characters will die in the next season.
A-Train started out as our first example of a corrupt hero in the show to becoming a redeemed fan favorite, willing to risk his life for the sake of doing the right thing and becoming the hero he always wanted to be. The writing in the boys is absolute gold.
"You think homelander and Vaught and all of this shit aint coming to Belize?" has got to be the scariest moment of realization for MM. the power he fights against will never stop growing, so he finally recognizes he can never stop fighting... the fight against fascism is eternal, sad to say.
That was definitely the words which made MM heavily doubt his decision to flee. A-train is sure shaping up to be a pivotal character this season with all the things he's done.
I think it's also him coming to terms with his possible death. His father and grandfather died fighting that same cause, and that's why he wanted to leave. So choosing to stay is basically accepting that if he doesn't end it that war, someone in his family will have to.
The 7, utilizing Level 1, cognitive dissonance, logical fallacies, taking hold and implementing rules and laws with control, fear, and exclusions. MM realizing, it's a never ending battle and wanted to give up, but A train let him realize peace is maintained, a continuous maintenance is needed. A train's wisdom to point out what's ignored, like tumor, will become cancer, killing and taking everything in its path without regard for the whole body, and anything living within it won't escape the spread of cancer.
for the love of god, let a train live and repent like this he deserves to be a hero and to repent through being a true hero he's a good dude who made some stupid mistakes high as a kite showrunners please dont do it
0:41-1:18 it’s like Batman said: "One Night Always Makes The Difference". What I mean is, that one night made a difference to a-train and impacted him in a good way
It's highly unlikely but I kinda hope that if A-Train does end up surviving this season along with the final season (S5), he becomes an unofficial superhero of NYC who flies solo to fight crime without any of Vought's involvement and basically becomes the Flash of this universe in a sense. Ik it sounds corny even for a character within the Boys universe, but an ending like that would be a breath of fresh air, and I think it fits best for the character aside from killing him off.
@@blakehoward4436 Kimiko, Ryan, Annie....Vicki(Nadia), even after what she has done. We haven't even scratched the surface with how many potential real superheroes are there in Godolkin University once they realize what's really going on.
It maybe letting him off too easy cuz he did do a buncha horrible stuff. But yeah having A-train die would def suck, I want him to at least stay alive by the end of the series
Given Maeve survived and was allowed to start over, I wont be surprised if A Train gets the same chance. Though it's clear the show is setting up for him to sacrifice his life to help the Boys/stop Homelander and Vought.
I want to see someone from the seven other than starlight be an actual superhero for once that its possible to become a redeemable hero no matter how far you have fallen. A Train has that he can be this earth Flash, hopefully they don't kill him
The line about him not wanting to give up because for once he didn’t hate himself man that hit hard, I love how they wrote A-train as this metal barrier for Hughie and a trigger for him and then how he was this snitch who sucked up to Homelander but turned him into a hero
I didn’t expect A Train’s words to make me emotional, when he said: that was the only time, when he didn’t hate himself, I felt that. It was very important for him, to feel like an actual hero, just for once, just 1 single time, to die peacefully after that
MM explained why he backed off. He passed out during a mission and got warned by a doctor it’ll happen to him too. He saw himself as a liability and was going to leave with his family while he could. But he put Atrain’s life on the line he couldn’t just back out now
Its cool how you can tell A train looked up to and respected the Boys for bravely doing the righteous thing rebelling against vought. Like he doesnt realize how human and powerless they are because of how much they inspired him. And here he is inspiring them to get back up at it again.
Seeing A-Train tear up got to me, he may have superpowers but he's only human and wants to do good in life rather than bad.😢 I hope he gets the good ending fr fr 🙏🏽
MM is the same as A-train. They will never be able to sleep and live in peace if they just keep looking for them. Here you can have a real ending worthy of a true hero. And that feels satisfyingly like a he wants it a-train. ❤
I like how Deep had a redemption arc and threw it all away this season and then you have A train who is legitimately trying to better himself and to have the person who hated him the most forgive him says a lot about him
@@okthegod5590 So did A train but his redemption didn’t really start until he started doing good things for selfless reasons. Even when A train gave Hughie and Annie the Stormfront info, he helped them, but he only did that so he could get back into the seven. A train and Deep are polar opposites
This is the moment where ATrain truly redeemed himself. He was kind of coerced into leaking the footage to exonerate the two Starlighters, into saving Hughies dad with compound V and even saving MMs life by Kimiko. This moment however he acted on his own and talked MM into staying with the Boys, he didn’t have to do that and didn’t even have anything to gain by doing it, but he did anyway.
The boys is the only show where I like the show better than the source material. A train was a two dimensional perverted asshole the comics while in the show he has depth to him
I hope Atrain won’t get killed off next episode or next season I like that he’s actually a superhero and maybe can be one of the only heroes that survives end of the series to actually do good things
He didn't have much a choice at that point since The Seven would come and kill him so he had to get his family out to safety especially since Homelander isn't above going after them to get to A Train
He’ll probably be back to help the boys save the president, plus what would he really be able to do at until then, the only logical thing would be to go into hiding with his family until he’s needed.
I would be shocked if he didn't come back. It's not like Maeve who lost her powers, and he has super speed so he could easily show up anywhere any time he's needed
I love A-Train’s development Bro was happier to truly save a life behind closed doors, than put on a show for cameras And then he convinces MM to rejoin the fight, by reminding him that the only way he can ever be happy, that he can ever look out for his family and be there for them, is to keep fighting GOD I LOVE A-TRAIN!!!
"And look at what it's doing to me.." Laz is probably the best face actor in the show, maybe tying with Homelander for me. You can really see the whirlwind of emotions that he's not able to process right now, only having time to focus on his main goal.
Scenes like this frustrate me because, when the show is good, its really good. It's just that this season has seen the show lean into the shock value more and more and the story seems to be getting too repetitive and cyclical, yet scenes like this show it still has the potetnial to be better.
A-Train's redemption arc is fantastic, but can we talk about how MM is a fantastic character? You can tell how tired and broken he is from all the shit he's going through basically every day. He's thinner, no more beard and no more charming swagger. He's scared to hell, he's away from his family and yet he keeps going because he knows that's the only thing he can do to keep the ones he loves alive. And, during all that, he managed to get through to A-Train.
I like how they are completely against the white savior trope. Its not just the 'white' part they went against, but also the savior part. It isn't one sided. They picked each other up on their times of low.
I love how it is MM who convinces him, gets a heart to heart with him. It just shows that extra connection struggling black people could understand. This scene made me legit cry.
Crazy how this show made A-train from someone I wanted to see get beaten to death into a character that you can genuinely root for and slowly forgive him on his redemption arc
This was personally my favourite scene from season 4, powerful writing and performances from them both. 2 complicated men surrounded by corruption and depravity and trying to push through the BS.
I don’t know if Hughie and him will ever be on THOSE best of terms. Remember, A-Train MURDERED his last girlfriend. Will they find the capacity to be on semi-decent terms with each other? Possibly? Will they ever reach a term where they are considered friends? Absolutely not.
@@marvelousmadmen832yeah I agree with you that they’ll never be friends. But what I do believe is that they’ll have mutual respect for each other at the end of the show (if A-train survives).
That delivery on the line “for once I didn’t hate myself” brilliant execution a train we all hated him in the beginning of the show and for a while, but man what 1 season did with this character fantastic
"There was no screaming, no cameras, no flashing lights" That line hits fucking hard man, for once he felt like he actually did something good without being told by a greedy corporate company.
I definitely like this version of A-Train way better than in the comics. because the one in the comics had no redeeming qualities or any chance of redemption whatsoever. This A-Train was way better written.
People really tried to argue with me that you can't watch the whole series by watching dozens of clips. If you combine the clips in order to coneecting scenes in a playlist and watch them together, you get an episode. Social media sort of ruining the sense of surprise because a second after the a new episode appears dozens upon dozens of clips arrives. Never watched the show on streaming yet I have a pretty good grasp on the show.
