That's fun thing to joke about but I don't think it's really accurate. I mean, not when it comes to The Seven. He might laser a nobody that had a different opinion then him but I don't think he'd laser Deep or A Train if they just had a different opinion. He'd ignore their idea and tell them to be quiet but I don't think he'd laser them.
That's his character flaw. Born a god with no purpose or equal to understand what to do with it. Now he's slowly learning his only weakness is time and he will soon die
Homelander likes, or at least respects those who aren't afraid to speak on their minds while they know their own limitations when facing him. He despises those who say no to him with little reason and would simply curse him off. And now, he hates having his ass kissed every now and then by everyone who are afraid of him, cos if they made the wrong move, Homelander would kill them, or humiliate them later on.
@@kellowilliams5998I’ve been feeling like HL is gonna kill stan from the trailer when he he goes to cremate that person or when he’s smiling while covered in blood
@@Jadensdivine Imo HL and Edgars relationship was one of the only good parts of the comics. I think they might go the same route where Edgar "Wins" Over HL by never giving him approval.
@@napoleonbonaparte3572I wonder if Edgar is gonna becomes president and he makes homelander a criminal or calls him out and that's what starts HL's rampage
@@DragonTamer31K Storywise it makes a lot of sense that Edgar returns. Possibly he was a supe from the start - smarter than Sage, tougher than Homelander.
He's indeed a child who doesn't know what he wants. He can't stand others challenging or questioning him, and now he wants others to challenge and question him
I think he knows what he wants, but he's frustrated that he hasn't achieved it. Surrounding himself with sycophants is clearly not working out for him.
Stormfront did challenge him and I think that it was the main reason he liked her, aside from his mommy issues. He also liked Black Noir because he was not a kiss ass so I feel like more than challenging him in a negative way he wanted them to be his team as in “positive contribution” and not “yes, sir” people. The problem with him is that this positive contribution one day may get you on his good side another get you killed. Black Noir survived him the longest, because he saw him as his friend probably the first friend he got since was let out from the labs and probably because Black Noir didn’t speak.
@@TDdelta777he wants someone that he respects to challenge him. That’s why he recruited Sage, that’s why he never killed Stan Edgar. On some level he respects them. If A-Train, Deep or Ashley stood up to him he’d just kill them bc he views them as beneath him.
Homelander needs a friend. He's a middle school bully with a god complex. The closest thing he had to a friend was Black Noir. Has anyone ever tried to be his friend? Out of fear that maybe when he finally snaps and kills everyone at least they will be spared.
That can only be viable back when he was young and stuck in a lab, and look where that utter lack of both family and friends but abundance of mental and physical torture got him, absolutely soulless
Nothing good will come out of it anyways. It’s too late for him. There’s almost no good in his heart anymore. Also this dude has mental problems which makes him unstable and dangerous. Soldier Boy was right when he said there’s no fixing it now. I think Ryan is gonna be the one who kills him in the end
Every relationship Homelander will ever have or ever had will always turn to shit. The only reason he liked Noir was because he didn't talk. Homelander will eventually resent a friend or anyone close to him and he will always be self destructive when it comes to loved ones or people close to him. He is a very tragic figure to be honest. Raised as a lab rat with no love and affection has ruined him. I bet he has alot of blocked memories that will come flooding back soon and Bought basically created a ticking time bomb that hates himself and everyone around him. We saw his relationship with Stormfront turn dangerous real fast and now we are seeing his relationship with Ryan deteriorate quickly. The sad thing is there are millions of people who have similar problems as Homelander, not raised properly and with affection. Harlows pit of despair proved that we are similar to monkeys and it can cripple our development if we dont get love and affection as a baby or kid. People grow up to have anxiety or rage issues or insecurities that ruin them. Homelander is such a great fascinating character but he is so miserable and when he does he will be put out of his misery. I hope they make it epic when he finally snaps and is taken down eventually.
It's funny. Homelander's story feels like a direct parallel now to Gilgamesh. The mostly-immortal godking who could get away with basically anything, but was completely unsatisfied with it and had a giant existential dream moment after his only rival (Enkidu, who... Yeah, Butcher) dies. So amusingly, Homelander might just eventually have a moment of clarity realizing that blowing up isn't going to get him anything... Or he fails completely and dies a moron. Either or.
I mean, even if you don’t believe human sexuality is a spectrum, is “gay” really still shocking for a guy who’s casually intimate with an octopus? Sure, bestiality exists, but that’s not even a mammal… 🐙
4:28 that slight hand gesture, knowing homelanders hears every word, himself stepping closer to death cause of talking under his breath once...he protected deep there from speaking anything that might get him killed
He stopped him because he was probably worried that Homelander would hear Deep saying he wasn’t gonna do it and then come back and actually make him do it 🤣🤣
@Mopark25 a character like Homelander who has come to RELY on his powers, even thinking himself a god. Wouldn't it be an amazing comeuppance for him to lose the one thing that makes him special? It's a punishment worse than death for a man as egotistical and crazy as Homelander
Homelander isnt annoyed by their asskissing and worship ,he is annoyed by the fact that these people are lying to his face ,he knows that deep down, they dont agree with him or care about him the slightest but they still have to lie bc they are afraid him and theres nothing he can do to change that ,homelander craves love and worship but those things only matter if they are true like Stormfront’s
@@sebastianfontanez1081 shi idk but after a puff or 2 it doesn't really matter throw on the mask until you figure a way out and if not there's a world full of meaningless distractions until we're dead so it won't matter anyway
That was also the comics, too. But the twist was that in the comics, Homelander wasn't actually losing it, and he was actually being set up to lose it on purpose just so he could be killed.
He loved Black Noir because he didn’t say yes to everything he said or challenge him (for obvious reasons). His support was genuine and that’s all Homelander really wants
@@mr.tomatohead3709 Although he is in a sort of Megamind-esque situation as he has admitted, he has everything he wants (head of Vought, Ryan technically, etc), but no one to push back against him, at least until Sister Sage.
@@marthflores3515 Yeah he would basically jackhammer Soldier Boy in the bum every year and tell him he might consider him for The Seven but would never add him. Soldier Boy wasn't gay but was too weak and worthless to say no.
Really what an unbelievable coincidence. 🤣😂🙂 But seriously, this is bitter, crude propaganda. In the old seasons, the series was witty. Now he just denigrates everyone who is not the most politically leftist, scolds Elon Musk, who is right now creating humanity's way into space and compares Downey, acquitted by an American court, to an idiot and liаr.
@@fedormaximoff6587 One of the biggest villains in the show rn is Victoria Neuman-- openly left-leaning, but secretly in the pocket of corporations like Vought even before it was revealed that she's a mass murderer. I think the show has remained critical of people in power and those that worship them on both sides.
I don't think he hates his team just because they're yes men. It's like he hates them because they're not individuals, and just npcs he has to constantly give directions to. They also don't really contribute to his image. And THEN on top of that, they constantly suck up and agree with him. He wants people under him that aren't just lemmings, basically. Queen Maeve was actually the ideal team member he'd want to keep around. Agreeing with him most of the time, calling him out on his bullshit every now and then, but also being their own person.
Thats bs because his first board meeting, one of the members that tried to involve him in the actual financial goings-on of the company he got insecure and thought she was belittling his intelligence and fired her. The only people he respects are those on his power level, and completely fearless of him, and that includes Stan Edgar and Butcher, who have been able to fuck him over and challenge him. 90% of humans don’t do that, so he kills them if they annoy him and don’t serve a purpose, like the assistant that confessed to having starlight contact her, he doesn’t want lemmings under him yet if anyone under him makes him feel insecure he wants to kill them without hesitation. He doesn’t know what professionalism is, how to separate his feelings from the job so i dont think Homeland will ever be happy with the team or being the CEO
@@shadowsansvii8715 It's almost like every human being, some of them heavily dislike parts of their personalities, point that problem out to them and they'll either get smartassy or say that you are the same way (just a bs they need to justify their argument LOL)
I kind of like that the reason A-Train denies wanting Sister Sage on the Seven is not really for a personal reason but more practical in the fact she is hard to work with due to her personality.
At 4:23, you can very distinctly hear the laser eyes, like bro was about to kill her for saying that, kinda like how he was almost about to kill Deep at 3:02, where the laser eyes can also be heard. Neat little details.
Stan Edgar and Billy Butcher do not respect Homelander and are honest about it. That's why he does not kill them. Those two are only people he can be honest and open with, even though Billy is clear that he would kill the Homelander the moment he had a chance. No one in that room respects Homelander either, but all of them are too afraid to admit that. I feel kinda bad for Homelander for that. He is a monster, but there were a lot of Frankensteins along the way.
@@Valigarmanda he is a victim of not having any boundaries set for him and/or no one to enforce these boundaries. There was no one there to stop him from killing all of those people he killed as a child. Just as Soldier Boy said - he might make him better, stronger (in character). Homelander was lucky, he hasn't meet his match earlier. Now he does and that breaks him.
Antony is so good at playing Homelander, especially with all the nuances he adds to the character, like the angry facial ticks and body language. Give this man all the acting awards, he's earned them!
Antony Starr was born for this role. He is so good at looking like an unhinged lunatic barely keeping it together. And the total “done with this” expression. Phenomenal acting.
I want y'all to understand that the closest thing Homelander has to a relationship is what he and Butcher has going on. And Butcher won't be around long enough to see it through
3:54 The fact that she's smiling about this says a lot about her character and why she's the ONLY person that homelander deserves. Just vapid, senseless and is ALSO completely obsessed with power and control.
Hes a paradox in himself. He wants a challenge but everything is easy to him. He wants love yet all he can produce from people is fear and hate. He wants a family yet he is biologically engineered from a lab. He wanted a normal life but he was anything but living like a lab rat expeiremented on, he became a monster. I feel terrible for Homelander and I wish somebody said this shit to him so hed have his own head explode from the realization hes anything but perfect hes just a terror.
