A Tribute to FIFA 

FIFA has annoyed us at times but we can never deny the memories it gave us, playing FIFA with cousins to see who was the best will always be one of the most enjoyable times of my life

FIFA as a franchise has undeniably changed a generation with its content and pop culture that the creators made from it. We hope this next generation of football games tread the same path.

My first memory of FIFA was playing FIFA 15 on my dad's iPad. My parents wouldn't let me get an XBOX no matter how hard I tried to ask. I'm from Canada and my best friend lived down the street and we loved to play even though we were shit. Now he lives in the UK and I barely see him anymore but when I finally got a PS4 when FIFA 17 came out he stayed at my house and we played all night. We packed an 82 rated in-form and went absolutely insane. My parents ended up waking up and he had to go home lol. Miss you bro ❤

Definitely a journey for us all, to think how many of us have been grinding away on the game and see how the next journey onto EA FC.

I'm a PES fan, but I can't deny the fact that FIFA games have always had character to it. The game cover art, the menus, the soundtracks are all so unique

Ending this journey just feels like ending your childhood.....feels hard as FIFA stores a lot of memory in our hearts.

FIFA is one of the games that you can't stop playing, yes you might say "I hate this game" or destroy everything in your setup and rage over the game, but we will always remember FIFA no matter what.

FIFA 17 was great, I’m not surprised at all. There were actually exciting additions to Ultimate Team like SBC’s and Fut Champs, plus the gameplay was great

I will always have fond memories of playing FIFA with my dad on one of the early 2000s FIFAs where long shots were ridiculously easy to score. He would get sooo mad whenever I scored from near the middle of the pitch with Crespo claiming I wasn't playing "real football" and something about "short passes".

I lost all faith in fifa this year when I accidentally logged on to fifa 22 and invited my friend to an online friendly and he asked why did you invite me to fifa 22 I genuinely couldn’t tell a difference between fifa 22 and 23 and I spent 50 quid 💷 on this game miss fifa 15 and 17 days 😢

My best memories are from FIFA14 and especially FIFA15. Those games were fun to play because the focus was on gameplay without this grinding nonsense that we have today. I remember playing with silver squads all day after school. And like you said, the RU-vid's FIFA content peaked during those years. Incredible years to be a FIFA fan.

13 will always be my favourite. I mostly play Fifa for career mode and to play online friendlies with my mates, and no other game came remotely close to how many stories, jokes and epic moments came from 13. My mates still bring up my tactic "the Mertesacker defence" which I birthed on 13 haha. My career mode save on 13 with MK Dons is still the best one I've ever had, and after 13 they brought in all the scouting and training and busywork I just didn't want to do, so it became a lot less fun from then.

Awesome series. Got ruined in last few years but it was great and fun no matter what.

FIFA is my childhood game, i'm not even 18 yet, so let's say, FIFA is the game of my life. I've played FIFA every year since FIFA 14, and I will never ever forget the beautiful memories I created with my friends, with my family and alone. All the great editions over the years, the trophies I've won on career mode over the years, leading underdogs to Champions League glory, Manchester United career modes, and Ultimate Team. The most fun ever was Ultimate Team, all the goated SBCs, club legends, the insane player picks, the unbelievable packs i've opened, and late night grinds. Pro Clubs, going up the ranks with the boys the best times of my life. It's annoyed me at times but it doesn't matter anymore as the memories will be there forever. FIFA 23 is my last FIFA, as I have to study this year. So thank you EA and FIFA for the greatest years of my life.🐐 Edit: I just bought Fifa 24 I went back on my decision

By playing fifa, I've experienced some of the best games I've ever played, some of the best songs I've ever heard and some of the best yt videos I've ever watched. This series will always have a special place in my heart.

I not as old as some people in this comment section, but I can say I remember playing fifa 14,16, and 17 and playing the Journey with friends and playing with our favorite players. It’s sad to see that this game lacks a lot of features it used to have and that this game has so much unfulfilled potential, but it will always be the best sports game, or at least the most memorable

I started off at FIFA 99 (good gravy, that’s a long time ago). It’s been quite a ride. But yeah, it’s completely changed since even 2008 when I got into it again on Nintendo GameCube (again, that was a long time ago 😅😅).

Fifa is what got me into Football, no joke. I learnt so much geography (flags), teams, history, and general knowledge about football and players that made me able to understand the sport. I still often recognize random players irl because I used them on Career Mode, so that’s fun. I played from 16-19 and Career Mode was my favorite part of it everytime.

My Top 3 fifa's are Fifa 11, Fifa 15 and Fifa 14. Just sooo much nostalgia and I generally loved playing the games, even if they did raise my blood pressure a little too much

FIFA Road to World Cup 98 on the n64 was the first one I ever played when I was 7. First time I also ever rage quitted in a game when my Dad was beating me 9-0 when he was playing as Antigua 😂 Good times. FUT sort of killed FIFA for me tbh. I think the last FIFA game I bought was 2014. Crazy how it's nearly been 10 years already.

Omg this is quite heartbreaking to watch 😭 After all of those years and games, it was such an unbelievable journey with Fifa. Looking back all those Fifa 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 that was posted was incredible. Now whats left are the memories that were made, crazy soundtracks after school and just enjoy without thinking about challenges or what cards to pack. Just fun 🥲 RIP Fifa

I've had a weird history with FIFA. My first was FIFA 06 for PS2 when I was 10 and due to economic situations the next one I owned was FIFA 18 for Xbox 360. Imagine the Gap. After that I owned FIFA 20, 22 and 23 for PS4. I will always be a fan of carreer mode and to this day I put so many hours in it. It's always Nice to see how others experienced the franchise through the years and the memories created along the way.

FIFA 10 was iconic for me, I was horrible at games back then cuz I was like 8. I used to drive the sliders all the way up and PASS the goal into the net because shots didn't always go in. PASSING to the goalkeeper was more effective. Didn't even have internet so I just played single player.

Looking forward to this. My experiences with FIFA were rather limited but still memorable. First one I played was 2000 in the PS1 in which me and ny dad demolished through the game modes in co-op. Though he prefers PES so those were the ones I'd play more ever since. But I did play 2 other FIFAs, 09 and 15 on PS3, and those were very fun. Even did plenty of team customizations to make up for Summer transfers. Haven't done much online, baffling to some but I just don't do much of it, but local vs matches more than made up for it. The one thing that was always a treat, being FIFA or PES, are the soundtracks though. FIFA 15 in particular is a favorite (shootouts to Crystal Ball by DFA1979) as well as PES 12 (This Orient Starkey Remix being a highlight). In fact, during this year I've been listening to a collosal Spotify playlist containing all songs used in FIFA 98-23 and individual playlists of each PES soundtrack. Currently at the FIFA 16 tracks on the former and I've started that playlist months ago, it's that huge. Anyway, It's sad to see FIFA as we know it leave us behind (as well as PES since it had his merits, online only stuff like efootball is just not my thing). And even if it's technically just a rebrand, the later entries appear to be very contentious to longtime players so in escence the FIFA many loved playing was already leaving us over the years. But hey, the classic games and the memories will surely live on. And I guess someone out there are modding the older FIFAs with updated teams to keep those entries alive.

I began to play fifa in 2004 when i was 10, every year i bought the new fifa and i was hooked on the career mode, really changed my view on the game irl in a positive way. Later I stopped playing it like I used to but when we were chilling with friends fifa would always be on the screen and we had some unforgettable moments. I think in 10 years we still occasionally play the game and still enjoy it😂.

It’s insane the ups and downs I’ve had with fifa. I first started playing in 15 and I loved it, I was terrible but I loved it. The game had a genuine football iq skill gap. Fifa 16 I remember grinding to get the three futties cards at the end of the game from the tournament mode at like 3am which was incredible. Fast forward a few years and in Fifa 22 I was 47th in the world in rivals in February, and I can safely say I hated it. The skill gap at the top level since fifa 20 has been non existent, yes you can improve to get to elite standard but after that it is 90% luck and reliance on the same repetitive broken skill moves with a drop back 5atb meta

Do we miss old fifa or do we miss our childhoods. They’re so intertwined

Remember starting ut in 09 with my dad and it completely blew my mind and we didn’t know what to do and kept restarting after players lost contracts😂09-13 were the golden years for me I hope we can get back to them times less promos more focus on gameplay and bring back tournaments, make people want to actually play the game again

i wasnt a big football fan as an American kid, but fifa 07 was my first fifa i rented at blockbuster accidentally thinking it was Final Fantasy (FI-nal FA-ntasy 7) after mistakenly reading the name wrong, it was pretty interesting but i was awful at it fastforward 12 years I tried fifa 19 after watching football religiously for the year and supporting a spurs team that was magical to watch only to endure pain the next coming years at least now it feels like i am watching that same spurs team again, 6 years later COYS TTID

Where to start, to put it simply the best time of my life playing these games, it had everything, the hidden gems, the unreal soundtracks, the terrible glitchy gameplay, it was perfect. That era of 2006 to 2019 was the best ever and fifa 20 changed it all and I couldn’t quite believe what I was playing at times, none the less it was actually mental how much of an impact it all had on everyone’s life man

seeing fifa just disappear is heartbreaking cause i had a lot of memories with fifa 14, 16, and 17 and i really liked fifa street even though my brother would always destroy me fifa is always a great part of my childhood good thing is that eafc 24 is the same thing and everyone is still going to call it fifa

18:50 it really goes to show how personally ranking fifas is, Fifa 16 is definetly my favourite, i loved the menus, the music, the gameplay, honestly, to me it was amazing. Age really plays a part in these things, there are a lot of 2007/08 kids that probably have Fifa 20, or 21 as their favourite, even tho i don't think younger kids have as much fun as we used to, Great Vídeo as always!

i cant understimate how much joy FIFA and PES brought to me back between 2011 and 2014 if only i knew how great my childhood afternoons and evenings would be the day i for no reason bough PES 2011, I didnt cared much about football i loved it as a kid but somewhere along the way i started to like baseball and basketball more, then BANG PES 2011 master league turned me into a harcore fan i was watching the Premier League every weekend before leaving for some classes i had on the saturdays,i was hosting tournaments at my house with the boys, on the PSP and NDS we had FULL 20 TEAMS SEASONS during lunch and recess so many great memories, after 16 both fifa and pes fell to the side for me...i dont know it also coincides with the time i stopped watching football with the same passion, maybe something died inside of me after watching Atletico fumble the champions twice, and Costa Rica shit the bed in russia...i still watch the local league and i keep up with Atletico and Manchester United...but its just not the same...but the memories...they feel so right

Fifa 13 is my fav fifa of all time. I remember buying the game from my cousin for $10. It was the only fifa I would play on my ps3, and I played it all right.

I get why some no longer enjoy the game, but I still enjoy it a lot. I would consider myself a more casual player. I just play rivals (not every week) and when I feel like it I mess about in squad battles or some other game mode. I actually like that I am able to play with my favorite players without putting in too many hours. I think it’s just what fifa is currently vs what you grew up with, and I started playing FUT in 2017 so I’ve never really know anything but this.

I kinda miss the style of the game back in the days of the PS2. Now sure, different crowds and all but I think ever after FUT became a thing, the game just went downhill. I remember playing some of the PS1 games. FIFA 98 was great for its time - simple, goofy but also held a legendary mode called Road to World Cup. Still feels kinda wild that it was a thing back then. 2004 was a birthday present that my dad gave me and I remember pulling my first all-nighter trying to get Auxerre to the UCL - signed Diego (pre-Wolfsburg) and Robinho (pre-rape) to play up forward. Not amazing game but fun enough for what was essentially a legacy release. The PS2 days were things of legend. 2005 was rather hard but then there was the free kick system. I don't think I've ever had more fun taking a free kick after that. I think the peak was around 07, I do believe following games for that system were based after it. There was something heartwarming about the adventures you could have as a manager. I specially liked the staff (not quite the same to what the new game has) and the scouting system (harder than what the games have had since the 360 days) but it was just a fun package. I think I've moved onto the new gen with FIFA 11? Came with the package, wasn't amazing but I guess it was OK. Don't think there were many amazing moments afterwards. There was a FIFA Street reboot which wasn't much. There were some attempts at a story mode which kind of sucked. The retro match was alright. I miss FIFA but from the PS2 days. The name change's probably not gonna make it much different. It'll be the same thing it has been for a while, FUT and whatever else has been able to survive through the cuts. Feel nothing for this.

Fifa 14 and 15(before price rangers) were THE ONES for me. Broken controllers, happiness, tears. So many good memories.

The fact that I have solid memories of specific packs on fit and teams I managed on career modes in fifa 13 but couldn’t name one interesting thing I did in fifa 19 speaks volumes

My 3 favourite Fifas 1st. FIFA 99 (looks ugly, lacks modes but come on the gameplay was simply awesome!) 2.nd FIFA 09 (Played a ton of this. Learned how to make a goal from a corner with almost 100% certainty)(I had it on PS2 so it was like 07) 3.rd FIFA 16 (I loved to play "boring" football in this one. Loved to make all players, who's play style is spam skillmoves, angry with my game controlling game style) Honorable mention FIFA 14 (This was simply really enjoyable...) You reminded me with that be a pro mode! If LOVED it! i remember playing as Rooney and competing for placement in national team. it was so great! My 3 least favourite FIFAs 1st. FIFA 17 (got tired of FIFA, other games came out as well and new game engine took enough time for me to learn it. Didn't like it at first so the bad taste remained with this one) 2.nd FIFA 20 (probably ok game just didn't have time to play so the taste was bland at the end.) 3.rd FIFA 22 (knit picking here now but simply because they didn't bring the next gen graphics for PC at the same point as for the consoles) Let me add here. singleplayer modes feel discarded nowdays. FUT feels more like a chore instead of fun. Too many different special cards possibly because special cards don't feel like anything nowdays.

i remember the first time i played ultimate team on fifa 14. i didnt have xbox live and i played offline for about a month. i was legit happy when i packed gold rosicky. those were good times. now i usually quit at around TOTS because all teams look and play the same

Back in the FIFA 15 days, when the price ranges ruined the market me and my mates went back on FIFA 12 and would try to win high rated players on bid for like 150 coins. Also remember packing Westcarr from a bronze pack and being gassed 😂😢

Recent fifa’s have been really boring imo (gameplay, FUT especially) and haven’t played the game properly since fifa 18. But FIFA 08-18 run was special.

I got a buzz every fifa cos we were all talking about it but as the years went on and people dropped off I played less and less. Hated 14 though 😂 got so made I broke the disk 😅

FIFA 11, 12 and 13 had by far the most fun gameplay. Fifa 12 UT was hard without spending money, but fifa 13 was far more enjoyable earning coins and developing your team. Later FIFAs the gameplay was changed completely.

During Covid all I played was 2k20 and I didn’t know it was the best 2k so far at that time.

I’ve played: FIFA 08, FIFA 14, FIFA 15, FIFA 16 (demo), FIFA 17 (not mine), FIFA 18, FIFA 19, FIFA 20, FIFA 22, FIFA 23… My favorite: FIFA 15 😮‍💨

Fifa was peak during Fifa 07-15 and one of the best ones out there is Fifa 10, 13, 14 and 15. Fifa 16-18 was still fun but it did had problems most notably Fifa 16 with its horrendous passing and shooting, winning penalties 9/10 pre patches and the worst FUT cards design ever. Fifa 19 onwards it became more tedious than fun especially in career mode. Mind you, I don't buy Fifa every year but after playing Fifa 21 and 22, it's tedious. It's like there's one game you play so well and yet lose through bullshit rather than getting outplayed by the better player. The only reason we play Fifa not because of the game itself, is because we're football fans and trust me on this had EA had equal licensing with Konami or other gaming publishers 9/10 people would rather play PES than Fifa due to having a superior gameplay however Konami killed PES. Fifa has drove us mad time to time however we can never forget the memories we had during the peak years. EA FC 24 will be a brand new era in football game but the tedious nature will still remain.

FIFA 07 & 14 was goated. 19… as much as it drove me insane it was probably the last time I truly had fun playing. 16 was good as it was the last FIFA that recognised defending as an art form & a skill. The worst one for me by far was 20, I’ve never felt more disconnected as a player & the patches totally transformed the whole game in terms of gameplay about 4 times… Shambles of a game
