I had the privilege of training under master LCX for a few years when he arrived in Australia in 1989. few people have left an impact on their students such as LCX, he is one of the greatest wushu legends ever and a truly humble person respected by all who know him, a quality strived for by so many masters and comes so naturally to him. Many thanks.......
Make no mistake, LCX is an ATHLETE. He didn't fight or spar. His XY is part of his overall wushu. And of course wushu was driven by Beijing (i.e. Hebei)so every modern event has a Hebei twist.
Yes. But LCX here is 1 part internal 4 parts external. Even if he wanted to express more internal, the bounds of standardization prevent him from scoring well if he chooses to deviate too much from competition format.
It's tougher for the internal arts to have popular appeal in the wushu platform. Anything brought on the carpet retains changquan-esque elements which are quite contrary to internal kungfu. Nevertheless, Liang Chang Xing was an excellent athlete!
