Dammnnn! Incredible. Talking about nostalgia! My mom bought me these in 1989, it was sever begging, begging and more begging . If it wasn’t for my mom also meeting my step dad that year it would’ve never went down . He was made great in my book when she came home with my first Air Jordan ever, Fire red 4s! Following year I did everything I could to get up money to save up for the FR 5s which I didn’t get until 1991. To be able to have both retros in my collection today is enough for me to be grateful.

Academy is still located here in Texas they used to alway carry jordans up to the number 7s if I recall correctly, I remember people walking in taking off their old shoes and walking out with a new pair of Jordan’s since they were on the sales floor, I am sure that was on of the reasons they quit carrying them, I also remember Dillard’s,Bells and Jc penny’s carrying Jordan’s

I do remember Penny's carrying the black and infrared 6s back in 91 so thats true. My best friends mom bought him and his big brother that was in high school at the time pairs and they were the dopest pair of shoes I've ever seen at that time and still are to this day. I just can't get em outta my head even today.

You and I are just about the same age and yes, I do remember when these dropped! I thought they were the DOPEST shoe ever made. I'm from Chicago and in our minds, at this point, ESPECIALLY in 89'-90', he was an ABSOLUTE legend already! Unfortunately, we were broke AF hood kids at the time and I never got an original pair. Our cousins did tho. But I'm not a collector. I buy them now to wear them, but I live through your channel. Nice find, these are ILL!

fire! i found those in a garbage can back in 1990 they were my friends brothers. i kept them but have no clue where they are now. i cut the air pocket out of one and sold it for 5 bux, back then. i was 10

That hang tag settles a few disputes but im amazed at the lack of yellowing, my 2018 BC3s tag is very yellow already

Very cool! Wish I still had my WC 3s, BC 3s from '88 and WC 4s from '89. Still have OG Charcoal 9s, Shadow 10s, Taxi 12s, Playoff 12s, He Got Game 13s, Playoff 13s and Last Shot 14s. Most are still in good condition....all are worn. Also have Jordan's autograph on the cover of Sports Illustrated when he was still at UNC. Been a Jordan head for a cool minute 😄 Much respect for your dope collection 🤝🏾

Yeah. None here in CA and I see mostly TX and the south. We have DSG and Big 5. There’s a lot more sporting goods stores that used to carry Jordans but a lot of them are either gone or just don’t sell them anymore like they used to back in the day

Would you say that the back plastic/rubber pull tabs and winglets are thicker on the originals versus the retros?? My bred retros pull tabs and winglets seem really thin and flimsier than the ones back in the days. Or am I just trippin?

Most definitely more rigid than the retros. Just seems like it was made with better quality materials. JB definitely cuts some corners with retros nowadays.

I miss that. Thats why something just felt a little off with my retros but couldn't put my finger on it its a shame but there still nice either way and I'm blessed to be able to afford the nostalgia these days I couldn't back then.

Yes, but it’s important to communicate how you want your item packaged to the seller after the sale. I entrusted my guy to take care of me since we communicate often and he was able to send me pictures of how he packaged the shoes.

It really depends on what you intend to do with them. Mine is basically a collector piece with the original sole so it’ll be a display. If you intend to wear, you should definitely sole swap them. If for sale or trade, I would leave as is and generate interest from collectors

They are glued down and hard to remove. Didn’t want to reach in there and risk further damage/crumbling. They are black insoles with red Nike Air lettering. Similar to the 2020 Fire Red 4 retro just not as huge.
