John Fisher I've seen a million rs7's in black white... whatever... I don't even turn my head at one anymore in those regular colors.... but THIS is something special 😍 you must be blind...
the prices of this are just plummeting, the only question is, are they reliable, a7, s7, rs7? im about to buy one and if there is anyone who knows more than me, please let me hear
This is a solid car. Too bad the depreciation is terrible. Also, back doors unlocks automatically when you want to exit, or double pull it to unlock it as well.
Eric Majeski the rod bearings are a thing on it. However I dont believe you need to panic as much as people think unless you’re racing the car often. Also the throttle actuator is a thing too lol.
That air suspension towing setting is not meant for trailers. It's meant for the winter time when you have to *again* pull another BMW out of the snow...
A7 is competitor with Merc Cls, and Bmw 6 series, not regular sedans. And ashtray in front is something like a cup that you can put in cupholder. Its modular, you have that in volkswagens.
mine too, I hate with every fibre of my being having this humongous Ipad tablet monstrosity in the middle of a nice flowing dashboard.....I especially hate the bolt on ones that many are putting on the backs of the front seats. Atrocious from a design perspective....
I absolutely hate the retractable ones. The screen doesn't have to impact the flowing dashboard UNLESS YOU MAKE IT THIS HUGE BILLBOARD ON TOP OF IT. I'm never going to have the infotainment screen down unless I have a very good full digital dash like the Audi ones, and even then I figure I would be fine controlling many of the features that would be placed in that middle portion of the interior from a screen anyway. I would only want a couple dials for climate control functions that are used the most often.
well, it's funny because everything that is on that screen can be controlled by your phone so the screen is 100% unnecessary. In fact, most of the things on the screen aren't necessary just more things to F up.... This is a perfect example of something that is commonplace and very simple and easy and reliable to do, that they made it more complex than it has to be: Power windows on a 2004 F150. They aren't just analog buttons that send power to the motors +/- or -/+. They are IC's that are connected to the ECM and if your battery goes dead, it takes a while before the computer learns that hey, you DO in fact want to roll your windows down.... Or that one car that Doug reviewed where the 2 middle louvers in the dash were controlled via the touch screen. Do you realize the complexity to get that to happen? The louvers require a servo motor to go up and down and another to go left and right. 2 motors, with either IC's attached OR a separate digital connection to the ECU....or you can move your hand down 2 inches and adjust them....and it's not like ALL are done that way, just the two in the middle. I will guarantee this: on 8 year old cars with all these electronics? Number 1 issue won't be a bad tranny or engine. It will be bugs in the electronics and will cost you 1,000s to find and you may not ever find it..... Want an example? Look up superspeedersrob and his video on selling his used McLaren. He sold it to a guy, 2 weeks later a $300 electronic part went on the suspension system and destroyed numerous other parts...total bill? $50,000.00.........
well, the beauty about one that folds away is: you can have it right in front, or I can fold it out of sight....best of both worlds. But all this "see what we can do" just reminds me of that super duper net connected $400 thermostat my gas company gave me for free.....awesome right? Well, awesome until I got an email from them to change the password on it immediately because their server got hacked, and that means they got my password, which gave them access to MY network, which gave them access to all my financial information....THROUGH MY FUCKING THERMOSTAT!! I didn't change my password, I disconnected it and hit it with a hammer
Picking fault with car manuals is the kind of detail I come here for. Please don’t ever change or make your videos more ‘professional’. You’re one of a kind!
@16:42 Doug, you missed the SIGNATURE on the passenger strut tower. It's only on 2014 models. That's a signature of the engineer who worked on it. -Bryan
@@thai-anhnguyen5527 ended up paying $60k for 2016 38k miles. Sold for $55k about 1 year later and had just normal oil. The car did come with sport and winter wheels (sold sport for $3k) so overall was close to free to drive. The v8 super reliable, I'm actually getting a V8 R8 early next year for that reason. I have an RS5 Sportback that replaced the RS7 but even from 2016 the tech (assuming prestige) pretty comparable to 2018-2019 models.
I hope you got extended warranty. My steering module broke after owning the car for 3 months, didnt even have 50k miles on it. Repair 4930$ . I am still happy with the car though even though it is just A7
Doug, I know this is 4 years later, but just incase no one else has commented, the "tow" button for the air ride has NOTHING to do with towing something. But it does however have everything to do with the vehicle BEING towed. If you don't disable to air suspension and your tow truck driver ratchets the vehicle tight to the flatbed, your suspension will mistake that for too much weight inside and will attempt to level the car off. But, since it's chained down, it will not raise the ride height. What it will do is either blow up the air pump, the air shocks, or BOTH. Just thought you should know.
I read the comments before watching the video and thought that's one of the "Doug is the type of person..." jokes, but boy I was wrong.. I just found out that each of these jokes are actually true.
Alex Just Technically the RS7 does compete with the M5 and E63 in addition to the CLS 63 and M6 because the A6 does not come in RS spec in the United States. The most we get is the S6 which technically competes with the models beneath the M5 and E63.
multiple wild card buttons.... buttons 1-10 on the BMW idrive system dating back to 2009 and probably earlier. They are capacity touch, programmable buttons and they're so great. You touch your finger to one of the buttons and on the idrive screen a message will pop out from the top telling you what that button will do. The button has a sensor to know your finger it on it but not pressing it in. Press the button and it will do the thing it say it will do. Press and hold the button and it will reprogram that button to do whatever it is you're currently doing in the idrive system. It's a killer feature.
Yup. The rs7 is too long just like the m6 and cls63 and these cars are not as nimble as the e63 m5 or rs6. Its a weird thing..... M5 only comes as a sedan.... Rs6 only comes as an estate and e63 comes as either. And rs6 is not available in north America so as a result people end up very confused about what it competes with but here is the deal. So like you said... the rs7 is designed to compete with the cls63 and m6... Just as the non sport versions.... Cls and a7 and 6 series would compete with each other. Only difference is that a7/rs7 comes in a hatch back like design.... Which there is also a cls shooting break I believe as well that comes as a hatchback....these are cars designed to be 4 doors but with a coupe like profile.... They are long luxury sedans with a sporty edge to them. But they are more of authobahn cruising rockets rather than nimble sports cars. That's where the rs6 m5 and e63 come in. Not only can they accelerate well but they are also nimble and good around corners... So you are right. Having said that though... Because the rs6 is not available in north America... In that respect only you can say the e63 and m5 can still compete with the rs7 even though they aren't really designed to.
C class sedan/coupe/wagon/convertible ----- A4 sedan/wagon, A5 coupe/ 4 door coupe/convertible ----- 3 series sedan/wagon, 4 series coupe/4 door coupe/convertible E class sedan/wagon/convertible, CLS ------ A6 sedan/wagon, A7 ----- 5 series sedan/wagon, 6 series coupe/4 door coupe/convertible
Jamie Ross Yes I was an English major in college simply putting a subject after a comma, in a sentence that speaks of said subject, is within the rules
You mentioned how the Mercedes and BMW are "trying too hard." Have you seen the new civic type r? Talk about trying too hard. Who is Honda trying to fool?
Shock listen sherlock i drive German cars for now about 20 years, Volkswagen, Opel, Audi, Mercedes, BMW all of them-great cars easy to drive and you go on and drive your stupid honda which is riced out to the maximum and is reaching 125mph barely.
Hey Doug, just letting you know at 13:00 the air suspension setting for towing is not for the car to tow but if the car needs to be towed. What will happen if you try to tow the car without pushing that button is the air suspension will keep trying to adjust and could potentially break it. Hope this helps
Hello Doug. I rarely comment but I watch your videos a lot and truly respect your videos . I'm a normal dude. Walked away from 6 auto wrecks in my 37 years and drive special needs children to school for my day job. My crazy fast and insane driving days are gone. But I'm with you on this rs7. I drive an 04 Hyundai sonata v6 with 150 thousand miles. I love that car. Great mileage. Comftorble and a little power to haul ass if needed. I loved your series 1 eclipse gsx video too. I have had 2 series 1 eclipse and an 03 eclipse. Only 4 cyl versions but they were great get away cars in the city if your know what I mean. I love your videos because you give us an intricate look at amazing cars I will never afford. My car was 1500 dollars. I love it. I have had many cars and the sonata is my favorite. It's sutble. 1 old lady owner before me so it runs almost brand new for the 150000 miles. Even the stock speakers work like new. I would love to see more videos of cars for every day people. 1000 or 2500 used cars us normal people can find and buy that will handle a true commuter. I live in casa Grande Arizona so I drive on the i 10 almost daily. I hope to shake your hand some day. Keep doing your thing homie. Much love and respect .
Unlocking locked doors from the inside on VAG-vehicles is as easy as pulling the the door lever twice. Edit: Also, that weird sound when adjusting the music volume while parking is so that you can judge whether or not you can make out the sound of the proximity warning over the music. If you'd had the stereo actually playing anything while doing that it'd be abundantly clear...
12:19 - The rear Doors do not have an Unlock Button as the Door will automatically unlock when the Handle is pulled (unless the Child Lock (05:33) is on, of course! ;-))
Pieter Post no the S6 competes with the M5 and the E63S although Audi seriously needs to up the power in the S6 if they want the S6 to stay competitive with the M5 and E63S
I used to drive around in my Audi with both front and rear fog lights until I realized I was driving around looking like I had my foot on the break the whole time😂
Well the night vision is a feature for criminals. If they get chased by police they just switch on country roads turn the headlights of and use the night vision. Its very common here in europe just disapering in the dark forest.
mustermann008 I simply don’t believe you. The car has tracking and all sorts of features ruinous to the naughties. No criminal in their right mind would use a car so capable of evidencing their behaviour.
Andrew HG There's equipment preventing all this from working, my best friends 2015 s8 got stolen from his home in a central location and they never ended up finding it
Umar Khan there is a difference in zooming off into a forest after robbing a bank and just throwing the car into a shipping container to appear in Mobassa. I don’t dispute they get stolen. I do believe that as a get away vehicle its a risk with all the IT on board. No worries though.
If grandma is prone to exiting the vehicle at inappropriate times you may want to keep her door locked as well. Perhaps that's why the ashtrays are in the back - to dissuade grandma from exiting the vehicle in search of a place to smoke. As to the lack of ashtrays in the front, you can use the armrest storage as an ashtray if you want.
Coming back to this after watching Dougs present content it is so evident how much more confident/entertaining he's becomein front of the camera, not that 3 years ago he was bad, just a little more sterile.
Doug I just wanted to let you know that it was this exact video that first introduced me to the Audi RS7 And A7. I hadn’t seen or noticed it prior too. I used your good information and ended up purchasing an A7 diesel. You deserve credit, so thank you! It the best car I’ve ever driven and owned.
*Doug's tongue is too fucking big for his mouth* . that's why it frequently looks like it's trying to escape. Doug's girlfriend/wife is a lucky woman. Instead of -- Doug's the type of guy -- blah blah blah
Love the car, love the color Audi’s have beautiful interiors love BMW and Benz but the Audi speaks to me. The Kia stinger in my view is a relatively affordable alternative
Benzodiazepine Compare it to most grays you see on cars though, most are more silver and full of metallic flake. Nardo grey is just pure grey with no undertones and no metallic. Yes it's "just gray" but it stands because it's so pure.
Hey Demuro, lidle input to the rs7: the small black pad which the numbers showing up when u start it is also a touchscreen as soon as you open the navigationmap on screen u can actually zoom and move the screen arround with this field😉
