game dev here. the icicle explosion is probably just a particle effect, not individual hand crafted animations. I assume they have several different shapes of "shattered ice" sprites which are then spawned with a random direction and speed attached to them, making the explosion different every time.

That looked like an Angry Sun at the end. I wonder if the way back required the player to jump over the Sun as it passes. Also, do you have to take the spring back with you as well?

I made that level. No angry sun, that's a jumping wiggler that has the key. You need to take the spring through the door and do a spring jump in less than 20 seconds.

@@ThomasWinget That level was very easy and traditional. It really started when dave found a level called Bean Burrito 2: The Reckoning, which was not at all similar to the original level. People have been making sequels ever since.
