Yes! Yes!!! YES!!!!!! Perry is the man. Down by Law is my absolute favorite Jarmusch film. Definitely a must watch.

Fantastic, great to see Perry back. If you are interested in more stylistic and influential silent films I highly recommend Man with a Movie camera, The Phantom Carriage, The Wind and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. All Masterpieces that I discovered this year.

I discovered a small "old school" DVD shop in my city and I got into the habit of going there every now and then (I had also sent them my resume, but unfortunately with the crisis in the sector they didn't hire staff, sigh). The owner, always present at the counter, is an old school cinephile, who gets to chatting to people who come in about movies they want to catch or even just about cinema in general. And in there it is really full of movies of all genres (even unknown things that you would never find in a normal shop in the mall), so much so that every time I leave it I always end up with completely different titles (last time I took the Three Colors Trilogy by Kieslowski, The Hateful Eight, Divorce Italian Style and Bande a part, six films completely different in terms of cinematographic current and historical period). The experience of buying home video in the shop talking about cinema with other enthusiasts is unfortunately disappearing given the presence of twenty thousand streaming services, but I believe that for a cinephile there is nothing more beautiful.

I think the packaging for Marriage Story is maybe second to Dr. Strangelove for my favorite Criterion blu-ray unexpected extras.

The New World is the only Malick movie I saw in theaters and was one of my first criterions! One of my all time favorites!

Fists in the Pocket is one of the great Italian films. I’ve had it on DVD for years, haven’t upgraded yet.

I love Criterion Blow Up edition as it is beautiful packaging and the film is very well done by Antonioni in color in London. Brian de Palma is a film maker that I love sometimes but also hate! I haven’t seen Blow Out yet and as I have hear very good comments I decided to order 4K Criterion edition.

If you like After Life, get Still Walking, it’s even better. He reminds me of Ozu a bit.

Nice choices with Valerie and Her Week of Wonders, Daddy Long Legs, Sweet Smell of Success and always anything by John Waters. The DVD of Carnival of Souls is worth getting for both cuts btw. Looking forward to getting Boat People soon as well as Flowers of Shanghai.

Fail Safe is outstanding. I have seen it recently.

Smithereens is excellent....it is about the punk culture, but it is more of a story of one girl's survival living a rough life on the streets. Very powerful film. I recommend it. Also, Daddy Longlegs is an excellent film and a very easy blind buy.

Dreyer……Ordet is amazing as is Gertrud. Ordet is one of my favorites.

Love the description of True Stories. Ive always seen it, and now want to get it.

Favorite Spike Lee movie is Summer of Sam. Do the Right Thing a close second. Good review guys.

Btw since you mentioned EO in the video. Just wanted to let you know how Janus Films owns the rights to the film, so I would be not surprised to see it get a criterion release sometime in 2023.

Nice to see some True Stories love. I watched that movie after an an anxiety inducing day and it was so amazing. Obviosuly its not the best Talking Heads music but man is it fun and john goodmans really good and that fashion show scene ggod that movie rocks. Good shit.
