We have such different thinking processes in some spots yet we are both profitable players. This is the reason I love the game. I can always learn insight that is +EV and profitable from everyone.
@Liththium
@Liththium 11 месяцев назад
Just to share insight, the J3cc gotta give up on river... he likely has an A calling f/t and only loses to AQ/AK. The first hand you opened was 45dd so he knows you're not capped w/ premiums when you open IP.
@passiongaming7450
@passiongaming7450 11 месяцев назад
@@Liththiumif someone opens IP why would anyone think they’re capped with premiums? Opening OOP is where you’ll more often be capped with premiums.

Yea I think he’s overly optimistic about what hands are going to fold when he triples off, he’s repping a narrow range of hands that are very difficult to make. Take that 1010 hand for example, I absolutely don’t think overpairs will fold the majority of the time, then he lists the range advantage he has. While this is true I can literally count on my fingers the number of times I’ve flopped 2 Pair plus Vs an overpair the entire calendar year, maybe my card distribution is just different and these are hands made at a much higher frequency for other people 🤷‍♂️

On the aces hand when you go for thin value with the raise, if you had a hand like AsTx, you would be betting turn to start the bluff. Also, you're making up 1 hand when your value range has.. a ton of hands. Also you never have sets here when opponent can have all the sets and also turn 2 pair or even a random 7/8/9 into a bluff here (unlikely at these stakes but you never know). I wonder the value of raising flop here since hard to know if people are donking out here with a random pair / straight draw and putting you on KQ/AK/AQ/AJ and will just fold flop to a bet.
@BluffaloSam
@BluffaloSam 11 месяцев назад
I would not bet the turn with AsTx, it's mostly a check. I have tons of sets here, I'm never raising Flop IP with a set vs a donk on this board, I'm not betting Turn with a set. You're making a lot of assumptions out of my range that aren't true. This is a defensive board for a lot of IP's range, and playing more rivers aggressively is going to put OOP in a rough spot when he chooses to lead out on an extremely dynamic board.
@jonathansykes4986
@jonathansykes4986 11 месяцев назад
@@BluffaloSam I highly doubt you’re not raising flop with a set. I have not run this through a solver but I would assume solver puts raising at like 99%. Nearly half the deck is a bad card on the turn for a hand like a set. Edit: Ran it through a solver with you opening 2.5x and sb calling, 100bb deep and sb leading out 1/3rd pot bet. It basically calls everything as the highest EV except for 6s5s. Although raise 50% pot is also a value and near equal line as call in this spot. Quite interesting. Highest EV line on turn after getting checked to is bet 1/3rd pot (but checking is only 0.01bb worse) and checking all aces with non-spades highest ev line. Sets are about the same but just a tiny bit more value than AsAx here with a 1/3rd pot bet. And same with AsTx betting 1/3rd pot is roughly same EV as sets / AsAx here.. On river vs a small lead (villian bet out 1/3rd, gto has 1/4th so going with that).. all AsAx highest value is calls although small raise is same EV wise except if you had AsAc where it prefers call. And it'd prefer calling with As9x and raising with As8x, K9, QJcc, KsTx, KcTs. And if your opponent rips it on you, their value should come from boats/quads while calling all flushes and shoving 98, 5x, A7s, A8s, A9s, K9s, T9s. Interesting hand.
@BluffaloSam
@BluffaloSam 11 месяцев назад
@jonathansykes4986 I know my own strategy, I would flat 100% of my range here. If half the turn is bad why are we bloating the pot IP when half the deck is going to make our life difficult? Passive lines with strong hands in live games make plenty of money.

Would you say your typical buy-in is ~$1000? I only ask because if true, you have a "small" back roll (~13-15 buy-ins) according to the "knowledge" one finds on training sites. What are your thoughts on bankroll management and buy-ins "required" to play at the stakes of your choice. It is rather refreshing to see someone with not much money actually move up in stakes and take the challenge while also growing a bankroll. Many of the teaching sites and the like out there make it seem like "hey you need to have $20K saved up to play $500 buy-in game or you'll go broke" but realistically I can't say I know many players who actually have saved that much money before they even start thinking about playing live poker. Sorry, long winded comment. Keep it up dude!
@BluffaloSam
@BluffaloSam 11 месяцев назад
At the time of this video, typical buyin was 1k (its now 1.5k, and soon to be 2k) I personally hate all of these BRM requirements, they are way too nitty for live poker. Keep in mind I do have a job (that I'm currently on break from) but if I busted my poker bankroll, I'd be just fine. I doubt that will happen, and at this point I don't see myself losing enough to have to move back down to 1/3, but it's pretty easy just to take a step back and play lower stakes for a bit and grind it back up. Shot taking is important, especially getting out of 1/3 ASAP.

Nice vlog sir. In my opinion when you get called twice like in this spot (7:49) players are going to call you down on the river with an ace all day long. (certainly with your image and if the rivers is a brick) I like your playing style, but like you said J3s is just too far down of a playable hand even in position. (like you said J7s, J8s should be the bottom range to iso-raise there) I know you pick up a lot of dead money quite often even with a crappy hand as J3s, but i have the idea that it does backfire a lot at you as well a gives your winrate a unnecessary hit.
@BluffaloSam
@BluffaloSam 11 месяцев назад
Yeah, I've tightened up the button steal range a bit, you don't really need to be fighting over 1.3bbs in live cash. If I ever play unraked games I will be opening super wide again though
@makeamericaamericaagain
@makeamericaamericaagain 11 месяцев назад
With the J3cc hand, nobody is ever folding a weak ace there because he uses the Q kicker with the board pairing 7. I realize you’re not winning ever by checking, but you’re also not losing 225 for no reason. Cheers!

A rake of 13+2 is brutal. Your play includes elements if GTO plus exploitative. Concentration upon SPR is impressive. Notice from EP you occassionally start a little looser than recommended by most training sites. Can't decide if Splitsuit, Bart Hanson, Jonathan Little or someone else is your poker coach.
@BluffaloSam
@BluffaloSam 11 месяцев назад
I really enjoy studying, but I always trust my instinct/gut at the end of the day. Depends on the game I'm in, if it's quite reggy and lots of 3bets/squeezes, EP range is the first thing to tighten up, in games where it's more multiway SRPs, I'm opening it up very wide. Currently don't have a coach, but will look into one in the near future!

I honestly have to know, I always hear vloggers talk about the hands they COULD have in 3 bet pots. Like you’ll blast off 4-5x a session in spots bc you have a range advantage, and I’m not disagreeing with any of your assessments, I respect your thought processes a lot. But I literally don’t flop 2 pair+ in 3 bets 10x an entire calendar year, this isn’t an exaggeration, and i play plenty of them. But yet the opponent is supposed to believe you do something 4-5x a night that I don’t do 10x in an entire year, maybe my card distribution is just that much different then yours/everyone else’s. That’s why I would have trouble folding to you in the majority of these “range advantage” spots
@BluffaloSam
@BluffaloSam 11 месяцев назад
You're probably not playing enough 3b pots. There's at least 20 in a session that don't make the vlog when I bet and take it down, or check fold.
@richardsimmonsjuggernautof9781
@richardsimmonsjuggernautof9781 11 месяцев назад
@@BluffaloSam I assure you I am, the lack of 3 bet pots isn’t an issue for me. I know preflop ranges left right and sideways. You know how many times I’ve flopped a set vs an overpair in a 3 bet pot the last year? Three times, and I don’t like folding pairs pre and I’m not much of a limper so it’s not from a lack of opportunities, so I just always get a little chuckle when I see vloggers talk about how the overpairs should fold bc you can have all the sets like these are easy hands to make, idk maybe they are for other people…
@BluffaloSam
@BluffaloSam 11 месяцев назад
@richardsimmonsjuggernautof9781 some of my opponents are also making tptk Folds OTT in 3 bet pots against me, so I can definitely go pretty wild in these spots as well.
@richardsimmonsjuggernautof9781
@richardsimmonsjuggernautof9781 11 месяцев назад
@@BluffaloSam that’s wild, also I think you misunderstood my initial post, I was referring specifically to pots in which I’m calling the 3 bet, not the 3 bet aggressor. I can tell you for a fact I haven’t made 2 pair+ 10 times the entire year in those circumstances, so I just think it’s funny that 4-5x in a session you’re trying to rep hands that I don’t make 10x in an entire year in that same situation. If people are actually folding overpairs or tptk to you often in those situations that’s pretty wild to say the least
