Alyn walks to Blue Lough at the foot of Slievelamagan in the Mourne Mountains for a great wild camp. The peaceful, warm spring evening changes completely when the rain begins
Some lovely peaceful images Alyn! Such a nice way to spend a night in nature - being tucked up warm and comfy 😊 Always nice to see the Blue Lough, I look forward to being there again 😎
Was just brilliant Miriam. I must have sat at the lough for ages before the sun finally set. So peaceful. Exactly what I needed to get my head cleared. Cant wait to see you up north again.
Brilliant Alyn! That looked like it did you the world of good 💪 The change in the river was amazing but that time lapse from 09:25 was fantastic 😍 Thanks for the shout out too 👍 😊
Thanks Niall. This one was an absolute banger! Amazing night out. I completely lost time sitting by the lough. It was just so still and then the contrast with the next days waterworld! Brilliant. So glad you enjoyed it.
Alyn, nature therapy is the best - the sights, sounds, smells, touch and thoughts of what is there and only there👍 It just works its magic on you (including the magic of rain🌨 falling on a tent and the slosh of water displaced by boots). 'Not overly flat' is a good description of many a camping spot😊 It looked like headspace was achieved✅
Preach it brother!!!!!! Nail squarely hit on the head. The mountains, forest, rivers are the very few places that have the ability to get me out of my head. And it is absolutely a full sensory thing. I sat by the lough on a hard rock, it was getting darker and colder, the colours were changing the clouds were descending and the smell of damp earth and cold air fill you. It is definitely magic, Gerry. The change in season plays a big role too though, I think. There is a mind set shift for me- it seems a much more positive prospect to be in the mountains in spring, even if it is lashing down. Lol
Thanks Pat. It was brilliant. Such a great experience. Simple walk with a lot of sitting around by the lough. Can't beat it. 5⭐ would definitely recommend.
Brilliant Alyn. Sometimes you just need to get out and do it. I was in the caravan at Murlough in Newcastle on Tuesday and the rain was battering the roof so fair play for camping in that rain.
It was that Jason. Tbh it was fantastic. I sat by the lough for as long as the light would allow me and it was so quiet. Hardly a breath of wind. So chilled out.
Hi Alyn. Great that you got out for a night in the mountains, sometimes you just have to go for it !!. The evening meal has to be one of the highlights of a nights camp, especially when you have something sweet to have for after's 😊. A piece of ground can soon lose its flatness when you put your sleeping mattress on it. 😂. all the best
Aw Andrew it was a belter of a night out. I loved this one. It had all the classic moments that make a great night in the mountains: the weather, the views, the peace and quiet, good food and a bar of cadburys caramel. Ha ha ha.
Great little wild camp trip, it is very soothing and therapeutic listening to the rain from a tent. I tried to ask google for a word for listening to rain, and found the word pluviophile. "A pluviophile finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days, which is pretty handy if you live in the UK"
Well, I am definitely a pluviophile when I'm in my tent, not so sure I find joy and peace of mind when I'm walking home in it though. 😅. It was a great experience and I will definitely be goin back.
Ahh man, I could listen to the sound of the rain on the fly sheet all night long, I think the Swedish word Hygge might sum it up for me. Much like how Mike is doing the Craghoppers adverts now, I can totally see you working for Cadburys soon😂 What are you reading by the way, anything interesting? Great video again, thanks for sharing Alyn!
So much to say to this comment Gary! Hygge is my mantra! Why rough it when you can hygge? And you know I'm totally gonna make that cadbury's ad now à la Mike at Craghoppers🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. My book at the minute is a hard but uplifting book called "The choice" by Edith Eger. Well, I have many books on the go all at once but this is the one I had with me. The whole experience was fantastic Gary. This trip has been on my list for a while and it didn't disappoint. So calm, I spent ages just sitting and then the rain started and that was a different but equally recharging experience. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it
@@walkwatchers I’m sure that’s a hard read, an unimaginable experience. Did you watch Zone of Interest? A strange but powerful film on the same subject.
@@IrelandOutdoors No I haven't . Will def give it a watch. "The choice" is a tough read but it is all about the personal change within the author over time. An amazing transformation.
Great wee camp 💪 . Might check out that spot on my next one . Would you worry about rocks coming down off lamagan ? I had the same issue up near Binnian lake with the run off , very boggy but there are a few high dry spots :-)
I'll be honest, it didn't worry me but there was one moment in the middle of the night when I woke and imagined all the big loose rocks above my head and it did make me nervous. The volume of rain was much more of a concern. I have seen the edge of the lough overflow a number of times and was worried about flooding and run off. I didnt get a chance to explore the other side of the lough for pitches so it might be worth looking around there for space too.
