I'm gonna tell you a trade secret that I came up with personally. If you cut a piece of plumbing strap (hole punched strap) at a 35-45° angle from the corner, it makes the PERFECT tool to clean the passages of inshot burners with. I haven't found a better tool to do the job with yet.

I have a long, heavy steel pry bar in my basement, if you can find room in your van for storage, you can use it as a lever to move anything, dig or chip up anything, prop things up, it’s more useful than you think, even if you hardly need it..but when you do, it’s indispensable..(and keep a tube of plain bacitracin zinc in your bag..less ppl are allergic to it than polysporin stuff for cuts..)
@qyouwilber5734
@qyouwilber5734 Год назад
That is a great suggestion. A pry bar is a forgotten tool that no one carries with them. i know the exact one that you are talking about. I think I saw one recently on a train video here on you tube.

@@qyouwilber5734 he might be able to put it on top of his van, maybe in a long PVC storage pipe that closes (since it’s heavy and would become a javelin if he stopped hard, lol..) and could put a couple other things in there too..the one I have is at least 6 (maybe 7-8ft) ft long, with a flat spade end and a rounded point end..

tip of the day... you know how you want to see the error codes before you shut off the power ? same thing really ... do as much non-destructive testing before man handling and taking stuff apart. draft inducer pressures, pressure switch pressures, flame sensor test, etc. brush out in-house to make sure no spider webs. clear pilot hole on draft inducer where tube attachs, then progress to more hands on testing ... especially with a gas furnace. around 5:30 you asked why it shutoff, you hear the obvious deficiency, the draft inducer, attached to the draft inducer is a pressure switch, the combustion of the gas causes the characteristics of that gas to change, pressure switch opened and shut it off. you could hear the draft inducer change when it fired off second time ... more evidence that the DI has issues. which you recognized. before checking heat exchanger and spending time digging, should have pulled tube off of PS and checked that pressure, use draft simulator to see what pressures/vacuum pressures it opens and closes. then pulled the exhaust cover and looked in to draft inducer wheel. attempt to tighten mounting screws etc to draft assy. then move on to heat exchanger, etc always point out to home owners, home warranty companies, property owners, etc ... age of unit, components that have deteriorated such as whip that may have been ok when installed, and how it makes unit unsafe... electrical shock hazard, fire hazard, carbon monoxide hazard, etc ... more likely to gain approval. and that plate should have been quoted as well.

I loved watching you work. This is the first time I've looked in on your channel. You remind me of "Ivan, of Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics." You are meticulous in your work - you have the utmost of attention to detail - and you take care of the "little things.". I really enjoyed looking over your shoulder as you worked. I love the mechanics and electronics of systems. I've worked Avionics maintenance on aircraft - i try to work on my CAD driven systems on my '07 Buick. Have built and flown Exp. Amateur Built planes. So, watching you do your excellent work is right up my alley. When you fired up the system, following your repair, and those BLUE FLAMES emerged, I know my eyes opened WIDE. :-) I thought: "Wow, he really made it happen with this older unit." :-) I am a new subscriber and hope to see you "in action" again. I've read some of the comments and many folks realize what an expert you are in what you do. Many thanks for letting me watch. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
