i grew up on a small farm. take it from me. Blue will come around in time. the stress levels are up high for Herc right now as he has a baby goat to watch out for. Once Spruce is out of that needy stage and is able to butt heads with the bigger goats without Herc worrying about him getting hurt things will calm down the rest of the way. some animals can take a little longer to settle down. Herc is a puppy taking care of his first kid. its a big deal for him to suddenly go into all that big dog responsability when he is just a pup. he will calm down and blue will come around. time and patience is the key.

Blu is running right along with the rest of the pack, I think she will be fine, We tend to not think animals have bonds that they have to give up when we take them to our homes, maybe she was just really missing Oreo and it's taken a bit to adjust. All will be fine.😊

Lovely video of all the Doss families together at Chad And Raes farm. How supportive you all were for helping them to move onto their farm to live. What a change that is going to make to their lives. Maybe Miss Blue has had negative experiences with dogs. Negative experiences with humans. She is warming up to you, slowly but it's noticeable. I think she's afraid of Hercules because of something that happened in her past. 😢 She is a sweetheart. ❤🐐

I knew how big Bruce was while watching Spruce and thinking about him getting as big as his dad. I'm concerned what it will be like for you guys when he grows, and he thinks he's still little because he was a bottle baby. It will be interesting to see. I don't think Spruce is going to be as big as Bruce. When Bruce was a lot smaller he climbed in the feeders and ate as much as he could before being run off but Bruce never quit eating and was obsessed with food. He's been that way since joining Chad's farm.

Bruce, Blue & Oreo, Mario, Luigi, Spruce’s Mama, and Spruce are different breeds or mix of breeds, and that’s going to make a size and character differences. It’s hard to compare them all even father and son.

Bruce has never missed A meal! He eats with the cows, then when the alpacas get fed he has dinner with them, the goats get fed and Bruce dines with them. He has even tried to eat with the chickens but Chad put his foot down at that.

Bruce is whoever he is with. He used to be with the donkeys a lot and he stayed in the rain and acted just like them. Most of all Bruce is always where the food is. 😄 Maybe Spruce will take after his Mama and be smaller.

Trust me they will feel the pain lol. My friend had a great dane pup and she was always holding him and putting him in her lap to nap. He grew to a whopping 195 pnds and everytime he climbed on my legs i could feel stress cracks in the thighs lol. Had to push him off before they became real. 🤣🤣🤣

On Chad's farm ,Bruce's first buddies were the donkeys. They went everywhere together., Bruce even stood out in the rain with the donkeys. He backed away from the Hylands , but he was also young at the time. Now he has the Texans to deal with.

If I remember correctly, I think Bruce is a Boer goat. Male Boer goats can weigh from 200 to 340 pounds. Since Spruce's mother was smaller, he might not get that big. Also banding him will stunt his growth some too. Love seeing the whole family together.

Don't forget, Spruce's mama was very tiny. Chad was worried that she could potentially be hurt if Bruce bred her. So, there are genes from both. I think Blue will get more secure with time. It's not been very long at all. It's a process, as you know. I love watching all you've accomplished and the love and thought with which you put into every decision. ❤

Spruces mom was small so it's also possible that he won't get as big as Bruce. Thinking of your goat future, if you want to grow your herd, a second billy is useful to breed with female babies that were Marios. Spruce has the potential to throw some beautiful colors if you plan on selling some of the babies. Just my humble opinion. Texas Deb ❤️

Those leaps of Spruce's at the end of the video were so funny! I'm glad you caught them on camera. Bruce is a large goat, but you have to remember that Spruce's biological mama is a small pygmy goat. There is a very good chance that Spruce will NOT grow to be as large as Bruce. Also, as you said, when Spruce is a wether, he might not grow as large as if he remained intact. Only time will tell, but I sure am enjoying Spruce as a little kid right now. It was fun to see you both around the large animals on Chad & Rae's farm. I can imagine how intimidating it must have been to be around the cattle in particular, with their long horns and much greater size. You got some good footage of baby Frank being curious and walking up behind Kyle. Frank sure is a talker compared to Patrick. Thanks, Kyle and Shannon, and to Grandma and Grandpa, for coming out to help Chad, Rae, and the boys move out to the farm.

Blue sister has the exact head stance when being petted. There heads are straight ahead and they don’t move. Frank mowing was odd. It was directed at Kyle. I just love Spruces ears, they sparkle when the light hits them just right. It was nice seeing the Doss family. Bruce is a BIG goat. As big as Spruces feet are he's going to be a nice size goat. Sometimes it just takes a while for the new dynamic to work itself. Hurk is still a puppy and figuring it out. It has taken a year for our LGD to really acclimate to his goats, and He is a little younger than Hurk.

I enjoyed seeing different perspectives of the same visit! Your Dad's video was great, of course, but It was also interesting to see more of Oreo and Bruce in your video. 😊 I appreciate your concern for both Hercules' and Blue's well-being.

Spruce is going to be a big boy, but if you are going to be banding him, then he won't have nearly the muscle mass as Bruce carts around. We banded our buck at the end of kidding this year because he is related to all of our remaining does. We raised him from one of our first kiddings since getting back into goats and he has always been a super gentle and docile buck, even when in heavy rut. So we bought a new buckling to take over as heard sire later in the year and we are keeping Noctis as a whether so that he can hang out with the retired does during breeding season and the new buckling the rest of the time. Within 3 weeks of banding, Noctis lost almost all of his muscle mass, his mane, and his buck behavior along with his...well...truck accessories. I kinda feel sorry for him going from my big studly boy to being just a bit beefier than the does...but with a buck set of horns LOL. The other bonus is that I can love on him all year long now without getting stinky, sticky hands when scratching his chin.

My Pappa used to tell me that if you picked up a calf everyday from day one, you would be able to pick him up when he is grown. I didn’t want to think that my Pappa would tell me a tall tale but I couldn’t see me picking up a cow! I can’t wait to see Kyle pickup a Bruce-sized Spruce!😂❤ I am a widow with 2 sons. Every time I have a “job” for them to do, my youngest son is sick, has an injury or is busy, etc. Sounds a lot like your situation. We always laugh about it. 😂

Its possible Blue has had a bad experience with a bigger dog and Herc reminds her of it. Maybe the girls could have their own shelter area and occasionally be out alone with Herc so theres less stress trying to watch them all day and night. Most LGDs sleep days because they are up all night. Herc is doing a great job and as you said he is still young. I was thinking about his stomach issues. I had a Pom that was always fighting skin yeast infections or loose poo at times. I tried a couple probiotics but finally settled on PetLabCo probiotic chews. Was the only one that helped him. After two weeks his itching stopped, fur stopped being greasy and his poop was firmer. Unfortunately we had to put him to sleep a couple months later. He was 15 and started to decline fast due to a heart murmer and congestive heart failure. A little rice mixed in Hercs food may help bind him some also.

I was watching someone talk about Pyrenees (who has always had Pyrenees) and she said that Pyrenees perimeter is as far as they can go. Unless you limit their yard by a fence. They will assume their fence is as far as they can go. Our Pyrenees does that too.
