I'm looking to get back to that area in 2023 and hit Brook Trout Pond. Catch a few horn lake heritage brookies and see for myself how the pond reclamation is doing. thx for watching.

Nice video. Looked like a great trip. I haven't been up to West Canada Lakes Wilderness in a few years. Water levels look super low. You had much better luck fishing than I had last week.

Yeah, water must have been low but the forest was soaking wet, must have rained that week. Took time to find the deeper waters for fish.

I just watched this again for the second time Dave. Such a awesome trip and so cool to be able to eat fresh trout for just about every supper. Hope to run into you again sometime this next year. Jeff

First off it's great to see you back David. Great video super interesting and very cool. Definitely some beautiful bookies, I'll be spending next week at Allegany State Park for some native stream bookies. They won't be as big as those but I bet they'll taste just as good. Hopefully we'll see you again soon.

thx Michael, tight lines.

Very interesting. You kept my interest through the video. I started using a Garmin Inreach two years ago after decades of just a map and compass. It does help getting your bearings better in questionable areas.

Thanks! Yeah, especially in the rain, in thick forest and carrying a canoe but certainly doable without...just time consuming.

Awesome video. Which lakes were this video? In 1957 my grandfather got his biggest buck near brooktrout lake which is right in that same area. Headed there to explore soon.

Pillsbury, Cedar. The entire area is great. That would be haul to get a buck out of there and I bet they did it whole!

David -- can you tell me about your portage yoke? I also have a 12" Hornbeck Classis Fisherman. Thanks.

I purchased it direct from Hornbeck with Josh. It works fine. Simple design.

I hope to get deeper next visit, fish the reclaimed brooktrout lake, once dead from acid rain and now recovered.
