Had Eunice been born in a later time, she probably would have run for political office. What a special woman she was and they seemed like a lovely couple.
This is classic. The Shrivers were and are national treasures and definitely in charge of that interview. The reporter probably wished he had sent questions in advance and prepared better for this dynamic couple. Great raw footage.
The reporter in this case was famed defense attorney F Lee Bailey. You can see how prickly and particular she can be throughout the entire interview. FLB was feeling a tad bit uncomfortable/ annoyed or so that is what his body language was saying. Great interview. I just read Eunice's biography. A great read!
"My favourite picture is over there with Timothy feeding him fish", while the interviewer is already on the verge of a mental burnout, LOL. This is great
Eunice has that Kennedy hair, and Maria definitely got that from her. That was very thoughtful of her to ask for a retake to give Jackie credit for giving them JFK's doodles.
Eunice's father, Ambassador Joseph Kennedy, put it crudely but succinctly. He once said that"if Eunice had been born with balls, she would easily have been the best politician in the family".
Eunice Kennedy Shriver was a true renaissance woman for the disabled children and the mentality retarded. I applaud her for the efforts she made. Of course, her natural Boston accent.
@@EYE_GOTCHA her Boston accent is mainly spoken in the city of Boston and it's suburbs especially in Southie which is mainly a Irish-American working class neighborhood.
While Eunice was apparently sweet, kind and generous, she seems quite overbearing and controlling, honestly. I know she's well-meaning but I don't think I could be married to someone like that.
At 3:12, when Evelyn Lincoln is mentioned in relation to saving President Kennedy's doodle drawings, I think that Eunice says "cut that, can we cut that" and then gets the interview onto the topic of Jacqueline Bouvier, not Evelyn Lincoln, saving President Kennedy's doodle drawings.
I was friends with the late Robert L White (Kennedy Collecter) he told me that the Kennedy family was upset with Mrs Lincoln for taking the drawings. Mr White befriended Mrs Lincoln and after her death in 1995 she willed everything she had saved from President Kennedy to Mr White
The Kennedys were probably pissed that Evelyn Lincoln had kept some of the drawings and wanted to pretend it didn’t happen and give all the credit to Jackie instead.
F. Lee Baileys expressions were cracking me up. Eunice is something else. She does remind me so much of Jack in her speech, and mannerism's, but I think she's a little OCD.
I wonder if Eunice did not want to mention Mrs. Lincoln, as it has come to light that Evelyn Lincoln had swiped many things from the Kennedy White House and it took heroic efforts by the Kennedy family to get them back.
Mrs. Lincoln was asked to remove all of President Kennedy's things out of the offices in the white house on Nov. 23 1963 by LBJ. Mrs Lincoln also saved a lot of president kennedy.
@Canis Lupus I was friends with the late Robert L White (Kennedy Collecter) he befriended Mrs Lincoln and after her death in 1995 willed her entire collection of the President to Mr White. I was able to see some of those items. Now most of the things Mrs Lincoln had are back with the Kennedy Family
That interviewer was none other than the famous defense attorney F. Lee Bailey. I was quite surprised to see him conducting this interview. I wonder how he was selected to do it?
Because the 1941 lobotomy severely limited Rose Marie's capacity. Her speech was significantly altered, and her physical abilities had been largely diminished as a result. There was no hope of her performing basic activities of daily living. By sending her to Wisconsin, she was out of the way of the family and the intrusive press, which the family was working to avoid.
Since the 1980's I worked for an association that houses people with intellectual disabilities. When I first started there, the association was called Metro Assn for the Mentally Retarded. By the end of the 80's they changed the name (several times). Now, it is just refered to as Community Living. I agree with you, I don't like the "r" word but I think at the time of this interview it was commonly used, even within the name of our organization which supported housing and community services. Fortunately, the times have changed and you would never hear that now in 2022.
Knowing JFK's quick wit, and humor he would be cracking up. Too bad we can't here his lovable laughable comment. These two were a match made in heaven. They're nuts in such a kind way. This is definitely not F. Lee Baileys calling. He looks like he wants to yell for a judge to impose a longer sentence. 😄
I think the interviewer was about to choke Eunice 😂😂😂 her behavior is typical of the Kennedys, very entitled and it’s got to be their way or the highway, they think they can control everything and everyone should bow down to them because they are related to JFK.
