The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Sorry you out of towner folks, but, but you are waaaay wrong calling these Grapes, or whatever. In this case - We Chicagoans call it just plain "Ivey" here, and at Wrigley Field. When you are in Chicago, do as the Romans, I mean CHICAGOANS. IT IS IVEY !! Like when they hit a fly ball into the outfield wall, they don't say: "It's a high fly ball, it might be outta here...no, wait, it's into the GRAPES!!" 😊

Yes!! Definitely Ivy around these parts. If it were grapes at Wrigley, we'd have a purple wall from all the slamming balls. Either that or lots of homemade wine Lol. I never heard them yell "It's into the grapes" either 🤣 .... good one 😂😂😂And as for your move to AZ in the future, remember .... you can take the boy out of Chicago, but you'll never take Chicago out the boy!

When I was a child we lived nearby an Iron Age Gravesite (I live in Sweden). Every late spring a bunch of kids in the area would go there with our families and eat strawberries and ice cream. The gravestones were huge and the ground completely covered with wood anemones. It was a happy place with children playing and laughing. It felt like we were having tea time with our ancestors and I'll never forget it. I believe their souls were happy for it :)

I had an older sister who died as an infant so from a very young age my mother would take me to the cemetery to put flowers on her grave . It was a very large cemetary near the city ( Sydney) so I guess my fascination stemmed from there. It's nice just to walk sometimes and read the names and look at the beautiful stones and statues and wonder about the people and their lives. Thanks Ron, I appreciate all the effort you put in to these videos and that you share this with all of us that have the same interests.

The metal cross of the Huck mausoleum @2:38 reminds me of a German Iron cross, but it could be a coincidence because there may of not have been room to make it longer on the bottom. Nice to know that you know when to take a break from certain things for your own well being.

Ron I used to take my children to the cemetery to teach them about death and to have respect for the graves. Two of them still like to go and walk in the cemetery as they find it calming but also to look at the gravestones and if they can find out about the person buried there before they died. I still like to go walk about in the cemetery if I can.

I love Graceland so much..I have spent so many pleasant hours sitting along the waterside under the weeping willows. I remember the day I had my epiphany while looking at a tiny alabaster headstone with a carved sleeping baby on top..it simply said. ',our baby''...I thought that that loss must be the most severe loss anyone could ever face, and that the ground all around that place must be literally soaked in tears...but then I took a step to the side and saw the graves of the parents that,is why I love graveyards. It gives the big picture. Yes,there is pain in speration, but it is only brief...the baby and it's parents are together now...and will be...forever. ♥️🛐💐

Hi Ron. I am also a person who enjoys walking through a cemetery. Every tombstone has a story that goes with it. No matter the age young or old. I like to believe that someone loved that person that is named on every tombstone. When i walk in a cemetery, i feel like time comes to a stop. And it starts back up once i leave the cemetery. I am 63 years old and i couldn't imagine anyone videoing through a cemetery when i was like 10 or 12 years of age. My how time has changed huh !?!? Take care and God bless Ron. ❤🙏

Oh thank you so much for this Video Rom. I've been busy all day and finally got to it. My 4th great uncle is buried in Graceland Cemetery. He is buried in the Kinzie Plot. My 4th great uncle was Alexander Wolcott III he was married to John Kinzie's daughter Ellen Marian Kinzie. He was the 1st private physician to set up a practice in Chicago. President James Monroe appointed him Indian Agent at Fort Dearborn. He lived across from Fort Dearborn in the Agency House next to the Kinzie's family home..They called Alexander's house "Cobweb Castle" due to him being a bachelor at the time, he lacked housekeeping skills. That's how his home became known "Cobweb Castle😁 ..His grave is directly in front of John Kinzie's grave. Next to Alexander Wolcott would be 2 of his sons buried next to him. Again thank you so much for this great walk through Graceland Cemetery..Merry Christmas to you and your family Ron, and a safe one 🎄😊

I understand how you feel Ron. I was a memorial councilor for several years and because the older councilors were beyond childbearing years, they thought that I, being a young mother, would be better suited to address all the baby and young people burials. It got to be extremely stressful for me. After the family were finished making arrangements and left, I cried for them and their losses. After a few years of this, I asked to be transferred to making arrangements for older people, which was not granted, so I had to quit. Do yourself a favor and take a break if you need to. We will all understand. It's always such a peaceful walk through the cemetery with you narrating. God Bless, Ron.

Cities in the 1800s, early 1900s were crowded. Green space was at a premium. People worked six days a week. On Sundays, hundreds of them went to the cemeteries to have picnics and let their kids play. It was “the place” to go. The first public park system was established in the City of Milwaukee, according to a documentary on their history. The idea caught on like wildfire and inspired federal parks such as Yellowstone.

(Bet you thought I was going to say ' Good - day??!), My cousin Ruggerio, (Whom was a monumental mason), asserted that Quartz is the most durable stone! it' s stable at earth surface, and is not porous! Granite is commendable but it depends on it's grade. Bronze would be the only singular alternative. When, as a child in Venice:My Grand Mother Annabella frequently journeyed with me to the Isola di San Michele CemeterioDeath was not regarded a, Taboo like in Pommieland!!, it was a locale to become acquainted with one's own mortality as well as loved ones'predeceased!! it was therapeutic, not fear-filling! I understand what you mean by needing a break from the grim, sad stories. It’s good to intersperse with lighter stories sometimes too! I follow a lot of true crime - past & present , and your cemetery channel etc. Sometimes I need to return to more cheerful pursuits. Merry Christmas Ron & all! 🎄❄️🎄❄️🎄❄️

@@pippadot679 That name came about bc I was listening to Beatles Let It Be one day & got inspired to use it. Summer I used, bc I love that season. Together I didn’t intend that meaning, but it sounds nice! As a true crime follower, you might know how the name irked me this past summer. Gabby Petito had a tatoo ‘Let It Be’ on her body & Summer Wells is another case I follow. Real name is Lauren, so folks here can use that too!

I wrote this for your stories today Ron. Here we are, all at rest alone Under the turf, in our forever home Some by illness, accident or disaster All gone off to meet our Master Most of us bearing a marble crown upon our head To remind one, that in time, they too will be dead Some of our crowns shinning, some rotten But rest at ease - it doesn't matter, in time, we'll all be forgotten Safe travels. Merry Christmas

I've loved walking around in old cemeteries since I was in my young teens, I'd go with my mom and grandmother. I look at the gravestones and wonder about the lives they had and all the history with them. Some cemeteries are fascinating to see. A lot of times when I'm having a bad day, I will go to the cemetery and walk around. It's a peaceful place for me to go when I just need time to myself to think. I enjoyed seeing all the gravestones and monuments in this cemetery Ron, great video. 👍🙂 Stay safe out there Ron. 🙂💖

Its too bad vandals can't be tracked down & given option of using their boredom & energy to clean up cemetery & restore stones . a few cameras & use of a judge , court system during the evening when vandals are busy anyway ( like night court ) .it may teach them they wouldn't want that to happen to the grave of some one they love .it's impossible to be depressed & grateful at same time. Its impossible to be Bored & constructive @ same time !

Yes, I talked about it during my live stream there several months ago. I think that statue was made as a marketing piece by the sculptor back in the day, not sure if there’s somebody really there

Hey, I love your channel but can you do me a favor? Can you try to do a segment on the Plutonium plant cover up that killed Karen Silkwood by Kerr/Magee, in Crescent, Oklahoma? I don't want her forgotten and nobody was ever held accountable for her death or contaminating her. Thank you.

I never knew there were such things as buried mausoleums or crypts that required air vents. I learn something new at each segment I watch. So sad that some of those markers are so badly damaged and unreadable. They are truly The Forgotten. :( I guess the cemetery keeps records of who is where, but still...
