The walled garden cuckoo clock was fantastic to see. As a kid we would often play deeper in the woods in the “lions den”. Fantastic memories of growing up in Woolton in the 50s & 60s
Have you seen woolton baths lately? Some kind resident has painted the doors to match the grapes pub and restored the window frames paining them white rather than the ghastly council blue. They’ve also painted the chipped one way pole signs in old fashioned black and white stripe. Looks great. Like Abbey Road.
Thanks for posting, brought back lots of great memories, lived in Woolton in the 60’s s often played in the woods as a kid, then joined Liverpool Harriers, they had a big hut on the edge of the woods so we ran all around there and across to Clark’s Gardens.
It's funny to see all these folk and animals wandering about . Back in the sixties and seventies , no one exercises or did much dog walking . I walked through the woods from Church Road South to Hillfoot Hey Grammar and quite often saw nobody .
It was nice to see the woods once again, spent many happy hours in the woods as a kid. Do you remember the Lions Den, an area surrounded by quite high sand stone, I’ll bet it’s gone now, in case of injury falling off the top. The two ponds (now only one) worth a visit when the formal pond had gold fish in it. And yes I remember the clock working in the walled garden.
