Edwin Waugh was a famous 19th-century Lancashire dialect poet. Born in Rochdale in 1817, by the 1860s, he was a full-time writer and being classed as The Lancashire Burns.
On the Moors above Waterfoot, in the Rossendale area, is Waugh's Well. A commemorative construction where Edwin would often find himself, and built in 1866 at the height of his fame.
Though Edwin is often forgotten amongst other famous names, alongside the well, there are other tributes to him across Lancashire.
