This is quite literally my back garden. My house backs onto the woodland at the bottom. I've lost count of how many times I've been up there, including today lol.
Cheers Bob! Yeah I do like that power station, and it was a good chance to show off my 80x zoom hah. Although on windy days like this I should have used a tripod! ...Well my next video should be online any minute now....which is all about a nice day outdoors, walking about, and chilling out in my favourite nearby woodland spot.
Thanks Mark! The wind nearly blew us off the top, but the views were good. Just got to ignore the industrial estate to the left of the quarry....I intentionally only left a glimpse of that in! ...Atb, Donny.
Nice video.Just up the road is Whitwick quarry which you can get in (being careful obviously) through the many holes in the fence, and that one is all but done and dusted now,and filled with water.Looks like a mini Grand Canyon.
Cheers Mick. Yeah it's a strange hill, compared to nearby Beacon Hill & Bradgate Park, which are extremely popular, with car parks and facilities etc. Although this is the highest point in the county, it's not advertised at all. Just had to park in a housing development and find the way up via normal public footpaths. The last section to the top was just a narrow path to a small area, like you said. They've quarried right up close to the summit! Cheers...Donny.
Hey there. Here's how we got there... We parked at 'Vercor Close, Coalville'. Type that in Google Maps, and you'll see from this street you just need to head southwards (through an alley on that street), through a couple fields, and up the hill. If you go to Streetmap.co.uk this shows public footpaths (set the zoom to the 3rd bar up), which can help you find your way. Hope this helps! ...Donny.
If it keeps raining that quarry could end up a lake sooner than you think. lol It would be really great for the local wildlife in that area if they did turn it into a lake when they were finished with it. Atb Glenn.
