Hi Michael, it's a given that we all go through the various phases. It's part of the journey and the hobby would be boring without it. I don't remember if you've owned a Daytona before but that would be my guess. I had a two tone with a black dial but decided it didn't fit my personality, so I traded it for a SS white dial and much happier with that. Regardless, glad you found something you enjoy. Cheers! John
Batgirl 👍 I’ve always been team oyster but when I recently tried on both oysters and jubilee Batman the jubilee looked better on my wrist so I’m now converted.
I’ve watched a few of your videos, and it has helped me decide on my next watch purchase. I’ve just sold a few watches including a black bay 58 and now I’m looking at a no date 114060.
After hearing you say that the VC overseas looks like a watch when the bezel of popped off of it , I just can’t unsee it now . I’ve always loved the overseas but always felt like something is a bit off in the looks department and couldn’t quite put my finger on it . Thanks for absolutely ruining that watch for me now :)
I really agree with you about not wearing your Rolex everywhere. I have a GMT BLNR and have been looking for a "low key" companion and nothing is hitting. I recently had some heart issues and the cardiologist recommended an Apple Watch, which I bought and wear for the metrics 50-60% of the time but I also like how low key it is for when you don't want to make an impression.
Hi Micheal, Congratulations on your new purchase! Could it be a sea dweller 43mm red ? I believe you had one in the past or a 1908 ? I’m looking forward to your reveal. Enjoy your vacation with the family!
The reason there was green writing on the dial and the GMT hand on the Rolex 116710LN was because it was the first GMT and first Sports Rolex to have the ceramic bezel insert. Rolex includes green details on some of its watches, particularly on anniversary models or inaugural watches. The 116710LN GMT Master 2, the Milgauss with the green tinted sapphire crystal, the original Kermit are a few examples. Rolex is also closely associated with power and success, and green also symbolises the colour of money.
Dear Michael, carpet seller is a totally honourable profession, it´s the carpet cleaners that one should be careful with. But then I totally get what you meant by that.
It is. Used car salesman is also an honourable profession, as well as real estate agent - in fact t anything that puts food on the table. However they have stigmas attached which some refer to in a tongue in cheek manner. Thanks.
Cheers Michael, new subscriber here. I think this watch is a solid gold day date. I’m looking to buy either a 14060 sub or 16600 sea dweller. I’d love to know which you prefer? Thanks
My guess is you got a two-tone Daytona. Something more dressy than the usual steel sports and a sort of half-way stop to a full gold watch which is still too much for you to be comfortable wearing.
Think it’s interesting.emotional attachment think it just leads to over thinking and looking for something that just isn’t there . I got out of the obsessive stage probably over a two year period . For the last year have had absolutely zero interest in watches with exception of being a tool that tells the time . Don’t wear a watch for anything else . Sold my collection of 15 over time did hold onto 6 Rolex didn’t want to sell everything just never really got round to selling them , don’t really need the cash so it’s a case of I stick a watch on never think about it or look at it unless I’m checking the time . Could easily be a batch of citizen or seiko don’t care in the slightest.
I see everyone is guessing what you bought, so ill join. You said it’s something youve never had and u also made comments about yacht master so im ruling that out. I also dont see you saying an explorer 1 is a watch to wear sparingly as special. Im going batman.
Mike you swarthy stud. The truth is mate, your watch journey will never be over. You’ll never be satisfied with your current collection (for long). And that’s ok. I personally think your perfect one watch is a 5 digit sub date (black bezel), “M serial”. You could also easily pull off the new 12 series Subs, but I know you don’t like ceramics. But the glidelock is godly. Also check out Cheyme Walls recent vids on stress testing the Submariner and Explorer 2. These new movements are very durable. That Panerai is your mistress. A filthy piece on the side. Ditch it, and go back to your wife. The real deal. The Submariner Date.
