I got into detail about my recent watch purge and what I have selected as ‘The One’ at least for now. Why I like this watch and my plans behind maximising the joy with it.
I've owned my Batgirl now for 3 years - what I have called the Bruce Wayne for many years because it's the dressed up version of the Batman - and can tell you it is the ultimate steel sports Rolex. I'm not a Rolex guy and will likely not own any other Rolex than this. It's simply a perfect watch. Congratulations and love the depth with which you analyze watches, your collection and collecting in general! 👍
@@justinr9245 Having owned a 15202ST, comparing the Batgirl to the 15202 is really impossible. Although both steel sports watches they are dramatically different. The 15202 is much more refined, it's case and bracelet metal is softer, sits much flatter and thinner on wrist and the presence - despite it being lighter than the batgirl - is far beyond that of the of the batgirl. I love both but for distinct reasons. The GMT because it is so easy to wear with anything and the 15202 because it is so refined and gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling when on wrist
I love the black/blue combination, but always thought that I would like it on an oyster bracelet. The jubilee looks good! I have a sub and now feel drawn to a GMT with a jubilee just to have something different feeling on the wrist.
Personally, if I had this budget to spend on a watch I would get the following 3 watches: 1. Panerai Luminor Marina 42mm Black Dial > for casual occasions. 2. IWC Mark XX Blue Dial > for business smart occasions. 3. Junghans Max Bill 38mm Gold Case > for formal occasions.
Although I'm not the biggest jubilee fan, this combo does look sleek! And I'm glad you clarified that the 233 is still lurking around, I had a genuine "oh no" moment when I read the title of the video! Enjoy it in the best of health Michael.🙏
Love the video and great thoughts on collecting. At a point in our collecting journey we get back to what we really need not what we want. We achieve a great balance between them.
Great pick. Love the jubilee and stainless. Two tone too flashy for a proper tool watch. You can wear this piece at work and play. I settled on a 2005 Seadweller 11660 in basically new condition. Only downside, I don’t have the new and more accurate movement. But, +3s/d I can live with. Congratulations on your purchase, and we will see if one is enough for the Steelmoon.
Nice one, your Batgirl look mint. Interesting observation on the Pepsi and red too. I know what you mean; there is something fatiguing about it. I don't think I would have ever solved it unless you said it.
After wrapping up major home improvements this year, I’m nearing a purchase…my fourth independent, this time from Laurent Ferrier. Blue is my favorite color too, so I’m between two references.
Fantastic video! I enjoyed the part with the nail polish! Funny but perfect analogy! 😂 the Batgirl suits you perfectly! Blue is a cool colour and Mr Steelmoon always goes through life cool. 💪
Lovely choice Michael. And very interesting observation about the pepsi that could only have come from experience. Only point i would make is PCLs are fine - 5 yrs of wear on my rootbeer and still looks great
I'm contemplating selling my 14060m for the latest speedmaster 3861. Like you I feel the no date 14060m is perfect for me, but I have been getting a bit bored with it. Ever think about a speedmaster?
Enexpected. But nice choice. The Panerai may need to go, its too bulbous. Try the Bucherer blue Radiomir, very slim, with the micro-rotor, very cool. And I think you need a 4 or 5 digit sub - a good moment to buy one and to round out the collection with a daily beater.
Good morning Michael, Love the new watch. Very elegant. I just wanted to ask you your opinion of the GP Laureato, after having watched your video of it a few weeks ago? Is it still one of your favourite watches? I’m considering a purchase. GP or Grand Seiko? Any opinion?
PERFECT wrist watch. SUPERB fit. It stands out in a very masculine manner. Looks class. Very handsome on you. There is good reason this watch is so incredibly desired.
I'm jealous. Been on a waiting list for the batman on oyster for about six months. I have no problems waiting for as long as it takes to get it because I don't want to pay over retail. But i'm very happy for you and hope you enjoy it.
Michael, awesome video as always. Enjoyed the commentary. When you mentioned disconnecting all I could think about was “he’s probably wearing the Apple Watch less and less”
Excellent choice and love the detailed reasoning! I’ve recently moved to Dubai with the family and was wondering where is the best place to sell an unworn GP Laureato? I’m not yet familiar with any reputable buy/sell groups. Cheers, Neil.
I’ve always loved your channel and style. Our watch journeys are strikingly similar-I’ve owned and traded Subs, Pepsis, the Bluesy, and Rootbeer. Late last year, I too felt my day-to-day passion for watch channels and forums waning, so I decided to settle on one watch that could do it all. I chose the Batgirl, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s become a watch full of memories and meaning for me. Ironically, the Bluesy was my runner-up as well-who knows, maybe someday I’ll add that one, but the Batgirl is here to stay. Enjoy your Batgirl and wear it in good health!
This channel and “uptickwatchreviews” are my favourite watch channels. I’m completely the same, I pretty much only buy black dial watches (maybe a white dial if I’m feeling exotic) because anything too out there I get tired of. I daily a Speedy and it just never dates, its always relevant. I like the classics, Subs & Speedys. Same for cars too, basic 911s, Lotus Elise, Caterham 7 and Land cruises. Came for the watches, stayed for the collectors mindset!
All the best from Scotland Michael, great choice! Love the ‘Wife section’ on your vid 😂 I always look forward to your posts, I bought the Rolex 124273 two tone Explorer as I have plenty of 42mm divers and I LOVE it! Good health
Did you consider a DD40? It seems to check all the boxes you express - different, masculine, slightly flashier but still stealth, legible, etc. Approx same price as the Smurf you contemplated.
I hear you. I’m 48 and only felt the draw towards a DD for the first time this year. Subscribed. Like what I see of your vids so far. Keep up the great work.
I definitely called it! I have the BLNR on oyster and it's amazing to me. Coming from a 12 series sub the first thing I noticed was how much more comfortable it was and the numerals and pop of color have kept it interesting even after six months. I didn't want to admit this to myself when I had the Sub but man did it get boring after a few months. Have you considered getting the oyster bracelet separately and brushing it so you have two watches basically? I'm gunning for the jubilee bracelet to change things up myself.
The BLNR on Jubilee is also my collection favorite. I'm getting the Bruce Wayne on Oyster this week from the AD, curious to experience how they compare in look and feel. Enjoy your BLNR journey in good health Michael.
I have the exact same watch and absolutely love it. I have always had the plan to move into a Daytona or DayDate but after wearing this for a few months, not sure I want anything else.
I think the batgirl is an amazing one watch. I had the black sub date for a while and it got a little boring after a while so the pop of blue color on yours fixes that!
Love this analysis. I think my Batgirl spoiled me for other watches. I agree that it’s a more comfortable, versatile and technological version of the Submariner Date.
Honestly, I would like for you to try the new Explorer 2 in black dial and comment about it. It's the last Rolex tool watch and stealth flex. Love your videos talking about your watch journey. I can relate to most of your experiences. Thanks.
Nice video, and you made a great choice going with the Batgirl! I was considering that for my next piece, but I finally decided to go with the Yacht-Master 126622 instead.
Very nice watch. I have been looking for one of these however the wait is very long. Were you able to find it at a dealer or used? Congratulations and enjoy!!
Nice pick up! I like the batman more than the pepsi imo love blue so good choice. Also agree with steel bezel daytona. My pick would be the 116509 blue dial but too much $$ 😂
Michael, you should offer a charged service of in depth analysis of what a person may want as a next watch and why. I don't think I give as much thought even when I buy a car.
Congratulations on your acquisition! Any reason why the Starbucks (either MK1/2) was not a choice? I also have to agree with your comments regarding the Pepsi. As a 126710BLRO owner, every time I look down to check the time, I look at my wrist and say "damn that's flashy and beautiful" then put my wrist down and I have already forgotten what time it is LOL.
Congratulations on your new piece! It looks terrific. Curious to know your take on the jubilee bracelet vs the oyster bracelet, since I think this is your first watch with jubilee? I, among others, eagerly await the upcoming reveal of your YM 😂
I’ve been enjoying it. Enough to feel like I have a change and something more fancy. I was considering a jubilee for the 16710 anyway and with the cost, the BLNR made more sense
MS. T4YC: I am hearing this all the time now. My watch group, or should I say, the people in my watch group who like Rolexes, are all thinning their collections. Generally they're going for an upmarket precious metal watches. OR the classic PP, ALS, or VC route. But absolutely not JLC. As Dylan said, "the times, they are a changing"! (I am not that old BTW)
This watch took me by surprise. Did you consider the new gmt black/grey variant? this looks great on you though. agree on the pepsi thoughts - ive wanted a batman for a long time but the jubilee does look swanky
How does your new watch feel on the wrist? I’ve tried it on, but never had a true experience with it (wearing it for any length of time). I feel it’s reminiscent of the 11 digit series submariners
The reason they mellowed the red color on the newest Pepsi could be the experience you had with. It would be good to know if you would have the same experience with the new Pepsi. Congrats on the bad girl.
Why back to ceramic mate? Just curiosity since I thought those days are gone. Modern ones are not my cup of tea, mainly proportions and lost of charme, although if I would buy one batgirl or yachtmaster titanium, most likely.
Agree, hard to find good shape from that era. Definitely easier with most recent models. I finally found 16610 perfect conditions after 2 years research but had to acknowledge mistakes on the way due to lack of experience. Appreciate you mate don't shy away from different perspectives. Wish the best with it!
Congratulations! I would have never guessed. I like the frame of mind you are in. Enjoy it in good health! Micheal the new 126500 LN Daytonas lugs are now evenly proportioned and wear larger as well and you are right about the black dial being the best choice. The panda is just not as bad ass as the black dial. Enjoy the rest of your day or evening should I say out in Dubai.
Bat girl would be my choice as well. I owned one years ago and sold it and regretted it ever since I have a Pepsi and find it too flashy. I am a blue person like you as well I love Dubai, wish I made the move long ago. Enjoy
