Hi Chloe! I never really comment, but I really wanted to give you some feedback. First, I think your channel is amazing. Your knowledge about product in other videos is on point, and your content is very visually enjoyable to watch. I'm a PM at a medium sized startup in NYC, so it's always interesting to see how other PMs navigate their roles. The video started off great, but I noticed you work quite late (10pm / 11pm on more than 1 night in this week shown). You mentioned WLB + the need to care for your mental, physical, and spiritual health in this video, which is great. But it's also a sign that you're aware your own work hours are intense... Those work hours aren't healthy or sustainable for any person, including talented and hardworking people like yourself. It'll lead to burnout, which I worry about for you. Working that late should be a VERY once in a blue moon event, and if this is a normal snapshot of your work week, that's really troubling to me. There's hidden implications to showing this on your channel. Your audience includes people who are aspiring to break into tech or become a PM, which is awesome. However, the message working late sends ultimately glorifies the toxic side of productivity / hustle culture. I would have loved to see you open up and talk about what made that day in your week challenging. As BIPOC women in tech, we all have stories of discrimination, and sharing our stories can open up powerful dialogues and help people. Real big fan of your content, love your work, and wanted to drop some food for thought ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! I defintely talk a lot about these on my Twitch streams in my coworking sessions. I work for a company based in China, so my hours are real bonkers. I talk about toxic productivity and my relationship with it mostly on stream since people are working together with me. I've been planning on sharing this out more formally on RU-vid - just trying to muster the courage to share these tough experiences. Thanks for taking the time to write this out!

Chloe I am starting my career in PM and I will be relocating to the Bay Area in two weeks. I found this video so relatable. There can be so many hardships for an Asian woman in product. I am so happy to see that you have a group of friends and mentors to lean on. You have such a positive and warm energy. I would love to meet you one day!!

And yes there are so many challenges… I can’t even keep track of the number of times I’ve cried or been really microaggressed before. Keeping a strong support system gets me thru it all. Beautiful compilation of your day. On a side note, I would love to see a playlist dedicated to your filmmaking and editing process. As I am also a BIPOC women in Product (from NYC but was also working from Hawaii), I love your videos and hearing you speak about important issues that don't get discussed enough, especially issues with leadership as a WOC. Although I am sorry you went through that, I would love to hear how you have coped under pressure and still managed to be a high performer despite toxic environments and what you would recommend for other women just starting in the tech field. Also as a suggestion/observation, I would recommend perhaps choosing a company based in the US for better work-life balance. Also, I loved the scene of you showing how you have a support network and buffer system for tech-related stress and your mentorship. You're an inspiration, you deserve to be valued, heard, and compensated for the work you put out but not at the expense of your peace and sanity. I hope to meet you one day when in SF!

Hi Quiana! Oh wow - like how I film and edit my videos? I'm hoenstly very much exploring this myself haha, but am happy to share once I solidify my style. :) RE: WOC issuse - I totally agree. I don't think I see enough concrete stories out there. I normally hear them in 1:1s or private friend conversations, but it's just challenging to speak up about them publicly. I'm glad you appreciate those videos! I'll definitely be sharing my learnings on this channel too. :) Thank you so much for your words of support, Quiana ~ Wishing you all the best as well!

Hey Chloe, thanks so much for sharing your story here in RU-vid. I'm starting my first PM job in a month and it will be my first time working here in the US as well. So, I'm both excited and scared but thanks to your videos I sort of know what to expect. I might not be able to understand the struggles of being an Asian women but I do get you in terms of the discrimination towards Asians especially towards international students or new immigrants like me. Just wanted to say, thank you and all the best!

Oh by the way, those working hours are intense! Are they normal in the Bay Area? I hope that's not normal and things will improve soon. In my previous role, I was working up to 12 midnight on most days. As I reflected back, it's definitely not healthy as I saw myself burnt out within my 6 months. I really had to assert myself and voice out my concerns with my manager, and thankfully for me, it went much better after that conversation. I still had 11pm calls but probably once a week only. Hope you could shed more light in terms of your working hours there at TikTok.

How do you plan your time so that youtube filming, interview preping, spending time with friends and other life stuff are all covered but also not spreading yourself too thin in all of them.
