Just so you know, you can make different versions of ‘papaya’ salad. It doesn’t have to be used with green papaya. You can make it with noodles, cucumbers, green beans, green mangoes, I’ve even made it with cabbage as well.
@logaagm
@logaagm Год назад
Oh wait this is actually so helpful imma try
@THAIlism

I second this! No need to be green papayas. You can also make it with corn. I assure you it’s BOMB.

Yess! You can make diff version of papaya salad ! The one made with vermicelli rice noodles is my fav! Look up lao style papaya salads !

I like to use cucumbers or vermicelli noodles with shredded carrots. I'm not into papaya 😂 BUT you can find green papayas in Asian markets/stores
@thanitwin

It can be fruits. Green apple is a good candidate. Mixed fruits, tomato and corn are commonly found in Thai Fruit Somtam. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--2KYhrIt4e8.htmlsi=lojeGx5Xc1ODprgV

Hey from someone who has some expeirence making singaporean chicken and hainanese chicken heres a few tips (if you want!): Try cooking chicken at the barest lowest simmer you can, too hot destroys the meat and skin texture. Longer is better in my opinion, and if you can find it try getting a kufei chicken (can usually find that in ranch 99 or some chinese grocery stores) Shock chicken in cold ice water right after making chicken. This tightens the skin and makes it super chewy/satisfying. Also makes sure you dont overcook the meat.
@babylon_nokia

I really really recommend you try Vietnamese braised pork belly (aka caramelized pork), it's super savory and goes so well with white rice. There are different variations of if like caramelized pork with tofu or eggs. Hope you'll give it a try

This looks so fun and exciting and serene all together, I've never seen food being put into such a beautiful context- or even having a good relationship with food this way. And your cooking vidoes are so wonderful it gives me the burgeoning urge to attempt making those cultural cuisines. Side note: i always wanted to try south east asian food (im only familiar with Chinese food, as its sticky rice and dishes of soupy chicken varieties) and visit countries with cultural history.

For the pad thai, maybe you didn't put enough soy sauce or didn't put it at all since soy sauce can determine it's color. And some pad Thai recipes also put chili sauce for extra soft kick.
