Join our system as we blog our week. This is what it's like for us to live with DID and other mental illness. We also get a bit into navigating relationships as a system. There's some insight into our switches and how we function as a system.
We are not medical professionals. Everything we discuss is based on our own experience and research. Not every system is going to experience DID the way we do.
Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) - disruption of identity characterized by two or more distinct personality states AND recurrent gaps in the recall of everyday events, important personal information, and/or traumatic events inconsistent with ordinary forgetting. symptoms are not a result of accepted cultural or religious practices, or the use of substances.
Alter - distinct personality state in DID. Alters can have different personalities, beliefs, and tastes from one another.

old video, but Shell's struggle with friendships and triggering abandonment, our host is going through a similar struggle. the trigger feeling a little overblown but still hurting, feeling like you put in more than you get even when you know your friends aren't going out of their way to neglect you, it sucks so bad. especially when you're someone like me& (and probably you guys too) where you can only manage to make very few but very close bonds. when those few bonds fall through on our emotional needs, it can feel so catastrophic... then just add on the further tangent about feeling like we present our health conditions too well to get the help we desperately need!! wow, so relatable!!

This was such a great video to watch, and so validating to see another system exist *as a system* like this. Thank you for putting yourself out there!

27:33 This discussion especially was so impactful for me-we really resonate with this. Relationships are hard.

7:49 If the relationship is being carried by you guys alone then it probably better( in my opinion) to cut those people out of your life and find people who will put in that same effort.

We feel that with the friends reaching out for us so much. Recently we lost friendships. We were always there for them but when I needed them the went away. 😢

Oh and we think switching doesn't tire us out at all. Too long in the body does so we switch quite often.

I do understanding having to hide who you are. Please know, you never have to do that with me! I love and respect each of you for who you are and your perspectives on things. I wish my own issues allowed me to reach out to others, even just to check in. Thank you for sharing your week in the life.
