Not sure why you felt the need to address this but I'm sure that if not you, God has a good reason for it. Like it or not, it's right there in our Bibles. Your humility and diplomacy always amaze me when you deal with touchy subjects like this. It is another gift that you have that you probably haven't thought that much about. Thank you.
His final commentary on this video, at the 10:10 minute mark, might answer the first sentence of your comment, as to why he (David Guzik) recorded this video: out of his (Pr. Guzik’s) fear of the Lord, for his hearers and subsequent users of his materials, whether he agrees or not: he intends his teachings be a blessing the to the body of Christ at large, but if a woman decides she is going to use, it is at her own decision, with the aid of the Holy Spirit. A Pastor’s wife, richly blessed by this wonderful teaching, and in prayer for pastor Guzik and his wonderful wife, neither of which I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, but hope to meet in eternity 🥰🙏🏼
I am so glad you addressed this issue. I have been stressing this for many years. You have explained this so clearly and according to God’s word not your opinion. I’m so happy that a sister in Christ gave me your website. You have been a blessing to me!
This was not a scripture-based explanation. Who was the first to preach the gospel, i.e., Jesus' Resurrection? A woman! The men (disciples) didn't believe. If Jesus could reveal Himself to a woman and have her to go and tell others, why can't accept the fact that the Bible does not say woman cannot lead a church. Saying women preachers does not align with God's order is like saying donkeys cannot talk.
@@elstonsteele1266 Going to tell the disciples that Christ is alive, that His body wasn’t in the tomb anymore is NOT preaching. It was relaying a message and nothing more. Christ had females that followed and supported His ministry but He appointed no female disciples and there were no female apostles. Why can’t YOU accept the fact that the Bible does forbid female leadership, pastoring, preaching, etc.,. Letters to Timothy are quite explicit about this, and these are confirmed also in Paul’s letter to Titus. Elders, pastors, etc., are male only callings because the requirements included being the HUSBAND of one WIFE! Thats just the requirements. When you get into the actual job, women are not allowed because they are commanded to be SILENT! Too, they are forbidden from teaching, forbidden from exercising authority over men-something that would have to happen to preach (and teach)! Get the feminism out of your eyes and take a second look at the Bible and you may actually see the truth!
I'm praying that women will be humble enough and loving the Lord enough to respect and love the role the Lord has given to us, and to obey what Word of the Lord clearly teaches! Thank you David Guzik for not compromising the Word of God and teaching what it says and being gentle at the same time. I pray God helps us all stay awake and true to His Word as we watch a world full of compromise taking place.
What comes to mind when you talked today was Deborah, even though she was a judge, when the king asked her to go to battle with him, she told him, " there will be no glory in it for you that a woman won the battle " as we know God ultimately won that, but the fact that the weaker vessel was leader.... And I also think of the proverbs 31 woman, in her rightful place, not the misconception of her being so self sufficient and lack of submission... God bless you for standing firm👑❤🌹
His word will not return void. Thank you pastor Dave for speaking the truth in love. Like Apollos, are we willing to be teachable or are we stubborn in our ways because it "feels" right. Time and again we must ask ourselves: What does the Bible say?
I have lived through an episcopal charismatic denomination that allowed women to lead churches, and more. It meant wives had equal status ( and more) as they pastor together. The rules changed in the Vineyard because of culture as opposed to anything scripture was saying, or because of of exceptions such as the persecuted churches. I think after thirty years pastoring and seeing in actuality how this has worked out - you are absolutely right - it’s brought a great deal of harm, both to the women and those under them. It is as you say harmful to the Body of Christ. I have seen the hard way that scripture is true and I think you’ve stated the case really well for what scripture is saying in a loving and compassionate way.
Amen. Just yesterday, a bible app went against God by calling Mary Magdalene an 'Apostle' in her own right. And this message from Guzik is a wonderful confirmation from God on His will and Word. Praise God.
Thanks, David for repeating the truth of God's word, and confirming we cannot replicate God's plan with our worldly system it would not work and I have been a witness to it crashing down and I know now not to be in a congregation where a woman leads except under exceptional circumstances, and also developed spiritual discernment for well equipped ordained men of God
David, I have so much respect for you. Your biblical commentary is a favorite of mine. This was so very well done, I felt like I was talking to a fatherly figure about a sensitive issue. Thank you for this video. I am preparing to enter pastoral ministry, but it is as you said- we (both you and I) just want to be faithful to Him and it is He alone whom we will each answer to. This is a calling that I have ignored for years because of this issue, but I cannot deny that it is the direction that I believe He is taking me, and I just want to be faithful to Him, that is truly all that I want. He has made me for a Shepherdess calling, and how He uses it is up to Him. I And I know that I know, that He is faithful to lead us into all truth, with grace and over time, if we follow Him as our Shepherd. I trust Him. Thank you for being faithful, Brother in Christ. This ministered to me. May God bless you.
Same here, I was fighting God and I was getting no where. Wherever I go, the obedience message always there. So, I will leave it with God. It's between me and Him.
Blessings pastor David thank you for your great work and dedication to work of the lord I greet you in Love . Blessings women of God , in these last days rise up and preach the gospel, as long as your under the leadership/Authority of a Male pastor / senior leadership . How to show that you are under Authority . is to cover your head when your in the pulpit, preaching and whenever your out witnessing or praying , Men cannot do it alone , the pastors cannot do it alone , the bishop cannot do it alone, every born again child of GOd need to rise up and preach , every believer is a preacher , not a pastor or a bishop , but a preacher God bless you . “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:” Joel 2:28 KJV
Good word Pastor David! I appreciate your balance on this issue, and at the same time remain committed to God's word. May our Lord continue to bless you and your ministry that is a blessing to so many.
As it is in the family so shall it be in the church because church is an extention of the family. As it was in the beginning. I can say this, my wife loves the Lord with all her heart, soul and strength and she teaches me every day that God knew exactly what he was doing when he brought her to me. My cup runneth over!
truth seasoned with grace. respectfully done. 1 tim 5:1-2 Guidelines for Reproof Do not rebuke an older man, but appeal to him as to a father. Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.
Well said David I often hear: It was cultural at the time of Paul. It is cultural, but the only thing cultural about it, is the culture of the world creeping into the body. I often reply to those who take this viewpoint: If it was cultural, why then is Paul quoting and making reference to the deception in the garden. Anything given in the garden is foundational not cultural. Are we not seeing an outright assault on this in our culture (society) right now? And God created them Male & Female
I am a missionary and often teach at women's meetings and Bible studies. I have a question, "Why are the women so actively attending the meetings, while men's meetings are so few in number? Where are those warriors and leaders?" I do sometimes teach in church, but often feel like being God's plan "B". I don't think God will make me accountable for teaching in church, or will He? If God could speak through a donkey, He can sometimes use a woman. I am not a pastor (God forbid!), but I don't want to watch people going to hell and keep silent, only because I am a woman.. And I do use and enjoy your Bible commentaries, Pastor.
Beloved Sister thank you for your service as a missionary, I know it must be tempting to take charge but just because the men are being lazy and not showing up does not give the right to bypass what scripture teaches , I will be praying you get a biblical pastor soon sister love you God bless
You are absolutely not Gods “Plan B”! God uses the meek, the humble, he uses the most unlikely people and circumstances to show His glory! Never hold back from guiding and Leading others to Christ because of your gender. Pastoring someone to Gods glory is not a gender specific roll. I see a lot of talk here on this chat and not much scripture to back it up.
@@Repent.Believe.obeyJesus Dear Brother, it is not tempting at all! I do respect men's leadership and would rather listen to a good sermon preached by men than do it myself. My question is, "Where are those men?" 80% of missionaries are women! Luke 19:40 "I tell you", he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out!"
@@Repent.Believe.obeyJesus Amen. There is a serious lack of men interested in the Lord, let alone lead but God gave us a special gift to pray. And we can pray and read scripture together. We are in end times and these things are happening but in no way do we disobey God in desperation. God is in charge always. His will is being fulfilled. he doesn't need us to fulfill His promise but we need Him. And we love Him by keeping His commands.
@@leahmichelle473 My sisters, you refuse scripture. This is and never will be about your glory. It's about Jesus. And if we can't obey His Word, then you're serving your own lusts. Jesus, is King and He doesn't need us to fulfill anything. He only needs us to be obedient and love His Word. If you're going against it due to pride, are you fulfilling His will for you? Jesus has already won the battle. We can share His gospel to everyone. Nothing stops us women from doing this. He wants us to plant seeds, so that He can water them. This can be everyone. But to lead a congregation? Why do you feel the need to go against His will? Pray and help the sick. Feed the orphaned and the homeless. Read scripture to the elderly and give them your ear. Pray and sing and worship with the children. I can go on and on of all the ways we as women and bare in mind many brothers who aren't leaders, can serve our Lord. You're not proving anything to us but you're just proving to God that His Word and will matters not, just like Eve. Do not go down that path of destruction and come back to the Father's will.
Thank you for addressing this issue. If we use the bible we cannot go wrong. This is explained in a clear understandable and relatable way. I also like the fact that he doesn't attack or condemn women pastors, but deals with this tastefully and tactfully.
The law kills but the Spirit gives life, I pray that God the Holy Spirit will give you great revelations on this matter and this time. May God make fruitful your understanding and wisdom as you continue to teach his word. May God be your great teacher so that you do not grieve the Holy Spirit unintentionally. 🙏🏽🇿🇦
I really appreciate your help: council for the persecuted Church - parts! There are normal times - and other times. Sometimes men are not there to help, keep, maintain and to give cover... To judge something by the biblical standard, especially the New Testament standard, is not to condemn sy. We should understand that. We, believers are not under the Law or condemnation. On the other hand, we must keep the apostolic authority, the Word's authority, even if our lives are touched by it. Thank you for your humbleness in this subject.
10:33 This has become such a divisive topic in the Body of Christ. Thank you for your commentary. You give a very sound but simple explanation which boils down to “what does the Bible say?” Based on the Bible I don’t believe women should be in leadership positions in the church. My husband and I left a church that is full of female elders and pastors. I have had my own not so good experience with some of them but having come to a clearer understanding of God’s Word for myself I no longer believe it’s biblical.
I watched this video weeks ago and have thought about your comments. As a former pastor’s wife I had been in the inner circle for years. I was a missionary in Japan. A church in the mountains was pastored by two women as they said they had no men willing to lead. I wondered where is the companion sermon for men telling them to step up to the plate in the spiritual realm? There is a deficit of solid spiritual guys that will step into the ministry. Women by nature want to do what is needed. We will fill the void. If guys would make the sacrifice and fill the shoes that they were meant to fill, there would be less women pastors. I don’t understand male pastors with a Baptist background need to rebuke women on this issue. Where is your rebuke video to men?
Hi Lezlie, thanks for writing. The video/idea about women in leadership was/is controversial because it isn't the norm in the Bible. In response to your question (which is good), the Bible almost assumes that people would understand the role of men in leadership, and that they should be leading. It is true that in many instances and in many cultures, the men are typically spiritually lazy and the women are the ones getting things done. The link below links to 1 Timothy 3, where the teaching clearly points out the qualifications and expectations of church leaders, and it is obvious that it speaks to men and not women. So, the "companion sermons" perhaps aren't specifically needed since it is an oft repeated theme that men should be leading within the church. But you concern and observation certainly is valid. Thanks for writing. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gyw2tqF0Jik.html
Instead of you asking this man to rebuke men in regards to laziness, why don't you pray God lifts up men in that area that is needed or perhaps send a male missionary. Just a thought
Thank you for your wisdom on this very important topic. It is not a question of qualifications. A lot of women are qualified to to teach the word of God. It is a matter of being authorized. God established an order in the home as well as in the church. Women can be very effective public ministers and it is precisely why they should not usurp the rightful authority God put in place . For it was the woman Eve that was deceived not Adam. Thank you sharing your position on this issue. I am always encouraged by your teachings and learn so much.
Closer I didn't watch the video, but I am very familiar with these matters. I did a short essay on Deborah. God very early on showed us that gender doesn't matter. She had the responsibility to judge the hardest cases in the nation. Reply if desired.
@@user-iz8np3vv4i Deborah certainly did a good work, and God used her, buy only because then men around her failed. It wasn't God's design. In the New Testament we see God calling men to lead the churches. I invite you to watch the video. Blessings!
@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord you wrote: Deborah certainly did a good work, and God used her, buy only because then men around her failed. I cover that in my essay. You are incorrect. Incorrect because no scripture says that.
Thank you pastor for shedding light on this subject in such a kind and loving way but it needs to be said. I wear a head covering in church and even though I go to a small country church I surely get some odd looks on occasion but I will always adhere to the words of the lord.
Like there are no male mothers...there are no women pastors...God has reasons for everything He does...I enjoy watching and listening to Jan Markell as a teacher but in no way does she claim "pastor-hood." The liberal "churches" fall away from everything that God says is holy and righteous. They embrace every perversion that Satan offers. As a woman I've taught co-ed Bible studies as well as children. My gift is teaching. But I would never consider myself a pastor as God makes it clear that is not a position for females. Missionaries...yes. Teachers...yes. leadership of a church...no.
So women can pastor people from the sidelines. As long as they are not behind the pulpit it’s ok for them to lead people to Christ. I wouldn’t dare put Gods handiwork into this kind of a box.
@@leahmichelle473 My sister. You do not lead anyone to Christ. No one leads anyone to Christ except the holy Spirit within us. Not even our prayers come from us. Everything we do and say in God's name is powered by the Holy Spirit. Never forget that. God gives us His grace to help us in all things. That includes praying and anything we say to anyone. But we do not bring them to Christ. The Holy Spirit does.
We need to refer back to the Bible. 1 Timothy 2:1 says... 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. The issue at hand seems to be the idea of the role of oversight, which includes teaching and having authority. The idea is that it's the reversal of roles within the church. God gave men the position of leadership, which sadly, is often neglected or avoided. But we always want to refer back to God's design and seek to follow His design for the church and the home.
@@leahmichelle473 Hello there I used to be troubled by this and found The beautiful TRUTH and according to Paul writing to Timothy, this was a Cultural Context which relates to Paul saying to Timothy that women being disruptive and causing chaos must remain silent and listen, they are not to exert authority over a man, in other words to not abuse their authority. Look up Apostle Junia, Deaconess Phoebe, Aquilla and Priscilla, Tabitha, Deborah, Ester, and so on. The Original Greek expounds on this Authentein refers to not abusing authority. According to God Himself in The Original Hebrew of Genesis 1:26-28 says He made them in His Own Image Male and Female He made them Kenegdo/Suitable=Equal. Women pastors/pastoresses are encouraged highly by The Great HaShem LORD YHWH, JESUS is for Equality and Equal Opportunity, God Bless :)
I am totally for women alliance but this has always been one area where I objected to women being pastors over a congregation inclusive of women and men. My reason for this is because it is scriptural and you are right in pin pointing "obedience" Mr. Guzik. I love the fact that you said, in instances where it is not normative, women pastors should teach and train men who have the characteristics of being a spirit led pastor. Was expecting a bit more scripture refrences to substantiate your topic 😊. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome. Perhaps the commentary on 1 Timothy 2:11-15 might provide some additional insights. Hope it helps. enduringword.com/bible-commentary/1-timothy-2/
Thank you David for your work and contribution with your commentary, Enduring Word, which I have referred to daily as my go-to for many years. I place your work on the same level as Spurgeon and William MacDonald. May the Lord bless you, your family, and your congregation in every way possible.
I do not teach him, or argue with him in church or in public as I am glad Gof almighty was able to speak to him. About what his will was for me in the church.
Leah, thanks for the comment. This video wasn't intended to present the case - I do that in videos like the one linked below. My intention in this video was more to say, "seeing that we disagree on this, how should we regard each other?" Here's one example of me going into greater depth on the issue itself: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_LIaFoT5xaM.html
great video, thank you for doing it. My daughter attends a Christian school. An argument broke out in the class about women being preachers. I believe the teacher was for women being preachers. My daughter was very upset because she knows about God's order. This is a great video I will save for the future. I am thinking of forwarding it to the teacher. On another note. I listened to Elizabeth Elliott on this topic. She is so very wise. I believe she said it best, when women are preachers, widows miss out on the male leadership/headship they need.
This began so well. However, Scripture doesn’t say “women aren’t permitted to preach/teach/have authority over a man unless…” There is never a need for women to step into the gap to pastor a mixed congregation/church because “there are no qualified men”. If there lay members who are men in the congregation, there are qualified men available to step up and lead. If the church is healthy, there should always be the business of disciplining and training up. If the pastor and every other male leader is persecuted unto death, then the men among the lay members should be able to step up. If ALL of the men in a given church are persecuted unto death, then SURE…a woman could conceivably “pastor” at that point because the church would only be made up of women. There would be no men to have authority over. But such a scenario won’t likely occur and has not in recorded Church history. ❤
I totally agree with your perspective on how the Bible speaks to this issue. Your gift for explaining not only the Word but why it matters and how it was intended to be applied, is clearly God-given. I appreciate that you recognize and applaud the rare times it is appropriate for women to take that role, but also underscore the limited scope of that part of her teaching role. I hope that any woman in this position will accept your words and seek not only a wise earthly counsel but God's Counsel as well. We as Christians have for way too long agreed to too many leniencies in the Word, thus putting OUR stamp of approval on things DISAPPROVED by God our Creator and Father.
I appreciate you sharing your view. I don't hold the same view at all but I respect and honor people who think differently. God can use whomever He wants to and however He wants.
It's not about what we think, it's not about having different views, it's about what the LORD says, His view, His will and His Commandment, He does not allow weman to have leader sheap in the congratulations, and, as brother David said, we all are going to give an account to the Lord, and Jesus says, " why do you call me LORD but don't do what I said". James 1:5
06:24 - 08:01 Thank you for mentioning the extreme situation where a male may not be available. Not something I hear discussed, and have been curious about this quite recently!
Praise the Lord for women preachers and pastors who are called by God. Praise the Lord for 2/3 of missionaries are women on the mission field teaching, preaching and proclaiming the word of God. My interpretation of those scriptures are the exact opposite but God bless you.
My sister, they're not called by God in this. God would not call them into rebellion. The reason why God has not made women priests is the fact the He made us so special. Satan, destroyed the world through Eve. There's demons preaching in the form of transvestites in the pulpits because of women feeling sorry for them. There's men marrying men and women marrying women because of us women's feelings allowing them to do so when our God is against it. God has made it this way, for only men to be priests for His will and His purpose. We are to be obedient to God and not go after our own lusts. God's will be done sister and not your own. And any sister who is rebelling against God in this way, we must bring back to the Father. It's not right. No matter how many times you wish it to be so. There's many ways we as women serve God and God gave us those special ways. Why be unsatisfied with His way?
1) There are issue where women feels comfortable openig up female leaders. 2) Being in islamic dominant country Pakistan, it is a blessing cause you cant reach muslim-women thru male-pastors. 3) Brother Guzik is very kind but dont agree on many other subjects and follow his organizational standing.
It doesn't matter how many people are out of God's order, it still doesn't make it right....glad you didn't live in o.t. times, for you would believe that it would be ok to transport the ark of the covenant on a cart!..... scriptures are very clear.... you are perfect example of why women should not teach men ... like eve, you also have been deceived...we must submit to God's order if we want his approval! ....this doesn't make any less or better...just like the military....there is rank and authority..... We were all Marines, but had to obey orders ... God is a God of order...... Man is head in the home, and in the house of God.... have a blessed day!
he clearly stated they are not called by God but in fact are in disobediance and are really a hinderance ... Bella. Where do you get 2/3 of missionaries are women?

The word helpmeet in our kjv is actually the word Ezer Kenegdo in the original language. It is defined as helper, rescuer, savior, warrior. It is used only in conjunction with woman and God. Woman was necessary to be able to bring a unblemished savior, Jesus, born without sin, of the woman's seed. Salvation was brought into the world because the woman cannot pass her sin to her offspring. The patriarchal church does not want women to know this. Eve did usurp authority over Adam when she brought up the fact that the serpent was in the garden. Adam did not tell God because he was supposed to protect the garden and Eve but did neither. This is why women should remain silent in church. So to not make the man look bad again, she has been gagged.
I know a lead- woman pastor and she is absolutely amazing. We are conservative Christian’s- we are Bible following people. There is no denying she was called by God. He has guided every step, and is leading her to do His work. No one can stop someone - man, woman, or child - from preaching Gods word, as long as it is aligned with the True Gospel. I would seek God on this matter, and ask Him to enlighten you on the truth.
We thank God for anointed and gifted women who can minister to others. yet the Scriptures are clear that a woman is not to teach or have authority over a man. We need to be careful to not have situational exceptions because something or someone seems to be effective or is gifted, etc. It is wise to follow God's word as it is clearly stated. Blessings to you in Jesus!
@@DavidGuzikEnduringWordI am an Adventist and have an Andrews University study Bible, and the commentary clear stated we should not misinterpret the scripture. @@OweJaco We each have to read and interpret the Bible on our own. The s ruptures seem clear to me, but we each need to follow our own convictions before God. Blessings in Jesus.
I agree with you Pastor David because it is written in scriptures that women should not preach or teach especially in the pulpit. There's so many ways in which a woman can spread the word of God other than being a pastor... For instance oh, quite often while I was visiting people in the hospital I encountered lovely Christian women who would visit patients and consoled them with the word of God and I took notice to how they responded to women doing this type of ministry as opposed to men and I honestly believe that both women and men respond much better to the sound of a woman's voice as they say the woman's touch, however women can touch people with their words or should I say with the word especially sick people. Yes I do believe they are better at that than men, but preaching from the pulpit as a pastor... in Timothy it is clearly stated that they should not, unless in a dire case where there is no man available to be a pastor of a church then I would think that God would not want the clergy to be without a shepherd or in that case a shepherdess! Thank you Pastor David... Very interesting subject and you handled it beautifully!
Amen. God's will be done and not our own. God has made very special ways for us women to serve Him. Those who do not understand, we pray for but they are in rebellion if they're preaching as priests.
@Suzie Roberts It's also written in scripture that if you meet a homosexual, they should be stoned to death. Do you support that as well? Want me to go on and list other examples that you seem to be neatly side-stepping?
@@ColinDH12345 you tell me where in the Scriptures it says that homosexuals should be stoned... probably in the Old Testament that might have been written but we don't live under the Old Testament oh, we go under the New Testament because we follow Christ and Jesus prevented the crowds from stoning the woman who was caught in adultery but he also told her to sin no more so he obviously stated that adultery was a sin that wasn't that punishable by stoning because if Jesus says it's a sin then it is a sin which can be forgiven as long as you repent of it! I dunno as everyone knows that God burnt down to cities of homosexuals and that was after he gave him many opportunities to stop doing but he considers to be an abomination. Do I believe that homosexuals should be stoned? I believe that God's will should be done and he is made it very clear that any kind of sin she'd be repented of otherwise you might not get stoned in this day and age but you might lose your inheritance to heaven!! I am not a judge but I do believe God's word in the scripture To put it as nicely as I can, if you closely observe the male and the female body oh, it does not take a rocket scientist to realize that God intended the male to enter into the female and he provided the bodily organs for this purpose of his to be accomplished!!
@@suzieroberts2203 Well if you are ignoring the Old Testament then that's really cherry-picking. You can't just pick a translated phrase in scripture written by an unknown author, at least 50 years after Christ lived, and base your life's view on that. That's my point. Leviticus by the way. You should know that.
I really appreciate the way you tackled this subject. Does this apply to women in a ministry (for example, Christine Caine, Priscilla Shirer, etc) that may hold a conference or be a guest speaker at a church on Sunday morning? Thank you! I’ve really been enjoying your commentary!
We believe that Paul's main point is that women are not to have authority over men, which would include teaching/commanding men towards a particular way of living. Women teaching woman is fine. Women teaching men and then exhorting/commanding them to follow through is what God/Paul says needs to be avoided. Hope this helps.

I challenged a male church minister to ordaining a female for an elder. An apostle called junia and free fot the law cuts it me me. St Pauls scriptures seemed twisted to fit society. There is so much enrichment of male representation throughout old and new. My emotion was absolutely livid, felt sick inside. I lost trust in the church if scotland minister , and questioned his faithfulness to God and left thst house of prayer last year, everyone seemed to put up with this unbiblical practice. My reference point, were genesis- gods authority bring question/undermined, satan roming up and down this earth testing Jobs faith (job 1), and no more curse in Revelation.
It sad , but it harms the church, its confusion. God is not confusion. I hope to use my spiritual gift from Jesus, enriching my son with God's word in the bible and be saved through child raring.
All I know is that God is Love and with out Love we are nothing. Through women preachers I have come to know that God loves me and that I can lead others to God , showing them love. Therefore please focus on love!
Hi Pastor Guzik. I love your teachings and I respect your advice as you preach from scripture. Can you shed light on women teaching Bible studies? Is it the same as taking a leadership role in the church?
Hi Keke, The main concern that we need to consider is the idea of women teaching men and having authority over them. Women can certainly teach other women and children, but they are not called by God to be teaching men or having authority over men. I wouldn't think it improper if a woman offered a passing insight or comment to a man, but the idea is that the position of teaching and having authority over a congregation is only for the men. Hope this helps. Blessings!
1 Corinthians 14:34-37 King James Version 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. 36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? 37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the (commandments of the Lord).
@davidguzicenduringword Hi Pastor David. I just watched this because I often gravitate to your commentary after I have spent hours in the Scriptures first. The Spirit gives us unity on so many topics in Scripture and I value that. Your video and responses here are so grace-filled. You may not reply and I understand. I appreciate the opportunity to leave a question here. When culture has shifted and women are no longer possession and can be educated like men, and work in outside the home,it seems to me that we have to take into account a cultural shift. Otherwise, we might be taking positions from a fallen state. We don’t do certain things the Bible tells the readers of their day to do because the culture has shifted. Women aren’t silent in church. That’s broken all the time. Women aren’t disobedient to God by taking a job or going to school. Yet, that means they won’t be in the home all the time. Slaves aren’t prevalent in our culture. We went beyond slavery. Isn’t there room to interpret the Scripture based on where the culture was at the time? The worship or elevation of women in Ephesus comes to mind. I can understand the concern in that day. And, it was bad. Rather than a few verses of restriction for all time, maybe they were contextually important at the time. Joel 2 comes mind. I wonder if the issue is the outpouring of the Spirit and calling of God more than some retained cultural norm. I’m not talking about sin either. Sun iThoughts?
Hi Mike, thanks for writing in. One of the very important considerations on this passage is found 1 Timothy 2:12-14. Paul wrote... 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. I understand that people can have a concern about this prohibition being very connected to the culture of Ephesus, of those times. However, Paul here refers back to Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, and uses them as an example of God's "chain of command". He presents the case that the prohibits of women teaching man and having authority over them was never God's intention, and that God's intention goes back to Genesis chapter 1. Based on that, I don't believe that an argument can be made that this prohibition was made for cultural reasons Thanks for writing in, and I hope that this helps. He's beimg nice. But it's pretty plain to me. Any woman who acts as a pastor is ignorant or rebellious of Scripture. Therefore, she is misleading others. Anyone who listens to her is already walking in error. Tell it like it is. That's one thing i agree with Baucham about. God's order is clear. We have no right to create our own excuses for ignoring Scripture.
My husband was the one God told that I had been called by him to be his pastor. I should stop being afraid that may be God did not Calle for that. I should stop being afraid that my husband will divorce me. The same dream was duplicated to my father in law. He answered yestpnyawwh and the council of elders, and woke up and warned my husband to not divorce me and support me in God's ministry. He had even met by God and agreed that he would encourage me and his son to do thrill of God and it was Elohim who had called me.
Thank you very much for this refreshing view. Do you think it is appropriate for a woman to go up to read scripture /a bible reading in Sunday church service? But not the preaching part, nor to lead or address the congregation, just reading aloud from scripture. The church pastor does the preaching.
I do not believe that women should be pastors in any church. There should be no female pastors, bishops, elders, etc. Where did all of this come from anyway. Men have no business being under the subjection of a woman in church. This is just my opinion.
Pastor Dave, asking for a friend. :) You spoke of exception, would that include female missionaries who serve in remote areas in the world where there is no male leadership? These sisters are not seeking to teach men, but as they are teaching youths and kids and women, there are men who come to listen because there are no male teachers/leaders. Just want to make sure. ~ your friend Felice
@@user-iz8np3vv4i Was Deborah a Pastor of a church? I do not see anywhere in the Bible that God says that only men qualify for leadership of any kind. He just makes it clear that men are to lead in the home and in the church.
@@terrybain828 Deborah was the primary pastor/shepherd of God's people at about 1100 B.C. you wrote: He just makes it clear that men are to lead in the home... I have a post on this. Reply if you wish it.
Right on, their are a lot more topics like this which go untouched by churches because they desperately want to be guided by the worlds culture. Like familys who have homeless relatives. Do families have the right to tell a relative to go work, when the relative as issues that prevent them from getting work? If God provides for the next day then whats the harm in housing a relative? Whats the harm in providing for your family member if it cost you zero dollars out of pocket? There is a lot of tough questions that I like to ask pastors except none of them, when I use biblical theology word for word, accept what im saying as fact. Its always passed over or the question is ignored. Why do you think that is? Because if God is truth and God is Love and I read verbatim the words of the Lord through the Bible, why is it being denied or passed over? I think its because I've exposed the evil of their hearts and they don't want to face it. I mean rightfully so, for so long I've denied a lot of my sins and buried them deep. And now I'm in the worst place in my entire life. Due in part to peoples judgment of my sins, to a large degree. But either way my new direction is in christ and if I cant point out deep intellectual questions to seek guidance then what is the purpose of fellowship? What is the purpose of a pastor? Proverbs 21: 2 states every man is right in his own eyes. So its thoughtful of me to ask deep insightful questions about theology if I want to learn and discern truth not just in word but through the holy spirit. Am I being misguided by my own selfishness or is what im reading and interpretation of the bible correct. I just pray their are more videos out there of people addressing some tough issues that rub up against culture and bible.
Travis, It's certainly good to ask honest questions. That's how we grow and mature. Regarding housing a family member, there are many, many considerations and conditions that need to be considered. We should all do what we can to help people, but that is a "moving target", and there may be times when a family might not be able to help for varying reasons. The purpose of a pastor is to teach, guide, protect, counsel, and more. Blessings as you move forward with your life in Jesus.
@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Thank you. I understand the moving target reference for sure. A lot of things to consider when it involves family or two people. But I believe helping those in need and the poor is a core value of Christ and given the means to provide a Christian should answer that call especially if they are a family member or brother in Christ. But I think the question if I had to ask another one is where does the line start to get bury? Is it bury if the person in need disrupts the home, functionality, money. Whats the major factors that make the choice bury? I bet Jesus would have taken is shirt off his back if it meant another person would be saved and believed. Idk.
@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Can you have the holy spirit if the Love of the Lord is not in you like 1st John 3:17 says? I believe we don't lose the holy spirit but when you give way to the world you suppress its love, joy, peace, guidance, ect. Is it not scary if you have no love for a brother in Christ? I've found no love at any of the church's I have been too. Fake love, yes, but that love for a brother in Christ, no. Is their any hope for that in my life as a homeless sinner?
@@travisdevoid535 there is a constant battle between the flesh and the Spirit within us. We must decide to surrender to the promptings and empowering of God's Spirit within us. If you don't find love in the churches you visit, you can still attend and share the love of God with others! Blessings!
I am a female Bible teacher, and I love the heart of this message so much. I've shared it with love to people who know me as a teacher. I found it after using your commentary, guessing your position on women in ministry by your association with Calvary Chapel, and wondering how you would feel about me using your commentary. I was going to email your ministry but looked to see if you'd already prepared a video on the topic. You couldn't have made a kinder, more honest message on your position. I so appreciate your heart in sharing your beliefs and your commentary. I look forward to being stuck with you in eternity 🤗 Thank you. Be blessed.
1 tim 2 and 1 cor 14;35 in 1 tim paul talks about ONE woman who was not allowed to teach ONE man because she usurped authority over the man. no believer has the right to usurp the authority over the other. nor man nor a woman. paul used singular form in that passage and spoke about one specific woman. not to women in general. especially that just a few verses earlier paul was addressing the issue of modesty and spoke about women in general, in PLURAL form. God does know the difference between plural and singular. in 1 cor 14;35 where it says that women are not allowed to speak in church paul meant that women were not supposed to CHAT (disturb by talking, chatting) in the church. a few verses earlier in that same chapter paul was saying in verse 26 paul says "How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying." - that means that each, whether a man or a woman is supposed to share a teaching, a revelation, or any other thing they receive from God in order to edify the church. col 3;16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." - again, the same paul says here that we all are to TEACH and ADMONISH one another when we gather together. also in 1 cor 11 paul (3 chapters earlier) paul talks about women praying and prophesying in church - so he could not mean in 1 cor 14;35 that women cannot speak. most teaching on the subject of family and women's role are based on man's traditions and ignorance and pride, not on the Word of God. which is very sad. additionally, pastor is not a position of authority not a title. it is a role and a function. being a pastor means you take care of the sheep, of other believers, help them in whatever they need you to do. you dont even have to teach others. you are a care giver. also, in 1 tim 2;5 we read that there is only One Mediator between God and men. when you accept another person, another human being as your head, authority or a priest/pastor then you make that person an antichrist because they stand in the PLACE of Christ. the Lord Yeshu Hamashiyah said in mat 23;10 "Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ." there is only ONE AUTHORITY over us and that is only Lord Yeshu Hamashiyah. the Bible says that husband and wife are one flesh so they are one head and they are both submitted to the only Headship of the Lord Yeshu Hamashiyah and they are to be submitted one to another (eph 5;21). when you look at people through their gender you look at them through their flesh... that is being carnally minded.
A bit disappointing you said 'i won't eliminate the possibility of changing my perspective on this'. The Word is clear, God is clear on this. Women are not to be pastors, leaders or teachers (over men they can teach other women in the church). WHy would you change your perspective on what God's word says? We have to be firm on biblical truth and careful not to preach a watered down version of God's word
We believe that Paul's main point was that women are not to teach/have authority over men. A word of encouragement from a worship leader would be acceptable and not in violation of God's/Paul's command.
Since you like to put so much emphasis on FIRST ORDER. The first order in the very beginning of creation, the absolute perfect state of humanity was male and female, reigning together, side by side, as equals. If Christian women can endure centuries of abuse at the hands of men that twist the scriptures on submission to fit their need for power and control and domination, then I think they can withstand criticism as women pastors. God gave mankind instructions to have dominion and subdue the earth together. We need to stop looking at the bible through Western eyes. This is our great tragedy. Just as you have your complementarian opinions, so do egalitarians, equally as committed to the truth as you are. The bible is filled with examples of women working with Paul in the ministry of the gospel alongside men in a Greco-Roman world where rule was the domain of the Roman man. It should not surprise us that there were few women in that world that had the education or the opportunity to serve in any kind of leadership capacity in the church, and yet there was one that was in prison for it by the name of Junia, there was one that taught men, Priscilla along with her husband Aquilla, one who led a church in her own home, Lydia...the list goes on and on (Romans 16). We need more Jesus in the church and less Aristotle.
I pastor youth and young leaders in our church and I am a woman. Is that okay? Though I do believe the headship of men. And of course our senior pastor is a man.
A woman pastoring youth is different than a woman pastoring men. The Bible doesn't seem to prohibit that. I would say that if a young man is still living under the authority of his parents, then he can be taught and directed by a woman. When that youth is out on his own, that may signal him becoming a "man". Hope this helps.
1Timothy 2:11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women will be saved through childbearing-if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety. 1Corinthians 14:34 Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. It was virtually the unanimous view of the ancient Church Fathers that women are to remain silent in church and never to teach doctrine to a congregation. Denominations that have ordained women as pastors with authority over men in the congregations have suffered catastrophic losses and usually fallen into doctrinal heresy.
This is true 1Timothy 2:11 a woman should learn in quietly and full submission I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man she must be silent for Adam was formed first then Eve Adam was not the one who deceived it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner but women will be saved through childbearing if they continue in faith love and Holiness and prosperity 1Corinthians 14:33,38 for God is not a god of disorder but of piece as in all the congregation of the Saints women should remain silent in the churches they are not allowed to speak but must be in submission as the law say. But woman can do women Bible class
