This watch was appraised for more than the airplane!! I had an opportunity of a lifetime to be able to go up in this beautiful B-25 with my wife and friends. Loved every minute of EAA Airventure this year and was so glad I could meet so many of you! I'm already looking forward to next year! Back to work!

Years ago when I was a boy, I met Gen. Jimmy Doolittle. It was the Antique airplane fly-in in Watsonville,CA. I walked up to a crowd around my fathers airplane. My dad called be over and asked me, "Son, Do you know who this man is?" I looked at a older gentleman sitting along with his wife next the airplane. I reached out my hand and made the introduction. He reached out with a big smile and said " My name is Jimmy Doolittle". I was shocked. I grew up in an aviation household. Did I know Jimmy Doolittle, Damn right! Famous Air Racing pilot in the 1920s. Chief Pilot for Shell Oil in the 30's and the man who led a bombing flight of B-25s over Tokyo in 1942. We also shared the same birthday Dec.14th! I had been educated about early aviation by my dad. To meet a pioneer of aviation was the highlight of the trip. Aviation is a small world, and if you make enough air shows your bound to run into Mike and Chandra sooner or later! Hopin' so! Back to Work! Another great video.

I’ve got the same story but I can’t remember which airshow it was at … at another instance my dad took me to meet some cast members of Black Sheep Squadron … I shook Robert Conrad’s hand and reminded him that he’s not Pappy Boyington because I had met Pappy at a book signing. How precocious could I have been a a youngster

But definitely a dying breed, unfortunately. Kids don’t seem to have the desire to build and / or maintain such demanding skills as are required to refurbish this old school classic. Wonderful that history lives on in such a lovely aircraft.

The sound of those radials just never gets old. So much character. My ride in the B-17 Yankee Lady is an experience i will never forget. Brave ypung men. There was very little between them and the bullets coming at them. Very somber at the moment i got i to it and realized what it must have been like. Still gives me chills.

Cool. I got to ride in a B-25, converted to a water bomber in the mid 70's, shortly after I got my private pilots license. Went out for two water dump runs sitting in the co-pilots seat. The pilot asked me to hold the throttles as the one for the right engine wasn't holding and would slowly lower the engine RPM. At the end of the day, when the fire was contained, it only took a couple of minutes to tighten the friction lock, but there wasn't time to do that when the fire was raging. I will never forget the rush when the water was released and the plane lept up several hundred feet just from the sudden loss of weight!

I was in Glendale, CA near the intersection of I-5 and the 134 when Mr. Doolittle passed away in 1993. I clearly remember the flight of B-25's over the facility doing the honor flight. What a contrast...pilots with gray hair flying Mike and family, contrasted with the "kids" who flew those things 80 years ago!

Amazing transformation that Mitchell went through! I can’t even imagine the hours of labor that took. I had goosebumps throughout this entire video - hearing the story, seeing that watch 😮😮, and seeing that beautiful bird fly. A bit of tearing up, too, as I always think about the true heroes that flew these into battle 8 decades prior. Always a deep experience for me being around these old warbirds - like the spirits of those men are still with the aircraft. Thanks for sharing, Mike! GREAT vid!! 🤩

I got to see Panchito Fly over my house in Dayton, Ohio and got to walk around and take pictures of it at the Dayton Air Show. To imagine these huge planes taking off from a relatively small aircraft carrier is mind blowing. Jimmy Doolittle and his raiders all took off from the deck and many had to ditch in the ocean or crash land in China. God bless them for their acts of heroism and the tireless efforts of the Chinese people who helped them escape.

Beautiful video Mike. This touched me!! I’m named after my great uncle who was in a B-25 and died in a training accident at the end of WWII in Myrtle Beach,SC. He was filling in for a crew member who was sick, so I’m not sure what role he was doing. One day I hope to find the military archives of that accident to really understand what happened.

I live near and fly in. And out of Pendleton Ore airport,- KPDT Doolittle and his Raiders were based here in prep for their raids. Runway 29 approach is similar to an aircraft carrier as it starts on a bluff high above the city. You can still see the old tie downs that did not put the planes in rows like occured in Hawaii. Thanks for sharing this video.

Some have said you shouldn't risk flying such rare aircraft as these. I think it worthy of the risks. We have all seen aircraft in a museum, they are without life, cold and dead. But to hear the roar of it's engine, to see the sunlight glint off it's canopy as it banks away after a low pass ... it lives once again ❤ ... Very close to bringing a tear to my eye , Thank you Mike for this video and for your passion ♥

I think too many people, likely in relation to timing just after Oppenheimer film release, think it’s a reference to the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. Arguably, there’s more reason to express negative sentiment as to those attacks (wrongly, in my opinion).

It was great to see your wife with a bigger smile than you, claiming through to the gun turrits. I guessing it was her that took the vids from the gun turrits. I loved watching this. As you would know. I often watch Kerme Weeks channel as well. Has a fantastic range of flying WW1 and WW2 planes. If you not been in contact with him, and visit him, you should. From What I seen on you tube, fasinating place. I live in New Zealand so bit far away for me. At this point of time. He has Just got going an A26 Avenger recently. They are just finishing doing some test flights in past weeks. I think is last vid he has put up. I Not sure if is the same plane, I know he was having one Rebuilt down here in New Zealand for last 20 years or so. I might have missed the episode where it was shipped back to Kerme. Just finished putting back together in America.
