This pastor is a true hero to keep people from being a burden to the system and keep them for the most part safe and not hungry.I am grateful humanity still exist!
WHAT??? This pastor is Mother Theresa AGAIN, these people give money to A CHURCH, while they DIE. GOD DOES NOT EXIST, all you have is YOURSELF, don't count on anyone!!!! ALL YOU HAVE IS, yourself. life goes one until the Government makes it CHANGE,
Instead of expecting everyone else to give them free food and a free place to tent they should buy some farm land and grow food for themselves. The amish do it and make good money and they dont even have electric.
I believe the minister who started and or interacts with the people of this camp are very lucky to have a staunch person in there midst as he is a legend, thanks for the upload
I've been in this position before and thankfully found my way out. The positive thing about losing everything is that when you do rebuild you appreciate what you have so much more than before you lost everything.
Gabby Gideon Yes I too lost everything and my sister died my mom and then my dad. Then my freedom and finally the family that was left stole everything I was to inherit. I started from homeless but Jesus walked me through it the entire way picking me up at times and carrying me. Jesus saved me I couldn’t fix my own life myself but He could and did. Jesus Christ loves you and I love you like Jesus. God bless.
I was homeless for 11+ years and the camps that I've frequented had strong regulations and even stronger penalties. So it's in all due respect, I'd like to make a few suggestions: 1.) The camp needs to be a dry camp(aka absolutely no liquor or beer or drugs for-that-matter) 2.) ...first fight, last night. 3.) 10 pm to 10 am is quiet hours. 4.) If you've been arrested/imprisoned for anything domestic or have a felony, no admittance. And any violations to the rules, means immediate & permanent expulsion. And if returning to the camp(after expulsion), will be seen as trespassing, and you will be arrested. Even if as a guest only, no exceptions. I(like others) may be homeless ...but we are not brainless, mindless, or soulless. We are not w/o morals, ethics, decency, values, etc. And most importantly we are human beings that deserve & pay-it-forward when it comes to peace, security, and dignity. And the reason why those camps I once knew came to an end, was due to other homeless people that ruined it for the rest of us.
It looks like those four people who were drinking and yelling at the pastor ought to leave before the entire camp is driven out-- whether they are ready or not. Questions for the Mayor of Lakewood, if you aren't willing to allow subsidized housing for the seniors and disabled people there, living in this camping village, how can they not be forced to be camping out to begin with ???
makes me laugh the way our country's inc mine the uk can always find a few spare million to give to other countries when charity begins at home. plus mental health care could do with a overhaul
God Bless you for your Love and hard work for those that are needy and the destitute! Thank You Very Much! You will have a very prosperous life in God's Kingdom!
Iain Es Mitchell He is doing it because is the right and normal human thing to do. I like him are not doing it for a benefit. It makes me happy when I know my neighbor is not starving all night and have food in her belly. It is a reward to see her content
One of the best pastors I've seen in along time. No matter how you feel about religion. This man is keeping to the best part of it. Helping those who need the most help with In our natural.
God Bless you Minister Steve, I know when we are at the bottom of ower life, it is hard to get back on your feet. How I know I lived in a 12'x12' shed for six months in up state NY form Sept to Feb .The Lord is watching all that you do. Thank God For You!!! Amen
Minister Steve means no harm. Does he have time to go to the City Council meetings at all, to lobby the town to ask for funds for affordable housing ? I wish there was contact info for him.
I live in on the Big Island of Hawaii. Homelessness is very high here along with a few more in the Island chain. On Oahu Island. It takes a husband and and a wife to work 40 hrs a week ,Each. Earnings of a minimum wage of $50.00 a hr. Too, at the least have a roof over their heads (if they have the time to even enjoy it). Yet, they still struggle to live a Very Simple lifestyle. With that said.. Homeless camps have assisted here in Hawaii for many years. They are very structured by one simple word. That word is "ALOHA". To give..without the expectations of reviving something in return. Respect others. Be humble to all and so on. "ALOHA" is even written in the state law!! I'm not Homeless. I'm houseless. Hawaii will forever be my home. I've been on the mainland. And have never felt the Aloha there. Only on Native American Reservation ( I have ). Only, I'm not Native American. Yet, there is a strong connection between both. The white man overthrew the Hawaiian Monarchy. Stole this land . Just as he stole the Native Americans land. All while placing his monetary policies on it. Pay to live . What was once free to all. GREED is in his nature and it will be GREED that will result in his downfall. Land.. Water.. Air.. Should be free. Yet, we now must pay for it all. And be forced to exsept the reality. The this man is poisoning it all with a stroke of his pin on paper. Please, Do not come too Hawaii without understanding what "Aloha" means. Respect.. The land... At least do not steal what little we have left. Please, keep your GREED. We don't care for it. If you do bring it.. You will NOT make it here 1 day.. Your lifestyle WILL be very hard. MAHALO, for taking this time to read and perhaps learn a little more about Native people.. Be humble Be positive Belive...and good things will happen. 😉🤙 The water's.. The air.. goes along way here..
Every last one of us should thank God if we have a stable home and income. Any one of us for whatever reason or circumstance could be right there. Jesus said,"Whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for Me."
Leviathan 61' I didn't grow up camping, but I have always loved nature. See people who live by me are still stuck in th 1700s way of thinking. They seem to think that the wild is where the devil lives haha. I think it is amazing to see the world as the creator planned, with out skyscrapers and walmarts. I feel like the wilderness is gods greatest church.
Everyone is so quick to try and kick people out, but where are you kicking them out too? At least in Tent city they are all in one area and not spread out hiding through the city. It's pretty much illegal to live in a way the government can't tax you, yet, you can't afford the taxes. I believe instead of providing handouts, they need to provide jobs to those who are mentally well enough to work. And, provide help for those suffering from addiction and mental illness.
What is more important building a wall to keep the Mexicans out or get the u.s. citizens off the street use some of that wall money to help the homeless people out
Some of the people homeless are the casualties of having too many illegals. If they're taking jobs that the American citizen what would take ,that's one less job. You liberals don't see it like that.
He's such a spineless scumbag! Lakewood had turned into a shitehole with Downtown properties having a "scorched earth" look & that was done solely for "tax breaks." Funny how some folks get those "tax breaks" while those who have nothing were told to GTFO! As I said on another video; when we treat those who are less fortunate with contempt; humanity is cursed! I am hoping the APP does a follow up to show us where some of the former residents are now since they annihilated "Tent City."
@@suzyrottencrotch5132 Not all homeless use drugs, or alcohol or have mental problems. Aside from the above issues, it's the gigged/ rigged economy of the 1980's never improving, as " they " promised it would. Both parties failed the country. Tax breaks for the politicians, the financial moguls and the banks. Trillions lost to theft by the military brass. After 40+ years, it's hopeless now. The U.S. is gone. And much hated by the rest of the world.
At least these people have someplace to go. When I first became homeless I did not survive well. It takes time to learn the ropes of living outdoors without getting sick. Sleeping in cars will make you sick when it gets really hot or cold. One needs lots of fresh water and clean clothes..
@JupiterLounge from my experience the shelter staff a good amount of them are very disrespectful to the homeless that live there like when i was in tha ymca shelter in their gym where some of was sleeping at it was very hot and they didnt do nothing about it. They didnt even want us to sit in the lobby to cool down so after me sum other guys beat tha shit out of the manager we left and figure we was better off outside
I'm wondering if these people can't come there to build a community garden? packs of seeds are cheap and could provide a steady supply of fresh food and if done right enough for canning for the cold months...just a thought
I can it takes a lot of water jars lids things have to be sterile I dont see these conditions conducive for canning. Or freezing as there's not a permanent source of electricity.
That poor young kid trying to go ahead in life and trying to do what he can to survive. At least he’s motivated. God bless them all and especially him cause he’s so young
United States has a lot of American veterans on the street to government turned it back on them they need to spend some of that wall money to help get the homeless people off the street
Jessie Blanton We don’t need to spend the wall money to help these people, we need to spend the money that we’re wasting on immigrants that shouldn’t be here. Yet we continue to bring in still more immigrants.
@@PictureMaker22 Big Business wants immigrants, the military wants them, too. Cannon fodder. The immigrants themselves are being driven out of their countries by evil dictators propped up by Washington. This won't end until citizens tell DC to stop it.
same here. 60 plus years of work each, a nice paid for home, two trucks, both paid for and $345K savings...medicare and two supplement policies….we thought we would be OK.....9 year battle with cancer and reduced to $67K credit card debt, one, older high mileage truck, no savings at all and home long gone to pay for bills...now, all I have is the old truck, Medicaid (which is, of course, much worse than medicare) , $67K credit card debt and no home. never did drugs or drank or smoked or wasted money. But, 70 years old, a widow and on the street, dumpster diving for food. I feel I should go into the desert in California and proclaim myself an illegal alien....they get better treatment...at least medical care, food and shelter.
I still can’t believe how lucky I am, to be born in Germany with a class A social health system. But things are changing here slowly& I fear what’s coming.
Autistic-Schizophrenic Superman Say you’re a gay Russian, Syrian or Afghan. You’ll get a apartment in a second. Being German in Germany will get you in the end of the waiting line.
As Pope Francis said in Washington DC at Saint Patrick's Church Catholic Charities for Homeless: "there is no moral justification for anyone to be without housing." The homeless inAmerica are homeless because of greed and inhumanity of others and a social legal system which fosters this indifference and these injustices.
There is no moral justification for anyone to be without housing, but for some people there exist's a rational justification to be without the moral word of God.

speaking on the danger of living there, is there not the same things happening in the larger more expensive comunity? taxes. they aint getting thier cut and dont want other people doing what they are. living free
barrie hutchinson government should at least finance the building of wooden cabins.the group could build them themselves. We have a lot of new government housing in South Africa.
There are unskilled non English speaking laborers in other countries right now who, this time next year, will be in the US working, driving and living in a home or apartment...how?...they’ll drive right past American born English speaking homeless and even pay taxes to help them...what..?..how..?...I’m not against immigrants or homeless and I’m not being sarcastic I’m just pointing out that America is THE land of opportunity...capitalism is not the problem we are. We gotta lift each other up...bringing good jobs back to the US is key I believe, let’s fight for it 🙏🇺🇸🙏
I was a contractor for many decades. I wonder today how many 700 sq ft clapboard sided home's $5.6 billion would build,, and how many jobs that would provide? How many jobs will "BEAUTIFUL WALL" produce?
i think these ppl need some help....jobs offers ... consulting etc ..i dont think they r getting much of that ....everyone just turns back and do not want anything in common with them ...poverty is a crime
Living with Latino and black neighbors is much like living in a tent city. The noise and chaos are demoralizing. The fights, the breaking, and entering. And I live in an area where the average home is about $1 million dollars or it was before they moved in.
Amen Brothers. Some of us can only afford 'simple' in life: simple shelter, simple food, simple community relationships. Why can't these people be allowed to land and to rest in just such an environment?
Their camp is great. It looks very tidy compared to some places I've seen. That man was right about liking it more than the apartment, looking out on the beautiful greenery.
I personally think this is a fantastic idea that someone came up with to home people who unfortunately living on the streets it gives them a little bit of hope and that's all it needs in this world. it doesn't matter where you come from in which part of the world you are from homeless people Aria there and many of them don't have a shelter many of them live in the extremes weather. So good on this guy for making a place for these people
let me know how I can help minister steve we have a heartless corperate agenda we have lost our pioneering homestead people helping roots we need tobuild large complexs that well facilitate the needy come on America lets help others in need don't fall into the corperate mentality greed basterards
I have spent a little over 7 years being homeless or so I thought i was until one day it came to me. Does having a home mean a place that you pay rent or a place that you have a mortgage that you pay so that one day you own property . Does it mean a place that costs you money to have a roof over your head . That might be what most people think. But to me a home is where your heart is . A home is a place where you always feel welcomed and safe. A home is a place where people know you and love you. Your home is where every body there feels like family. And some time home is simply where you hang your hat. Now I don't go around judging all the people out there that work 2 full time jobs to pay for those big houses so they can be just like everyone else . You know those people that pay for all that room why is that so the don't have to spend a single minute together . Because if they end up in the same room as a family they might have to talk to each other. To me it's those neighbor hoods that have parents that don't know what their child's favorite color is. Or what they are really doing at a friends house sleeping over. It's those places that don't know thier neighbors names or how many people really live next door. Or even worse its those places that will close thier curtains when they hear trouble next door as long as it doesn't come over to thier house. But I bet they know what kind of car thier neighbor drives or how much that house is worth . Would they even offer to help with the yard if thier neighbor fell sick . Or would they just complain. That is why I think tent cities are some times the best kind of home. For example this story take a look at how the people of the community has came together to help each other or to be there for others in a time of need and less fortunate than they are. So maybe instead of looking down ones nose at others try and learn from them get to know them. Because who knows it just might be you that is in need if a place to call home. But unlike people that pay rent or a mortgage people in a tent city will always let you in and welcome you with open arms and do thier best to make you feel at home I say this with much love Signed Dawnette Simons
It is a natural thing for people to pull together during times of hardship. Take natural disasters like the two hurricanes we just encountered, Harvey and Irma. Take 9/11, or many other examples. But when things are stays que, and going smoothly, people tend to be pretty self absorbed and independent, not caring so much about neighbors, community, etc.
I too am homeless and I live in a shelter in Manhattan. It beats the street. As I go through the system, I am promised a 3room, it a studio, and finally an sro. We need more dwellings, especially in Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, queens and Staten island. These are all human rights, and isn't this America? Land of opportunity?? I am 61 years old. I've never been homeless in my life. I've come to realize that nobody grows up planning to be homeless. Circumstances happened and I cannot work. I've been diagnosed as bipolar and schizo affect which means that I hear voices. Please try to be kind to us people. For those of you that believe in God or some other higher power, remember that you may have to answer for how you've treated others in your lifetime. Do you really want God to judge you on that?? This is not what you want when you're trying to get in to heaven. Believe it. When God asks you why you've treated his people, can you really answer that ??
This is why we don’t need open boarders we can’t even helped the homeless here this is a terrible. Thing that they are homeless people in amercia the richest country in the world
In other words, if you spend your time getting drunk, using drugs, being a dangerous thug, and refuse to take responsibility for yourself, you still deserve to have someone else pay your way through life with their hard-earned money? Really? Rights all come with responsibilities. So do freedoms. If you fail to accept the responsibilities, you have no right that says others need to take care of you.
The problem is with all the homeless Americans it is because of all the illegal immigrants and foreigners has taking the fordable housing that's why you see all these tents setting up all over in different states it's because all the foreigners like I said they have taken all the housing they have more rights than the Americans who have worked here in paid taxes
WRONG we latins stead of just sitting there in those parks work as anything cleaning toilets u Caucasians look just sitting waiting for help plus we ruther live with our families or back to our parents but not in the streets that ur problems WHERE ARE U PARENTS?
Thank you Jesus that i have a Bed and a roof over my head. Thank you for my family and my Job. Thank you that i have clean water and Thank you that you provide me with food daily. I pray that you protect all these people and help them to get back on there feet with God speed i pray in JESUS name i always pray Amen....... And all who agrees say....
they feel like it lowers the property value and gives the town a bad reputation. its the whole " not in my backyard " mentality. too bad the town, churches, or whatever, couldn't take up money and buy a piece of scrub land for the tent city to move to. they could have the pastor or whoever they feel to run the place and if people couldn't follow the basic rules, then that person gets kicked out.
It was a totally different story in the 1700 and 1800's. Today we've got all these city ordinances that tells people who they will live. Buy a home in a specific neighborhood, and you've got the Home Owners Assoc telling you what color you can paint your house, and what playground equipment you can have in your backyard, even tell you the type of materials you can use to build your privacy fence, (because a privacy fence is required), even to the type of pets you can have. Yes, it most certainly has to do with snobbery and if you're a bad neighbor who doesn't play by "all" the rules, your behavior will affect property values. Which I think is absurd to buy a two bedroom 1 1/2 bath, etc and pay $300K!! And that's being conservative. Rich people getting to make all the rules, on how the blue collar worker lives.
no sympathy . shit you ought to live in the woods its nice. better then living in the city . your never really homeless its a state of mind . life is what you make of it . living in a tent aint all that bad . i done it for years. peacefull .
the fact he still helps people like that and restrains himself from anger shows his great character. after all is much easier to help people who are grateful for it or 'deserve it' much harder is doing what this guy does. Im athiest, but this guy does christianity proud.
@@lascivious9559 You work for an employer and said employer pays unemployment benifits. Without the work there's no benefits so essentially yes you do.
i'm homeless, i want to work, more than anything i want to hold a job, i have no felonies and cant get a job washing dishes, its because most jobs come from huge corporations, they do not see a person , they see a record of mistakes and now even a less than perfect credit score, yes ,you have to have good credit to get a minimum wage part time job, i.e. wal mart, craker barrel, so you just fall through the cracks, i know its hard to believe until you've lived it.
Our church in Hawaii was running a food pantry. The girl running it wanted help setting up and taking down. I said the people getting the food should be doing that, but NO! She couldn't stand me after I said that. I see a lot of people in bed. Get up! We have taken in two homeless people, and at least one down-and-out relative. ALL ended badly. I can't make you make it in life- you have to do it!
I'd like to further-add ...some shipping container yards will sell shipping containers in a bulk quantities. Usually it's 27 ...27, 54, 81, 108, etc. And the price of each container is about $500.00 each, depending on size. That in combination to what it takes to insulate & protect them from wear & tear and climate, you're looking at a total of $1000-$1500, and that's on the low-end. And as far as fire prevention is concerned, it's harder to burn down Corten steel than wood & plastic.
VARIATION OF LIFE AND STATION FOR PEOPLE KICKED OUT It's a variation of living to live in a tent city - but loosing jobs and loosing homes then it's the only solution when you have no emergency shelter or familiars helping. Some also need new advice of life strategy or help against addiction. Why the government is not arranging emergency shelters with old train coaches for example or with just one old fabrication hall with containers or some coaches in it? It's so simple to have emergency shelters - safe 4m2 not more, but the rich are only laughing on making holidays on the beach "never having time"...
