i didnt water my zz plant for 6 weeks while on vacation (forgot to tell the person taking care of my plants) and it still held up perfectly lmaoo i can attest
These are similar in structure to Ceropegia woodii & their group. They have tubers/ rhizomes that swell when watered and don't need water super often. It kills me when I go to the plant department and see the state of half the plants sometimes. There are so many people that would love to have plants but simply can't afford them while perfectly gorgeous plants whither & languish down the plant isles. It's just wrong. So glad Krystal is showing a diff option of getting plants cheaply because let's face it plant prices are off the charts. I've spent thousands on mine. Granted I have about 130 ish plants but I share with family & friends. Just can't keep spending $$$ on plants. Over here in Cali our plant prices are exponentially more expensive than most of the US. Probably $5-20 more per plant depending on the size. Thank you Krystal!🫶💚🪴🌵🌿☘️🌱🍃
My child has one of these that has survived two years of neglect, it barely even has soil in the pot. We are going to look into how to improve its well-being tomorrow.
I have this beautiful plant. When I saw all the water in your plant, I wanted to cry. I'm happy you saved it. I water my plant every 1st of the month. I'll water less in the winter.
The stems that fell off can be propagated - use a sharp sterile blade to cut at a 45° angle above the rot. Let the cut end dry slightly then pop into a container of water, making sure no leaves are down in the water. Put in indirect light and in a month or so roots will grow! I've propagated stems that have fallen off but recently had to prop an entire plant that couldn't be saved because it was double watered and started rotting 😭
I just bought/rescued my first zz yesterday. It a Raven ZZ It was sitting in a pot of stagnant water. Brought it home and removed ALL the dirt and found that I have 6 plants. 😁
EL OH ELLLLL!! 🤣This video was a breath of fresh air among all the boring plant videos I’ve watched the last few days while I’ve been researching how to revive my zz. Thank you!
I just want you to know that you are God sent. I found myself constantly killing my plants and you are soo entertaining and informative that I have subbed since the first video. Thank you 😊💕 have a bless week everyone reading this!
And what to do if the pots you happen to own don't have holes.... am I suppose to be taking the little pots out of the big pots, water the plants, put them back into the big pots and then put them where they go every single watering day? Also, what do I do if my plants are directly in the big pretty no hole pots?!?! I need answers so my plants don't die and the knats and white mold do!
@@lunaballuna Take the plants out of the cover pots to water. Let them drain and then put them back. If I were you, I would take the plants out of the pots that don't have an inner pot or a hole in the growing pot and plant them in a pot with drainage holes. You can still use the outer pots as cover pots, which is the purpose for them.
@@lunaballunayes you supouse to do exactly as you say , if your plant is already in a pot with no holes in it grap a driller and make a few holes in the side next to the botom or if not heavy someone can lift it and you drill it it does not matter if the plant is inside .Having plants i like having kids or a pet if you do not want to do it properly do not do it at all ,and if you do not have time just own 2 or 3 so you can keep up .Why doing something if you are not going to do it correctly to the best of your ability .
I just found you and now im gonna up my plant game thanks to you! I always put extra water in the outside pot thinking it's good for the plant, now i know that bad smell should have been a give away :D
The problem with box stores is they water all the plants the same. Some that don't like a lot of water along with plants that like a lot of water.Thats why plants over a week old are usually dead.
After watching your videos for the first time last week. I went out and bought an aloe plant, a snake plant and a hosta. Now I need to take care of them and not kill them like I have done in the past. But I feel like I'm more educated. 😅 I've done pretty good with my succulents, cacti and basil plant.
My 7 year old showed my your Venus fly trap video and we have now watched them all he only liked the carnivorous plants but he now wants a snake plant so excited I have never been good with house plants but we live in an apartment so we are learning together
I love seeing you revive these plants, and I have learned a lot watching your videos! That said, I feel compelled to point out that "rescuing" any plant from a big box store will signal the increase of demand, which gives these stores incentive to do this to countless more plants. When you say rescue, do you mean that the store was about to chuck it in the bin? In other words, was this a free plant?
My local Lowe's don't water their plants regularly. It makes me so angry to see them dying on the shelves. I keep a bottle of water in my purse and try to save a few. But still I bring a few home like you.
I just saved one today! The first one I saw seemed totally rotten to mush so I passed it up then I saw a decent one to save. Super soaked so it gonna need to dry out!
So I killed my ZZ with some plant food…didn’t know it was a concentrate and she literally rotted like old fruit from the root up…slowly my beautiful stems fell off and when I dumped it to inspect, the rhizomes squished like old plums 🤢…it was kind of intriguing lol, but I have another now and she’s flourishing 😌
When I worked at lowes, I always removed the cover pots after the waterer came through. I got so sick and tired of doing that every day because they would just water regardless.
I thank you for that lol And when I went to Lowes to buy a Raven ZZ it was perfect but I got home and I checked it and ofc they never removed the nursery pot from the decorative one so water was just sitting there and there was a rotten root but everything is ok now lol
It's funny, I just bought one today after a person from my county nature preserves talked to me about them lol. I was wondering if the potatoes were normal or not, so thanks!
If you look at the stems, you can see when you need to water. They start to get wrinkly when they're really dry. You'll avoid rot and promote rizome growth.
I don’t remember if you have a video for monsteras but some of mine tend to like do downward like limp and also my pothos will be great and green then out of no where get yellow leaves or sometimes mold and I don’t water them like that idk if it’s our home or where we have them. HELP LOL 😂
❤🎁❤👏👏👏ME ENKANTA VERTE LINDA JOVENCITA. AMAS MUCHO LAS PLANTAS. APENAS EMPEZE HA BERTE. Y ME GUSTA. FELICIDADES POR LOS VIDEOS. ❤🎁GOD. B...HOUSTON TX.❤🎁❤🎁👏❤❤👏
Plants and I are not a good match, I either over water or not enough water. Any suggestion for best/hardiest plants to get when you dont have a green thumb?
I have no clue how my one plant (that isn't it's own ecosystem) is still alive, it lives off of paint water, old juice, milk, energy drinks, and like 99% of the time, nothing. it doesn't look like it should but it's alive and has been for a while. is this technically torture?
Mama….you can take the individual leaves themselves and put them in the soil or a cup of water that just touches the end and make more ZZ. I hope you didn’t throw away the one that broke off
I bought one recently from Walmart for 5$. It had 9 rotten and empty rhizomes. I saved it just in time Edit it is a raven, and stayed wet for 2 weeks after I changed the pot and changed soil and rinsed.
I have bought 3 different plants where they had water sitting in the bottom of the pot! 2 of them didn't touch the bottom luckily and had that root wick situation going on and the third was rescued in the nick of time!
I am have a love hate relationship with my ZZ plant. My son bought a small ZZ a few years ago …. I have been repotting it as it seems necessary . At the moment I have one absolutely HUGE pot of ZZ and a big pot of ZZ. It would take 2 strong men to move the HUGE pot. I feel like it has become too much of a good thing. I’m not sure what to do with them. I’m afraid I’m going to end up with 2 HUGE pots. I can’t just plant them or leave them outside. My son says they’re too big and he can’t have them in his room so they are taking up room in my dining room with a grow light. What can I do to tame their size. We started out with a 9 inch pot. I have a similar problem with my lucky bamboo. It looks like I need to repot that too.
😊 i have a baby that is growing under water. Plants are so different. Some love water some hate it. But she is nice and healthy 😯 i am scared to put her in soil 😅
