If most of my teachers at school could have explained the subjects on black board or white board as calm, clear, comprehensive and succinct as Dr. Berg does, I would have become a top scientist. Thanks very much Dr. Berg.
Someone close to me suffers from exactly this, and this will help them if they can listen. Whether we like it or not suffering is one of our major teachers, but far easier to listen to teachers like you. Thanks!
Yea, like Ron said, people are stuck in their own paradigm's. Don't get your hopes up that your loved one will take your advice. Diet is a lot like drugs; You reach rock bottom before you dig yourself out. If your loved one is relatively comfortable now, don't push it too hard, or they will ignore you out of spite, to their own detriment. Eventually, he/she will HAVE to make the change if the problems progress. That will be the time to be supportive and helpful, without any "I told you so" stuff.
Started taking Benfotimine recently... I didn't have any of the specific symptoms discussed but I did get a few stents in 3 different arteries. Diagnosed with type2 with A1C of 7.6. In the last two months I Dropped carbs, dropped 50lbs and got off my Diabetes meds with a daily blood sugar averaging high 80's to 90's... lots of tips and background from the good Doctor have really helped me understand the issues and the potential disease complications...
Sorry, didn't mention the mg on the Benfotiamine. If you want to see pretty good results take at least 250 mg four times per day, you can split it up 2, two times per day with meals or with a small amount of fat since this is a fat soluble vitamin.
I can't seem to find Benfotiamine with anything more than 150mg.... Does anyone have a link to a higher dosage? I live in Canada if that makes a difference.
While not on the pre-diabetic range, i decided to try the benfotamine, cuz of odd sensations in feet. In a short time (week or so)the sensations went away. Definitely due to your help. Thank you.
Useful information. My A1c was 5.8 five months ago and couldn’t read text on my cell phone. Low carb helped me to drop A1c to 5.4 in four months and I can read well now.
My recent A1C was 5.3%. And that was just from doing daily neighborhood walks and eating low carb (not strict keto). I'm sure it would go down even more if I cleaned up my diet a little more.
I’d love to hear your view on the A1C value being relevant to pre-condition patients who, post vaccination or infection, seem to have had their conditions ‘brought forward’ in time. I’m thinking kidneys, heart, lungs and brain diagnoses for example…
So, Dr. Berg - if I a taking (your) nutritional yeast, does that include the B1 VITAMIN you mentioned, or should I take that additionally to the nutritional yeast??
I am diabetic and want to start fasting so I can lower my A1C; however, I am taking metformin after meals doctor’s order. What is your suggestion on how to take metformin while fasting?
My highest was 5.6 in 2018. I only started getting this test in the end of 2017 though, and prior to 2017 I was a mess, so I'm sure it was higher. This month, mine is 5.2. I can't seem to get it below 5.2 though over the past year.
@@fidelcatsro6948 i dont know. You could always just get a glucose monitor and keep track of your daily blood sugar before and after meals, or get a continuous monitor. But the a1c is a 3 month average, so probably not.
Every one needs to take b1 additionally. Electrolytes as well. Especially potassium (4700mg a day). Best is Dr Berg's. Omega3 or wild caught cod liver oil also.
I must have watched about 3000 hours worth of Dr. Berg’s videos since 2017 and can’t quantify in words how valuable his content is. He is truly a National Treasure.
Your content has changed my life. I was diagnosed prediabetic. With IF and low carb lifestyle, I’ve got my A1C from 6.7 to 4.5. Diabetes won’t be a part of my life. Thank you Dr B
Been watching for years. Eating low carb, consuming proper fats and taking B1 has helped me greatly. Last A1c was 5.1 coming down from pre-diabetes level.
Becky, what was your a1c before 5.1? Mines is 5.8. I am on low carbs now and on my next 6 mo visit, I am believing for 5.0 to as low as 4.8. My 5.8 came from snacking too frequently on some high carbs. Cut the snacking and increased the fats. Using the 18 to 20 fasting window.
My highest A1C was 13.9! Now with healthy keto and intermittent fasting lifestyle, my A1C is 5.0 and no meds. Still taking Benfotiamine along with my nutritional yeast.
Thank you for this Dr. Berk. I got my A1C results back this week and my Dr. seemed shocked with it being a 4. I told him I've been on keto for 3 months and you could see the dollars fly out of his pockets lol. Now I know why he gave me that look. Thanks again
Thanks to your wonderful advice, my recent A1c was 5. I’ve given up sugar, cut daily carb intake below 20 grams and do intermittent fasting. You are my medical hero.

Awesome. Thank you so much for sharing! Have you shared your successes on Dr Berg's website or his Facebook group? Many people will greatly benefit from reading them 💞
Thanks Dr Berg, for sharing some knowledge. I've been following you & Dr Mindy. My A1C was 9.5 & in June went to get lab work done & 8.4, intermittent fasting & keto. I will be adding B1 to my daily supplement. I'm claiming healing from insulin resistance.
I have reduced drastically from A1C 7.3 to 6 and then to 5.5 recently. Have been following Intermittent Fasting (16:8) with minimal carbs and portion control from last 2 years. Lost about 20lbs. Thanks Dr. Berg for all the educational and motivational videos. I understood the root cause and was able get rid of diabetes which I thought was impossible and irreversible

Thanks doc , I had an A1c of 6 without any diabetes running in my family . I’m overweight but not obese . when did more testing I was diagnosed with sleep apnea . Now I’m into cpap and lost 14 pounds in three months and my a1c test is next week. Fingers crossed 🤞
@@andrefecteau thank you , yes I started intermittent, workout 6 days a week, yoga and having only complex carbs . Everything helps in a way . Had sleep apnea for so many tests and even without knowing it. It’s a bummer
It does give you enough for "The day".. But if you are already experiencing Hb Glycation, then you need this Fat soluble form of B1, to make sure it is readily available for your soft tissues, Brain and nerves whenever required
Minimum 600mg a day in total. I try to have at least 1-2000mg a day in total. And I am doing something something more stressful, I'll increase the dose.
@@curiousjo3939 Only conditions are where your liver is failing because Benfotiamine is converted into active Thiamine by the liver primarily.. Basically reducing the load on liver a bit
Excess blood sugar decreases the elasticity of blood vessels and causes them to narrow, impeding blood flow. This can lead to a reduced supply of blood and oxygen, increasing the risk of high blood pressure and damage to large and small blood vessels. High blood pressure is a risk factor for heart disease. 👍
Very, very, very enlightening!! If people only knew. I'm sitting here without a blood-sugar meter when I think everyone should own their own meter and know "what's going on" with their blood sugar. I thought that measuring fasting glucose was all you had to do. Not so.
Just wanted to share my success story, all because of your valuable contents. I'd been recognized as t2d 7 month ago with A1c 7.6. Right after 3 month OMAD besides low carb diest, A1c dropped at 5.7 and lost about 45 lbs. My A1c was 5.6 last week and still working on it. Thank you so much Dr. Berg
My A1C is 5.7 but my glucose is 90. I am extremely active, run 20+ miles per week, cycle, lift weights, etc. My BMI is great, and I am in great shape.I drink tons of water and I eat pretty well. How much should I worry about my A1C?
Thank you❤Dr. Berg a couple days ago i received my Benfotiamine B1 300 mg is 1 -- 300 mg enough?Thank you! Your Amazing and Beautiful inside and out Love you and your Wife!❤💖❤💖❤💖❤🙏👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What a wonderfull video......what are we getting tested people? Lets all say it together : A.....1.....C Eat well and appropriate, do well and appropriate, think well and appropriate.....the rest is history, as life is short. :))
Dear Doctor Berg, I do not agree with many of the statements that you make in this video. My understanding is that it's not the raised glucose that causes endothelial dysfunction. It is the result of raised insulin levels, which result in the production of high numbers of small LDL particles that penetrate the endothelial lining, and start the formation of plaque. It's the raised insulin levels that lead to the events that damage the inner lining of the blood vessels (arteries and arterioles) as well as high triglyceride levels. I also agree that glycation is damaging, and may block insulin reaching the insulin receptors of the cells and allowing glucose to enter. This deprives high energy needs cells of the central nervous system, such as those of the Hippocampus for example, of the amount of energy that they need to function properly... Not a good situation, and not surprisingly, memory starts to fail... This is my understanding of the underlying pathogenic mechanisms....and it's not as simple as blaming everything on raised glucose levels. Raised insulin levels precede high glucose levels by many years, and that is the time during which serious pathological processes are occurring without our awareness of the problem. We should focus our attention on Insulin levels from an early age, since children are now developing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Something that did not exist when I was at Medical school.
But BW includes only HbA1C and blood glucose levels. Why dont they stress upon getting insulin levels tested? Is there even a test for that? I heard of somthing called HOMA IR which gives a better picture. Dr. Sten Ekberg explained it better.
Yes I am benefiting from All your content . The information on your wife’s bloodwork regarding cholesterol helped me understand my lab results better. I have been suffering with chronic shingles for my years . My blood work in feb was the highest it could be for this virus . I’ve been very unwell . You explained the pain of shingles and location around the ribs and that this pain I endure is the reason for my deep sadness and dark thoughts Thank you Dr Berg ❌⭕️💐
What if a slightly elevated A1C has nothing to do with how you eat? Can prior issues like Epstein Barr (or Mono), autoimmune issues, etc. have an affect on a person's A1C? I'd love to hear more about non-food related reasons A1C can be off. Thanks! Great video 😊
Good I'll be having an A1C done here in the next 4 to 5 days 2 years ago my ac1 was real good but I added some carbs earlier this year cut them out now I hope I get a good result thank you for your show on ac-1
Could you make a video explaining how our body converts Glucose into Fructose, so if you are having a dense protein food chances are that part of the carbs already in there will ended up as fructose via body conversion
Ginseng will not change blood sugar like that at all - YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING else - PERIOD What you are saying is total nonsense; even berberine and citrus bergamot drastically outperforms a meaning herb like ginseng for sugar. Bergamot eat on empty stomach, good luck with berberine's horrible bioavailability
Just had the previous day an eye exam primarily for my "pre- Type 2 diabetes" and the ophthalmologist said that I had wonderfully boring eyes! He showed me the images from that part of the exam, my retinas looked like they came out of a college medical book!
Dr. Berg, Can you make a video about naturally boosting your mood and dopamine due to loss of hormones in post menopausal women ? I noticed that I suddenly became unhappy for no reason and I would like to correct that naturally, not with medication.
Are you doing healthy keto and intermittent fasting already? Using supplements like vitamin E complex, b1 as benfotiamine, enough electrolytes, especially potassium (4700mg a day), Omega3, ect?
Sonia, I started taking Nature’s Way DIM plus and it’s been really helping with what would have been peri menopause. I lost my period and started get night sweats for the first time earlier in the year. I was losing sleep since I kept waking up multiple times a night and knew I couldn’t function like this. So I found that product and it’s been a life saver! Within a day or so, my period came back. The night sweats stopped. The anxiety decreased along with the ruminating at night,
Can you talk about seamoss (both types..purple and gold) and it’s a new all natural weight loss product out called Puralean.. do you know about it or can you talk about it? And Vertigo? Why and how to cure it
I hafta disagree with you on that! I’ve been on a low carb diet (NEVER CHEATED) and i have a high A1C of 8 was up to 11 last year! I’ve been a keto’r since 2014 and my glucose has been up and down for the last 3 years, I’m talking off the charts! I’ve taken everything you’ve suggested as well as IF! I don’t do OMAD anymore, I’m doing two meals a day because, I’m on two different insulins & I have to have food with both! So, what do I do now? I’ve recently been diagnosed with severe Diverticulosis, a med sized sliding hiatal hernia and acid reflex! I feel defeated to say the least! If any of you don’t know what diverticulosis or diverticulitis is caused by, its caused by high fat low fiber! Idk how it all pans out, but all I know now, it’s extremely painful!
This is what helped me after being pretty much prediabetic as a teen, chronic fatigue and IBS. I live off fruit now as main calorie source, lots of greens, occasional meat. Keep my ratios to 80% carbs (from fruit mostly), 10% fat, 10% protein on average. I have done this for most part for last 10 years. A1C is 4.7.
Have you checked for specific nutrients deficiencies? Usually potassium is very missing. One needs 4700mg a day, ect. I use a nutrients app like cronometer to check my nutrients and improve my health. I use b1 as benfotiamine and Dr Berg's electrolytes formula to prevent any pain. Nutritional yeast tablets and 20000ius of vitamin D3 (with k2 from the Dr Berg's formula) also for the nervous system as well. It helped me a lot in so many ways.
@@groovyhippiechick Sounds rough. I hope you're taking kelp for iodine, to help your thyroid. Brewers yeast often seems to help a bit with energy...2 tbsps per day. Lots of green leafy veges plus food that supplies you with enuf omega 3 fatty acids, like organic eggs, sardines etc. Gentle deep breathing and qi gong could help too. Chromium can help with blood sugar issues. Maca for the hormones. Dr Stin Ekberg has a good little talk on RU-vid about thyroid issues.
Liquid proteins, like shakes usually have their fat and fibre taken away, which means the protein going through the system very quick which may mean only 50 percent or there abouts of the protein is utilized. Many smart doctors say eat your food dont drink it, unless there is a specific need and necessatiy I personaly prefer to eat my calories (for fat, protein).
I get white coat syndrome. My BP and BG show high at the doctor’s office. But at home my BP is 120’s/70’s and my A1C comes back a 4.9. You can’t rely on 1 or 2 tests a year for BP and BG. Test yourself.
Take your a1c down to 5.1 or lower and you won’t have to ask that question your 5.7 is pre diabetes you want to be under 5.6 (under), I’m not trying to be funny or sarcastic I took mine from 6.2 down to 5.1 after my doctor said that it would be hard to do it without medication…I see my doctor on June 12 he doesn’t know that I’ve lost over thirty lbs since I’ve last seen him in early February…Get luck and have a blessed day.
My A1C is 5.8 on august, so decided to do keto and IF after watching so many of the video on this channel. start weight is 212lbs, and now on november my weight is 180lbs, so i lost about 32lbs but my last test show elevated A1C to 6.1, i cut all sugar and flour, eat very low carb, alot of vegetables, good protein and fat. I am on the low carborydrate diet, I do the intermitten fast from 7pm to 1pm, I eat one meal sometimes two meals a day I drink a lot of black herbal teas, in between! But when I test my blood in the morning it is always high, like 105 or 130 depends on if I eat meat in my dinner. I also have a lot of gas digestive problems as well. I used to excercise and take long walks. But I cannot do it anymore because of sciatic nerve problems. I just wish that if I can get a needle into this damn nerve to see if it would help, so I can get back to my normal routine. My doctor keep saying my sciatica is cause because of diabetes, even though I have no symptoms of it and she never tested me for it either. I am so fed up because I am doing everything that I possibly can to stay healthy but still feel like crap. I gave up because I don't know whats going or what to do anymore.

Hi Dr. Berg you are always very helpful. I have come to know that new normal standards are between 7 to 8 A1c. What is your opinion about this? Please explain, thanks.
Indeed a1c is important. But it is not only red blood cells reacting to glucose. Also lipo proteins receptor get blocked by glucose. LDL is not recognized by the liver and will stay in the blood vessels. And you will have a cholesterol problem. Yes cholesterol problems are in fact sugar poisoning. Low carbs are the solution. Dr Berg, big thanks and please don't ever stop your mission.
Was ticked off w/my PCP for awhile and only went for an A1c today after 7 months (6.1 ) I was a 5.5 previously but after my oral surgery July 2020 I knew the hospital disregarded my concerns and damaged me via an continuous IV as I was fasting and they didn’t like it. I’m totally fat adapted so fasting is never an issue. 40% of my tongue was removed so I wasn’t going to eat/chew anyway. It’s been a year now and I still seem to be having glucose issues. I take benfotiamine but 1 in AM and 1PM as I know one must have a fat with it. How about when I’m fasting? I try to do two 41 hr fasts a month besides some 16-20 during the week. Tomorrow I’ve completed 4 years of keto and off all 17 Rx I was on as of April 2019.
