In Nov 2018, my A1C was measured as 14. I was put on insulin shots and medication. After this, I made huge changes to my diet, reducing my intake of high net carbohydrate foods dramatically. Two and a half months later A1C went down to 5.4. I was so surprised. Off the insulin shots and down 60 pounds after 4.5 months.

What are the high net carbohydrates? The high net carbohydrates are foods that I should avoid eating? And if I avoid eating these high net carbohydrates and eat more fruits and vegetables and drink nothing but water every day including fasting will this reduce my A1C level ?

I am 71 yrs of age. In 3 months I reduced my A1c reading from 6.9 to 6 without any medication. I had already stopped drinking regular soda with sugar a few years ago and almost ate no bread even before that. But I still needed to get off all the sugary processed food, including flour, pasta and rice, and any high-carb fruits. I started exercising at the gym 3 days a week, lost 10 Ibs. and tried some intermittent fasting. I don't know what helped me the most to lower my blood sugar, but I will continue with this formula. Sadly my mother died of diabetes complications. But who says diabetes can't be beaten. Thank you for this video.

I had an A1C of 15.7 and a glucose count of 467. This was on 15 May 2019. I went keto omad and after a week my glucose was at 123. In 3 more days I was at 100. I then went carnivore and my glucose has been running between 75 and 95. I have started longer fasts and just finished a 3 day fast. I refused metformin and insulin. I also started walking and I train with kettlebells and body weight movements. I'm 62. My glucose seems to have leveled out now during a fast which tells me my body has reset and my liver is producing glucose more like it should. During an earlier 2 day fast it got down to 67 although I felt absolutely fine and had a killer kettlebell workout that day. I only check glucose twice a week now. My next A1C check is on 12 August. Big pharma can go to hell.

I was diagnosed with A1C of 6.7 a year ago, and it took me months to understand what was happening to me, one dr saying it is okay, the other putting me on Metformin. The next blood test after working hard on my part to cut the sugar out of my diet was only lowered to 6.5 and at first I was very disheartened. I had to appreciate the good things that were happening to me, swelling and infection down, walking without fear, disposition greatly improved, and sleeping much better. So, thank you for telling me to have a little more patience and also to tell me I don't need to check it every morning when I rise.

My first Hb1Ac on Sept 3rd was 91mmol/L = 10.5%. My second was on 4th November and came back at 69mmol/mol = 8.5%. Nurse wanted to increase my metformin dose - but since I had not taken any of it this seemed silly to me! I feel I am well on track to achieve an Hib1Ac around about the 53mmol/mol level - 7% - quite soon. Thanks for your video which has been a big help. I follow KETO and OMAD for about a month now. Prior to that I reduced carbohydrates and used IF, but not sufficiently to have much impact on the Hb1Ac. Ergo I think I will not need the metformin. I have no symptoms from the high Blood Sugar and have noticed some improvements in my skin. I'd had back acne for most of my life - from teens until a few weeks ago [ 57 now] but is has almost gone away now. Losing loads of belly fat too especially under my ribs which is also a sign things are working. Exasperated by the medics who push their drugs and do not listen to my experience at all.

When I was diagnosed as a diabetic my average glucose was 350. My doctor told me to start with metformin. I tried it for 2 days and then discarded it. I lowered my BG from 350 to average of 100 in 2 weeks by starting LC diet and IF without any exercise. So, it really doesn't take a huge effort or cost to control your BG as long as you are disciplined

Thank you for your EXCELLENT content. I have learned so much from you. At 51 years old, I weighed in at 372 and suffered from chronic pain, migraines and no energy. Life was miserable and I felt hopeless things would ever change. I started the Whole30 on Oct 15, 2019 and ate low carb for that first month. The change was miraculous. On Nov 15th (After the 30 days),I transitioned to keto. My starting A1C was 5.8 and fasting blood sugar 117. On Jan 29, 2020 (3.5 months from my changed eating), my A1C dropped to 4.8 and my fasting glucose to 98. In that same timeframe, I lost 64 lbs. Changing the way I eat has given me my life back. ❤️

100 days ago I went to my Primary Care group with a BG of 452 and an A1C of 14. At the time I did not know what was wrong with me. I knew that I had a family tendency to become diabetic. My two siblings both have diabetes. I was urinating hourly around the clock. I was unable to ride my bicycle very far without leg and other body cramps. In two months I had lost 14 lbs without trying to lose weight. My PA immediately put me on Metformin and daily insulin injections. I cut all added sugars in my food completely and ate only white toast as my only white carb. After a few weeks I cut out the white bread completely. My diet includes eggs, beans, greens, avocados, some healthy meat, butter, cheese, an occasional sweet potato, and lots of nuts, . My only fruits were berries, such as blueberries. Two weeks ago I stopped taking insulin completely. My A1C test a few days ago was 6.8. As described in the video I expect it to drop considerably by the time of my next appointment with my PA in two months. Along with the vastly improved A1C I realized other health benefits. My vision had been deteriorating a lot over the past two years. It was a huge thing to have my clear vision return completely within a few weeks of going on this eating regimen along with exercise. I am back to cycling over 100 miles each week with no muscle cramping and I have plenty of energy without taking supplements such as gels during a bike ride. This approach to eating works!

I'm eating ultra-low carb diet (KETO) at 30 g of carbs a day. No fasting. I've gone from an A1C reading of 7 to 5.5 in three months. My doctor called me personally and could not stop praising the drop. He was in shock. Personally, it was not that difficult. I still ate well & was full. I don't like starving myself. I will continue this way of eating for the rest of my life, since it also has helped with my auto-immune body pain. My cholesterol levels are normal. For everyone out there, please note that if you start eating like you were in the past, the diabetes & weight will come back w/ a vengeance. Stay healthy & safe.

I started IF/Keto and progressed to OMAD/Keto within 2 weeks, and working-up to 30 minutes of mild aerobic stationary bicycle per day. In 30 days I lost 22lbs, my blood glucose is down to "normal levels". My BP and resting pulse are now at "optimal" levels. My pain pain and swelling (inflammation/arthritis) has receded to manageable levels and are getting better day by day. I stopped taking the medications at 30 days and feel better each day. I feel 10 years younger already (I'm 59)! Thank you for educating me on insulin resistance and how to stop and reverse the damage. I am all in on this lifestyle change. Back in 2013 when I was first diagnosed it was 9.0. I was on metformin 500mg twice a day. 3months after it was down to 5.6. shed 30% of my weight, exercised and watched my diet. While I was still on medication my results were between 5.5-5.8 but when it came down to 5.2 reduced med to 500/day. Several months later I stopped taking metformin. My results were the same. Almost the same as when I was on med. I eliminated teff(gluten free whole grain with lower glysemic index). but I still used to eat 3times a day and also snacked. Then I heard about intermittent fasting and keto diet. So that did the magic trick for me. ever since then, my A1C hovered around upper 4.0's and lower 5.0's. A year ago my A1C was 5.0. since around 2017 I eat twice a day and on a low carb diet. It wasn't an easy ride but am there.

When it was 380 my wife just about dialed 911. When I found out my A1c was 10 I got real scared. I stopped all the candy, brownies, doughnuts, sugar in the coffee and now I try to eat low carb and low sugar. I got it from 282 to 273 to 158 and I just checked it at 130. I know it goes up and down depending, but from when I started to now I'll take 130 over 380. It's going to be a struggle for me, but at least I know I can make it happen.

Why can't a Dr simply tell you this when you visit after a test? Straight forward, to the point. They say here is the number, here is the prescription for meds. No treatment plan, no explanation, just weird. I had to find your video, subscribe and just feel like I'm getting better explanations for this that your Dr should tell you up front. No, I'm not taking meds, just following strict keto, fasting and IF and need to be patient.

Since it takes 3-4 months to lower on keto, what happens if in that time, we eat a real sugar dessert? Does it take another couple months to go lower again because of the one dessert?
@MarkSmith-js2pu
@MarkSmith-js2pu 3 года назад
Not a doc or nutritionist, but if your goal is to lower A1c, I think it’s a safe bet that will slow your progress. But if you totally buy into the low carb lifestyle and do that for a few months, you are not going to want that dessert, and if you taste it, I bet you won’t find it as enjoyable as it used to. I don’t think you have to make yourself miserable and feel deprived though. Portion control is a big part of all this too.

Depends how much and how long you exercise. If you exercise daily, less than a month. With HIIT even less. Sweating is also very important. Hard exercise seems to burn up the sugar or glycosolated red cells at a faster rate. Marathon runners or triathletes almost never have diabetes. That should tell us something. In my personal experience taking up hard cycling daily will vastly speed up the process. I ride 10-15mi/day and whenever my numbers get out of whack I found that hitting the cycling harder each day lowers the numbers within a week or two. Not to 4.8 but close enough. Consider doing an all-day cycling trip or a short 2-3 bike packing trip. Pedal and sweat all day and you will see improvement. Cycling burns 600 calories/hour and after half a day, you are burning any and all reserves the body can find.

I had health insurance in Israel, but I barely knew the language so I never got checked out. I return to the states find out I have like Diabetes or maybe I was pre.. I'm 30 years old , and I'm like oh hell no... I go home throw everything out of my fridge, and legit go to the store and buy all greens. 4 months I dropped like 30lbs... more probably. now my Alc is like 5.1 Problem solved 🤣. year later, I put back on the weight. eliminated all soft drinks. Eat a lot of nuts, greens, kale, spinach... My blood pressure a year ago 180/90, High cholesterol , Alc 6.2.. Today blood pressure 120/90, Cholesterol still high I think 🤔, Alc still at 5.2

Thank you so much for all your lectures/teaching - you help me enormously! This lecture has been especially helpful in setting realistic expectations. I cut sugar, bad fats and processed food almost completely about a year ago but didn’t lose much weight, and checking bg levels w/finger sticks caused those finger tips to go numb so I stopped checking. Still my A1C went from 800’s to 700’s and my doc told me about and prescribed the Free Style Libre 14 day monitor. Now I can measure bg as often as I like and adjust my food intake accordingly. I still wasn’t losing wt like I’d hoped so began water fasting 1/2 of each week and eating 1 meal/day the other half and started losing about 2 pounds a week and lost a total of 75 pounds. Although I am not a beast - don’t have to eat b/c grelin’s been activated and I can do really hard things I began finding it really hard (seemingly impossible) to water fast and in about 3 wks gained back 15 pounds, only eating the same healthful foods, one meal a day most 6/7 days a week. My bg has also been much harder to keep between 70 and 100 on this regimen. Apparently, for me, water fasting is also necessary and just needs to be part of how I do life as a 73 year old with Type II Diabetes. Thank you again for your teaching and inspiration!

so what does insulin resistance do in regards to red blood cells........once your sugar levels are low does that mean you are non diabetic? Does insulin resistance still exist even though you bring down the A1c to safe levels? For example......if my A1c drops to high 4's or low 5's and I consume something with carbs will it spike like when I was a diabetic a1c 6.9?.....does it take a while for the insulin resistance to go away as well? I do realize when I return to healthy levels my situation can reverse if I dont stay on my keto friendly diet....

Just watch his videos and stop buying processed foods. Read the labels to track carbs. Good luck
