@ImperialUprising glad you brought up that scene. I could have started that engine 1,000 times and gotten 1,000 different starts and starting sounds. The new "out of FSX" engine software they are running is amazing. The software actually acts like a real combustion engine, even taking into effect torque, blade stalling and other numerous features never seen before in any combustion engine in FSX.

Wow, words cannot describe the amazement I experience watching this. The detail has to be one of if not THE highest I have ever seen. This is truly a wonderful piece of work. Too bad I'll never be able to enjoy it to its full potential on this computer :(

@topwing93 on the MK1a, the airplane has a hydraulic pump. You need to hit G, to set the system to UP, then hit shift+G to pump the gear up. You will have to hit it multiple times. On the MKIIA and MKIIB, you simply press G.

A lot of why the sound is the way it is is due to the difference in the stacks versus the later versions, and Kristenburnout rightly states. Also note that the Merlin in the MKII and MKIa Spitfires is significantly different than the later mark Spitfires you are used to seeing. One other issue is that often when recording a Merlin,most audio devices are not able to capture it correctly as the mics peak. Special precautions were taken with the A2A recordings to avoid this, and thus are crisp.

nice vide man holy shit. I keep playing 4:20 over because of the nice engine shake. Really realistic. I wish they made shaking of the aircraft for all other planes in FSX as well.

@topwing93 you have to pump it manually after raising the manifold, atleast the MkI. MkII has automatic hydraulic pump to raise the gear for you.

@TheDeltaFlight I used a slight shake to randomize the background elements and then EZDok. It helped that the field was a "grass strip" type.

@Lazengogh nobody is complaining about performance. If however you suffer from any CTDs if you get it, be sure to get the texture replacement set over at the A2A forums. I find the Spit running slightly less than the default C172.

2 blade is fixed pitch propeller (it says there). Constant speed is actually variable pitch propeller with the governor to keep it running at set (constant) rpm. This setting can be and should be changed during different phases of flight.

Im not sure if i like my P-47 or spitfire better. The spitfire has an electric starter system while P-47 has electrically driven inertial starter which can be annoying to get the engine running. Im also trying to get a hang of the manual pump gear system, but im working on it, Ive only logged half an hour and im already in love with this airplane.

@JumpStartation you can blame that on me. I almost always close my canopy when starting the aircraft. Keeps a lot of the crap from getting inside the cockpit. As a matter of fact, a lot of pilots had the habit of putting on their oxygen masks when starting to keep all those fumes out.

@rOEN911 I would recommend checking out Full Terrain Experience by Orbx, Real Environment XTreme (for greater looking environment such as clouds, water) and then filling in everything in between with Ground Environment XTreme and Ultimate Terrain X. At that point take your pick between various addons from Aerosoft, A2A and numerous other videos which we feature. We always try to feature the best software for FSX available.

@valkyrie321 Also how do I keep the engine from overheating on landing, when the gear is blocking the radiator air intake, after I land I always have the engine boiling over and I always have a couple of damaged cylinders.

Do you got this plane? Because in such an early spit, the triple-ejector exhaust sound a lot different than the later versions with "normal" exhaust stacks. Also, in the sim, the engine sounds rough, it's just the video quality that is a bit poor.

@rOEN911 it's a shame you don't like FSX. Some addons out there really enhance and change FSX. FTX, combined with GEX and other amazing products along with some good addons such as this Spitfire completely change the look, feel and flow of how we simulate.

@valkyrie321 Well it's a little "click" and then suddenly it seems to run totaly smooth and sounds like my car. A very dampened sound and no engine that goos "put-put-put BRAAAAR-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" if you get the idea. Just a few searches on youtupe will show you what i mean. It just goes from off to smooth buzzing, and that ain't right. That is how i feel, after having seen and heared quite a few Spitfire startups. IL2 has mods (HSFX) that sound 100% more realistic.

@jgdogg441 that's a shame mate. Some of the new tweaks floating out there really make FSX playable. Hopefully in the future you will be able to enjoy FSX.
