@ZAIBYR Loving the headset it's so comfortable and omds the sound is insane, only thing that's confusing me is the star symbol and the dobly headset one. Idk what they do or mean?

@@elmucho-ll7bo headset is for dolby mode on console and star is for passthrough on pc for things like dolby atmos or windows sonic. However, it appears atmos was recently enabled on ps5 as well.

You only would use that with the Xbox One or PS4/5 (with the extra adapter on the 5)

@@lnarrador1969 yes i fixed it , if you play call of duty or any game , just go to the game chat and make sure that Option on the Communication device. Also with astro you dont need to use the optical. Make the out put on the desktop on game chat and input on astro voice. Let me know if it work with you 🙌🏽❤️

@@lnarrador1969 also with same Solution that i told you before make sure in game sitting go to audio then game chat > make it Communication device not system device. This is the point to make the game chat inside the game as a communication device.

man my issues cleared up when i ditched the optical cable. i think that is used for linking them in series? it's extra functionality for sound guys if needed..? but for just personal gaming and music, use usb? im going with that. just got mine today XD

Optical cable is great for if you have an xbox to plug it into, then you can change between focused volume from your xbox and pc. I do this with my a40tr headset + mixamp.

@@lnarrador1969 yes. Ended up buying Dolby Atmos for headphones ($11). Then changed the mixamp settings to the start. Then found an EQ preset I really like so my sound quality has actually been phenomenal. Really please with it

And did u stay on voice or game? And which preset r u using?

Hey, sorry my answer is really late but I bought the same headset today and i got the same issue. I searched how to fix that and someone told me to put the headset in the base station and then u press the dolby surround button and on the right side the "game" button together and hold it until you dont see the LED anymore. So it resetet my headset and when i opened the program, I updated it and then it worked. Before, it always stopped at 33% and the update failed. Let me know, if it works with ur headset

its seriously insane to me that after being roasted by my friends for not hearing anything, i change from GAME to VOICE and suddenly EVERYTHING is better. I'm with y'all on this one.

@@ginsol ayo what?!?! for me when i use game i cant hear anything and i cant load videos on yt or listen too spotify, ik it sounds weird asf but when i switched to voice now i can hear and my videos load and spotify too.

@@hampinehamparte1697 Ive been using these years now and i found the best set up, go to windows app store on pc and download dobly access, pay the 10 bucks or whatever for dobly atmos for headphones, its a spatial sound program, once u download right click on the speaker icon on your start bar and select spatial sound dobly atmos, dont use the free windows sonic it sucks, u can use this program on any headphones, its amazing the difference, linus tech tips even tested this against hardware surround headphones and atmos software was way more accurate, but not just for gaming, the movie and music settings are amazing as well. the difference is staggering, make sure u leave the surround on the headphones off(on the base station u will see a star symbol), also on your A50 software u can look up some youtube videos for best EQ settings, all this together and these headphones will blow your mind. sorry for the wall of text😁

@@bluex7delta I ended up buying the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless… amazing / perfect headphones for multi-systems. I highly recommend. I had Mixamp for years now but it doesn’t even come close.

That is for Mac users. It is in the default settings app (Settings > Sound > Output & Input).

no, the optical cable is only for console use. you do not need it at all for pc

Pretty sure there are sound cards with optical in/out ports, just shop around. MicroUSB should work fine, though.

So what's the point of the optical cable in the box then?

I have had these for years, u need to turn off the surround on the headphones(star symbol on base station shows u in stereo) go to windows store and download dobly access, which has dobly atmos for headphones, after install right click on the speaker icon on windows start bar, go to spatial sound, and select Dobly atmos for headphones(NOT windows sonic it sucks) then look up a youtube video on best EQ settings for the Astro command center, doing both these steps and u will get amazing sound quality, not just for gaming and surround, it will make everything sound better, and dobly atmos program has great EQ profiles for movies and music too, the game one is set to hear footsteps but u can turn that feature off cause it does mess with the volume of other things to achieve this, i just use the movie preset for gaming anyway so its no big deal. Dobly access does cost a one time fee(10 bucks i think), but its super worth it, cause u can use it on any headphones and make them way better, u could make some 10 dollar ear buds sound acceptable with it. I even bought the lauded corsair virtuoso and couldnt get it to sound as great as the A50+dobly atmos program

Its a bit late but there is an adapter/splitter >>> HDMI In / HDMI Out + Optical out

So I use optical to the base station and then input from the headset in and it works fine. You just have to choose optical out as your window your output source ( for me that realtek digital output )

Headphones is for audio, earphone is for the mic. Notice how under earphone it says "Astro A50 Voice"

The headset is connected to the base station wirelessly, so as long as you have the base station connected with your pc using micro USB it will work

Have an Xbox but I don’t think the plug-in is the same

yes optical is better than usb you gotta select realtek digital output

blvckfall i am going to try this when I get home. The sound quality sound quality is shit on pc compared to sound quality on Xbox. It’s probably because I’m running USB audio instead of optical audio.

im sure im a little late here but i did find a way that works half the time and im positive its button position thats the issue. press dolby and game at the same time like they said. hold for 25 seconds. let the headset die. put it on the station. do not let it go into standby mode by placing it on its side.@@measho07

@@ohhail yeah I did. I can’t remember exactly what I did. I remember I had to reset the headset. By holding 2 different buttons at once for like 10 seconds. Lots of googling and trial and error. It was such a hassle.

@@robmuehlhausen85 I seem to be able to use the headset without even having to update, so I may just leave them like that for the time being unless I run into issues down the line

If the my is too close it maybe cause this problem. I would rather look up on their homepage or contact them via e-mail etc.

I would change microphone device to A50 Voice

Some say yes and others say no..but astro says the only difference is that one is wired and the other is wireless
