AA battery to USB Power adapter! Overview

I want to have constant power to a microphone attached to a recording setup, but the microphone takes a single AA battery. Having to monitor and change batteries as needed in this situation is irritating, so I went searching for something that I could use to convert AA to wall power in some way. I found this T-HOT AA to USB power adapter that achieves what I wanted. It allows you to replace that AA battery and then connect a USB power brick for constant power. Very cool! They sell from 1 AA to 4 AA converted to USB power.

So great, I kinda knew how it should be done but needed some confirmation on the USB portion. I kept thinking, "oh this shouldn't be so simple, I must be missing something". But it is pretty straightforward. I just hadn't found the USB adapter part yet. Thanks so much for the help.

Cool, I'm glad the video was helpful for you! Yeah, it's a great solution for some devices that use AA. I've been using this in my microphone without issue since making the video so it seems reliable.

the plug (transformer) must have the output voltage of the number of batteries, right? So for 1x AA 1.5 volt battery, the plug must have an output of 1.5. For 2x AA 1.5 volt batteries, the plug must have an output of 3, and so on, correct?

Yes, the USB portion of all this is simply meant an easily accessible input power source. I'm going to take a guess that if you don't care about USB power input you can find a similar device that does DC to DC conversion with a barrel style AC adapter.

Not sure what you mean by mini USB. What power source do you have that outputs mini USB? I've never seen anything like that. Maybe you mean a smartphone with micro USB? Only some phones with "USB OTG" can output power through their port. That would depend on your phone and what it's rated to output. I have a Zoom H1. With current firmware it can be powered by USB and also connect directly to computers to act as a microphone and be powered by the port. I don't think you'd need to do this unless it's a special case of some type.

@@TECHiSuppose zoom h1 has this old mini USB port type and thanks to you i know it can be running non stop from USB charger :) this is now my main PC mic
