Even I care for you was written (by Missy) and original recorded in 96 , they re recorded it for the self titled album . That’s why the third album was praised by a lot of critics because they felt the sound was more befitting of who she was evolving into . Had she not been focused on acting the album would’ve dropped earlier . Like go back and see how fast her evolution was once she got away from you know who .
I must have said DAMN! about 5 times throughout this song. I’ve heard this song a million times and I loved and was almost brought to tears hearing Whitney sing it. But this was the only time I could FEEL what this song meant. She snapped. Rest in peace beautiful

I hear people say things about her voice sometimes but her rendition on the National anthem is better than most of the “sangers” Aaliyahs is definitely top 5 executed eloquently without over singing with just the right amount of power 🙌🏼

@@thetruthvocalize9586 Dione Warwick even said in an interview Aaliyah was very vocally gifted , she just needed to trust her voice . Aaliyah started experimenting with her falsetto , and that’s what she became known for so people love to play her like she didn’t have power in her vocals

Aaliyah was brought up Motown singers that’s why the Isley bros still champion her covers of their songs til this day . She’d been in vocal training and performing arts schools. Listen to Missy and Tim’s interviews. Most of her songs were recorded when she was 15-18 then she sought to change up her sound with the last album . Missy even said I care for you was recorded like 96-98 (that’s when missy wrote it , her career really started writing and helping produce for Aaliyah) so just a few years after this . Her last album was also slated to come out late 90s so she wanted to act so they pushed it back . That’s what also caused the rift between her and Tim , the uncles shady practices with the record label. Her uncle has not only her catalg but , Tim , Missy , Magoo, and ginuwines amongst others.
The kids at my school have sing the anthem on the intercom every Monday they should look at this aaliyah has such a power voice I swear the kids @ my school can't sing.it's a regular school though not a performing one just saying

Michelle Williams can sing. But her and Aaliyah are not on the same level. Vocally Aaliyah would beat her. Michelle’s tone isn’t great, sounds like a baby kitten in heat.
