You should start an "indie month" wherein you react to the individual albums of Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Lucky Ali, and groups like Bombay Vikings, Bombay Rockers, Sanam. This is what revolutionized pop music in the 2000s.

It was even surprising for us when the song came out because the singer Shubha Muggal is a renowned Classical singer so we never expected her to sing such a peppy high tempo song.... 90s pop songs were a rage. It's heartbreaking to see the kind of songs produced these days.

Ab ke Saawan has a great sentimental value for 90s kids.. Its THE Rain song for us. Also, Shubha Mudgal, a classical veteran, doing a quasi-rock song about rains totally knocked our boots off!!! Not to mention the amazing video by Pradeep Sarkar, who made films like Parineeta and Mardaani.

The 90s had the best independent Hindi music ever!! So many pop stars and bands... Now its just Bollywood... Sad

Oh I am so happy you reacted to this! SHubha Mudgal is a very very accomplished and respected classical singer. She has also sang some more songs, some melancholy and sad too. I love her "Man ke Manjeere" and "Jheel" from her album "Man ke Manjeere". "Man ke Manjeere" is another powerful song. She has also sung a very powerful rendition of Vande Mataram, you should really listen to that. You should also listen to some of her pure classical, she is magic.

The Singer is a trained and regularly performing Hindustani Classical Trained singer and her name is Ms. Shubha Mudgal and she is amazing and this is her one and only foray into pop music.

In a tropical country like India, after scorching deadly summers; monsoon is the most awaited things by common people, farmers, etc. (since we are naturally agrarian country, monsoon has deep meaning to us, for crop production due to which we have many harvest festivals as well). So its a sigh of peace, relief and tranquility, especially the divine smell of soil from the first rain of monsoon is just 😍😌. Thus the importance of rain in our lives.

It was sung by the same lady who was acting - Subha Mudgil, a well known classical singer.

She is a master of Hindustani Classical AND she can really project her voice from the chest. I cut the music aside and was keenly following her voice.

You should listen to more indiepop songs from 90s. Best songs ever. Sonu Nigam. Adnan Sami, Anamika, Anaida. Sunita Rao.

Its sad to see that literally no one mentioned the music composer who composed this brilliant album. Shantanu Moitra is a heavily heavily underrated music composer with one of the best songs in existence. Parineeta, 3 Idiots and PK are some of his famous albums but people rarely know about him.

I watch OSR only when they watch something good... good song to listen in Mumbai Monsoon.

For reference, What you like about Kaushiki Chakroborty (classical vocalist). Shubha Mudgal Ji has been doing the same from the late 70's, 80's and 90's. Honoured with Padma Shri (High Civilian Award) and has a very high status as a classical singer and musician.

90s indie pop has got beautiful lyrics. Do try to get to euphoria, and also lucky Ali, but with subtitles for sure.

in 90s Indi Pop killed Bollywood but after Bollywood realize what new young generation wants and applied that in movies songs and killed pop era.... we enjoyed lot Indi pop eara...Channel V and M tv was whole day on in summer vactions almost in all homes (9 am papa going office... 9.05 tv on and 7 pm papa back to home and channel change to News channel... LOL)
